ywn eject downwards out of your Tu-22 on the ground.
>>
>>49208335
think it was the TU-22M that does that
>>
>>49208387
No, those eject upwards. They’re apparently not zero-zero though

Man that sucks

There has to be a fuel cutoff before the chair pops
>>
My fav. Pretty comfy to eject, you even want to pull the lever during the flight.

>insufficient altitude
you don't say

Cute.

Do smoothbrains not understand that the power ejection seats have is stronger than the vacuum created by the jet engine. Another thing, if ejecting at high or even low subsonic speeds doesnt slam the pilot into the vertical stabilizer, what makes you think a jet engine intake can instantly suck an ejecting pilot into the intake in a fraction of a second like a cartoon.

It's all fun and games until your arm gets crushed in the clamshell

Gemini had pyrotechnic ejection seats and a pure oxygen atmosphere. It was also the sonly design Nasa listened to the pilots for.
It was somehow more dangerous than Voskhod which didn't have a launch escape system at all.

Have your arms and legs cut
Something so retarded than even armatards, I mean russians, didn't thought about
>>

How about punching out and skipping across the water?

Vostok was originally designed the same way (with an ejection seat), they changed to a mixed atmosphere after V. Bondarenko died in a fire during training.
It took Nasa the Apollo 1 fire to change as well.

I think it was the space shuttles Columbia and Enterprise that were both initially fitted with ejection seats for just two crew members. Dangerous and mostly worthless.
They pinned them after only a few missions. Then completely removed them after 50 or so missions.
>>
>>49217381
>The first two shuttles, Enterprise and Columbia, were built with ejection seats. It was only these two that were planned to be flown with a crew of two. Subsequent shuttles were built only for missions with a crew of more than two, including seats in the lower deck, and ejection seat options were deemed to be infeasible, so Challenger, Discovery, Atlantis, and Endeavour were built with no ejection seats.

It wasn't like they were designed for the pilots to punch out and leave the rest of the crew to die.
