The f-35 can datalink targeting info to HIMARS launchers using link16. This leaves the f-35 free to carry more fuel or air to air missiles, or to allow the f-35 to destroy targets after all air to ground munitions have been expended.

Should be just as easy as sharing targeting data with other systems connected to link16. It pays to have a vast network of target sharing info like the US has

Say what you want about the current state of the US, they are still the absolute leader in battlefield communications. Designing and implementing a coherent, multi platform communications network in a warzone is really really hard and expensive

Also, the JSTARS can also do what OP posted.

>tfw all the strategy games in the 90s that had the commander flying in a plane with perfect overhead SA commanding the troops and designating strikes turned out to be realistic

>>
>>48902842
I don’t know who this reverse armatard is. Maybe you should take your meds
>>
>>48903191
Yea and that’s a thing too. This is just a nice added capability for f-35s. They already have the hardware for it so no extra cost to speak of. Plus there are lots of places an f35 can go that a drone can’t
>>
>>48902983
The JSTARS is pretty dope, shame the jets are getting so old.
>>
>>48903588
Other than submarines, development of battlefield reconnaissance, intelligence and management is probably the most top secret area of the US military. I wouldn't be surprised if there is already a Global Hawk, or something similar, with the JSTARS radar already flying, but unacknowledged.

Remember, the RQ-180 has only even been acknowledged in 1 line of a budget report, even though it's been flying for at least 5 years.

On the western border of Russia, there are 5 full-fledged combined-arms armies, US has several battalions and a couple of colonial brigades in the Baltic States and Poland. This is a naked pink anus ring right in front of a erect cock.
>>
>>48903742

>>
>>48903742

Dumbass, the US is using HIMARS as bait
>>
>>48903822
How will several battalions without heavy weapons inflict losses and hold back the offensive of 5 armies for several months while NATO is mobilizing? How will the NATO leadership conduct mobilization if NATO headquarters in Brussels is captured already in the early days of the war?
>>
>>48903937
There are several western air forces in the vicinity. That’s all it would take to hold Russian armies back
>>
>>48903937
Satellite targeting + start bomber delivered interdiction. Simple as.
>>
>>48898126
Why couldn't a cheap drone do this?
>>
>>48903937
>implying Russia could mobilize 5 armies and park them at the boarder, ready to invade without NATO knowing.
>>
>>48904011
US drones probably can. The point is f35s can go places drones can’t. And little extra weight for datalink=24 rockets or 8 ballistic missiles or a combination of the two assuming 4 launchers.
>>
>>48904020
Yeah, it's not like Putin could just say "INVADESKI!" and 5 armies could instantly deploy. That kind of thing would take months, and that kind of deployment to the boarder is easily spotted.

It is naive to believe that Russia has an overwhelming advantage in Europe only in ground forces. And considering that all NATO airbases in Europe will be subjected to a massive missile strike in the first minutes of the war, which they will not be able to repel due to the lack of anti-missile defenses.
>>

>>
>>48904486
In fact, all countries of the world are the enemies of the US. Even the loyalty of the so-called US allies is guaranteed only by the threat of the use of military force against them. States is at a strategic impasse, its military forces are stretched across the world and are no longer able to ensure the imposition of their will on other countries. The United States is not able to concentrate its forces to confront even such countries as Iran and the DPRK, as this will immediately lead to the loss of control in dozens of other countries.
It's like plugging holes in a pool with your fingers, provided that more and more of these holes appear and at the same time they cut off the fingers one by one.

Russia in a week can mobilize an offensive-ready group of troops of 400,000 troops in Europe. The United States and Europe during the same time can mobilize several thousand troops as part of disparate units capable of performing a very limited range of tasks.
Apparently NATO generals will try to call the Russian generals and offer them to surrender, citing their overwhelming superiority reflected in the illusory financial parameters:3

>>
>>48906224
Russia does not even control Europe with military force, this is stupid. Russia is not going to use military force to liberate countries at all. Physical violence is the most ineffective instrument of waging war, it brings quick results, but does not ensure its sustainability in the future. Russia views war as a complex (hybrid) of measures aimed at seizing energy, natural and human resources. The highest priority of these measures is the worldview weapon, and then in descending order of priority: chronological, ideological, economic, genetic and the very last tool is violence, which only serves to ensure the implementation of the above types of weapons.

Just to set things in perspective: everybody *does* realize that aircraft have been able to call in artillery fire over radios for literally a hundred years now, right? This just speeds up and automates the process so that one guy can do the whole thing in seconds while flying around in a low-observable platform. In WWII, a call for fire could take 5-15 minutes (for the US; longer for other sides).

Bombs and missiles, mostly. The biggest lesson that USAF learned in 1991 was that guided weapons from 15k' are far safer and more effective against most targets than gun runs at 500'. The only case where a gun run really makes sense anymore is in a COIN fight against irregular infantry.
>>
>>48911013
Link-16 is a communications protocol. It was originally used to share radar data between planes for the purposes of performing aerial intercepts. It is not limited to that mission, however, and its use has been widely expanded as C4I technology has improved over the last few decades.
