They're functional but not meant for anything other than the shooting range. It's evident the first time you feel the toy plastic or take a second to think about how you'll attach anything anywhere other than that top rail. They're poorly finished and will rust.

They're popular because they're the cheapest bullpup. Save for the Tavor. It's polished and fixed all of the dumbshit Keltec didn't bother with.

Decent but flawed gun. In general, it's as accurate as the SVD (1.5 MOA with good ammo), but it's got a few flaws that make it a little worse:
>can't use heavy ball ammo or it will beat itself apart
>thin barrel causes the pattern to open up as the gun heats up
>barrel heats up quickly due to thin barrel

If you want something that most people think is an SVD but for much cheaper, it's a decent gun.

Oh yeah mags are also like $100.

This won't be the answer you're looking for but if you can't get a wide handguard to replace the thin ones, I've had good experience with the $50 aftermarket mlok rail. you can put all sorts of neat stuff on it and mitigate the heat, but it won't have the wide handguard aesthetic.

https://www.reddit.com/r/FNFAL/comments/93zuip/macs_issue_with_a_dsa_fal/
>>
>>48412402
DSA bought their original machines, spare parts and blue prints from Steyr. Thats why it's called Stg58.
>>
>>48412402
Kinda weird how they bought all that tooling yet their receivers and mags are out of spec, seems like they just aren't as good as the originals.
>>
DSA does have some problems but the fuss about magazines is mostly bullshit. There are so many different dimensional specs of the magazine catch and as the magazine catch spring wears out it tends to present the magazine feedlips lower and lower in the magazine well until eventually you get issues where the bolt will pass over the head of the cartridge. However, if the feed lips are raised relative to the magazine catch you're faced with the possibility that Mark Graham will make videos making fun of you because your mags won't lock in to every receiver easily (feed lips bottoming out against the receiver). The patrician solution is to spread the feed lips a bit, tap them into the receiver a few times until the feedlips conform and they become easy to insert but also provide the highest possible feeding position for the bolt.
>>
Shitposting and com0lainers are everywhere. I'll alert the media.

I recently bought a PTR for 800, and obviously I was a little skeptical about the quality but on inspection the internals all appeared like new and the barrel was in excellent condition. I found two problems with it:
>Missing one of the two takedown pins that goes into the stock
>The safety selector is incredibly stiff, so much so that I have to break my grip to put the gun on safe.
Where can I find a replacement takedown pin, and is this normal for the safety selector on the PTR?
>>

>>48410627
the one I have is an AIMS i think. midwest has one that's 150, and I wouldn't bother at all with paying $300 for a handguard that isn't a wide handguard like you want
>>
>>48414530
Hkparts or Robertrtg will have takedown pins for the stock. Safety selector shouldn't be that difficult, might just need some lubrication.
>>

Are SA-58's the inaccurate crap that some people make them out to be, or is it just people doing accuracy tests with irons? Do they become respectable guns once you mount actual optics, or do PTR's and AR-10's still run circles around them even after that?

The gun will be more accurate than you, assuming you don't go with the absolute cheapest available options designed for literal African security forces, and even then its still going to be around 3 moa like every other BR on the market. The PTR fags claiming PSG levels of accuracy might as well buy a nugget from Big 5 because the red army issued them as snipers during WW2.

As long as you dried it out, and cleaned it thoroughly after your range day, it should be fine. They use corrosion resistant steel and such on firearms. Your FAL is a military firearm, they designed it to survive combat conditions. Just keep it dry, and clean and it'll last you a lifetime.

I don't understand how something could take 30 minutes to disassemble. my AR takes 5 minutes at most if it gives me issues, and my PTR is literally less than a minute.

Hell, my SKS takes maybe 5 minutes.
>>
>>48416037
What kind of adapters do I need to attach to a PTR with the standard fixed stock and a thin handguard?

I can understand having difficulty putting a PTR back together. My stock does not want to go on my rifle. Hopefully the replacement backplate I bought fits nicer than what came factory. However, having issues dissembling it? Pop out two pins, pull the charging handle and you got the gun field stripped.

I heard the cetme has too powerful a felt recoil compared to other .308 weapons, enough to make it somewhat unpleasant to shoot. Why is this? Is the bolt too heavy, does it move to fast, does it hit the back of the gun too hard, some other reason?

Can someone help me figure out what the fuck is going on in burger land?
Maybe I’m retarded but I swear I remember you guys bitching about $1000 Garands not 6 months ago.
I’m a leaf down here for abit and have been trying to cop a ‘cheap’ CMP rifle which I figured could be picked up for $1200~.
I can’t find any online for under 2grand which makes its cost prohibitive and essentially Canadian priced when I account for exchange rates and importation fees.
Is this just a sign of the times?(inflation+boomeritis+supply/demand strains)
I’m seeing carbines sell for $1500+ and fucking sks for 800-$1000.
At home they are going for 850$ and 350-600, respectively.
7.62x39 is going for ~.40cpr and I saw green tip .223 going for $2/round at a gun store in Arizona the other day..
cabelas is selling FMJ .223 for ~.60 but it seems to be all over the place, IF you can get it.
I’m still paying wayy less at home for ammo than I would be here.
It seems the tables have turned..
Can anyone point me in the direction of cheaper Garands or are they all gone? I paid $2500 for one and $1700 for the other not two years ago, they are selling for up to $3500 now at home for springers..
Fuck.
