Can we have a unit structure thread? What's the purpose of the marine riflemen in the new Marine Corps? They look like they would be good in CQB scenarios with all these rifles - but every rifle has a magnification scope and a full length barrel and a bipod. Every marine a designated marksman?
>>

Is there one of these for Chinese squads?
>>

Yeah. I think the YouTube channel is called battle order. Their heavy infantry and amphibious units are interesting.

I was gonna say it sucks to be the assistant grenadier having only a pistol,
And then I was gonna say it sucks to be the grenadier not even carrying a fucking sidearm on you,
And then I was gonna say it sucks to be in the chinese military and have to use their defective weapons,
But man, does it suck to be chinese

ArmA III mission maker here, do any of you know how Belgian regular army and paratrooper squads (both historic and modern) are set up? All I can find on the website is the paracommandos's modern setup.

Who the fuck carries the ammo for TWO belt fed 308's in a single squad? especially with all that other shit? That can't be real.

Don't treat these charts as if they are law. Real equipment layouts will vary quite a bit from what they are supposed to have on paper.

CQB scenarios will be solved with liberal applications of HE, not bullets.

I don't understand, outsode of very COIN operations why would a military arm their soldiers in the modern Mechanized battlescape with shotguns as a piece standard infantry equipment in every squad??? reminder that the M27 was supposed to replace the M249 and use Beta-C mags, but the mags were shit so the USMC changed to Surefire Gen1 quadstack mags and those were also shit so now they just brought that glorified RPK and give it to everyone rather than admitting they did a wrong decision
>>

>>

nah, you're a retard
>want to replace the M249 because "13 man squad don't need that much firepower"
>beta-C mags shit themselves
>w-well we have the surefire
>surefire shit themselves
>we will just give our AR fuck tons of magazine
>AR guy can't carry this many mags so the entire squad has to carry his magazine for him rather than just one rifleman carrying a belt
>well, we'll just give it to everyone, that was part of the plan haha
they did a wrong choice and rather than admitting they were wrong and stop that mess like the US army did recently before the NGSW program, they just kept going like fucking retards, an absolute shame because Surefire fixed their damn magazines and they are now working really well, also Magpull made drum mags that are working well enough to be used by french SF in africa.

So is the rest of the trash grunts are humping. And it really doesnt matter, who carries it.
You have weapons sections. You then attach GPMGs to squads, why not have them organic in the first place. Also, the weight of the weapon is not even that big a deal, its really the ammo. Just leave the mounts with your transports.

So, is issuing each individual infantryman a sidearm on the field largely a Bong thing? I read that for most of the USSR's existence, your average Soviet rifleman didn't get a pistol.

Very interesting, cause the Vietnamese infantry rifle squad also operates in the same principle, 3-man cell to make up a squad, either 3x2 or 3x3 (typical) or 3x4.

It's not really a bong thing. Pistols are barely covers in bong training past familiarisation. They are issued in a as needed basis, and they are not part of regularly issued kit.

They were issued to op Herrick (Afghan) due to the green on blue threat. Which is where most modern pictures of bong forces have been taken.

Something like this. The Grenadier with M79 will be replaced with STV-380 (Galil ACE clone) and OPL-40 under-barrel grenade launcher (M203 clone) in the future. They could also supplement this OPL-40 to other Rifleman to increase overall firepower.
The Machine Gunner usually got RPD/PKM belt-fed (typical for defense squad) or RPK using the same AK mag for utility (typical for attack squad).

>>50553097
I typed all the things out cause somehow there is an odd similarity between both the US Marine squad and the Vietnam Rifle squad except the RPG-7 Rocketman.

A genuine question I've seen brought up is why keep both the 249 and 240 in the infantry company when the new 6.8 belt feds out perform both. Having extra belt feds is always nice but maybe it's an opportunity to broaden the scope of weapons platoons and treat them more like the Marines. Giving them loitering munitions, recoilless rifles etc and diversifying the ways they can organically support the company.

A very large ratio of the Turkish army is mechanized or motorized and they have pretty robust supply chains and a lot of support units, just like the US army. It's actually a big reason why Turkey has the largest army in NATO after the US. A fuck load of vehicular and logistic troops.

Sweden is another example of this, with their heavy use of CV90 based mechanized forces who can be supplied rapidly by self organizing Home Guard units stationed all over the country.

Mexico has 12 man squads with two HK21s per squad too. They also in theory have 4 LAWs and 1 RPG29 per squad too, but they have been deployed as policing units so much in recent years, that they don't even dismount with any of the rocketry.

Some Swede on int told me mechanized troops in Sweden really only ever deploy at max like 1km away form their CV90 unless it get's destroyed or something. Swedish mechanized forces are designed to harass overwhelming but inferiorly equipped Soviet motor rifle groups and accompanying lower quality tank support units. Basically shoot and scoot but the whole squad dismounts every time the vehicle moves and they attack from multiple directions then all move as one again. That's why they have so many explosives.
