/BRG/ #135
Im too lazy to think of an edition, edition
Post your Battle rifles (and parts kits).
Russian BRs are accepted, but no 7.62x39.
Precision bolt actions rifles no longer accepted since /PRG/ finally bootstrapped themselves!.
/BRG/ and /PRG/ should team up now.
T48 ANON! Email me at Galilfag @protonmail.com, I found some T48 blueprints from Springfield in my ar/k/ folder. They might be helpful.
Fals are rad
PTRs are rad
Galils are radical
M1As are rad
Ar10s are boring but still slightly rad
Garands demand respect, radical dadicals
Centurys arent rad
Caliberlets are absolutely not rad
/arg/ fags are tards and therefore not rad
Commies arent people, letalone rad
A walker with a missing tennis ball was left here last thread, anyone with a cmp garand can come pick it up.
Training, mental health, physical health and proficiency are 1000x more important than gear, stop minmaxing your rifle.
Leave an interesting body innahappening, Id rather die with a Galil, cz75, chest rig, and flannel than with some boring ar with a boring chest rig and glock in boring multicam.
Wide green handguards are available on apex if you want one https://www.apexgunparts.com/ppn-3-night-vision-scope-waiting-on-arrival.html
Workout routine talk is welcome as well, commies wont slot themselves, your slayer wont sling itself, and you wont perform how you should hating your body.

No traps, trips, or airsoft (except PTR handguards)

So today I shot my c308 for the first time and the only ammo I could find in stores was pic related. Every 3ish shots I'd get a failure to eject. Was it the ammo causing this or was it my gun? I kinda blamed it on the ammo because it's reduced recoil ammo
>>
>>47961320
Congrats! But your BR collection can never be complete
>>
>>47962428
>shot my c308 for the first time
>first time
could be that or, it could be the ammo. for the ptr91 the recommended ammo for it is 145-150 grain. i'll have to find the source for that, but for now just trust me. if its a used rifle, it would throw the first idea out the window.
>>
>>47961203
What that b bb
>>
>>47962491

>>
>>47960274
what receiver is that?
>>
Okay I need some advice, I'm undertaking the great Swiss quest for a STGW57. I have a parts kit sans receiver and barrel. A guy locally is selling an AMT barrel for $1k. Normally these go for ~$2k minimum. Good deal, right? BUT the barrel is in .308 AND is 4" shorter than the OEM SIG 510 barrel (20 vs 24").

Should I go for it just so I can focus on the receiver? Or wait for the 7.5 barrel I really want.
>>
>>47961345
If you were willing to sell some. I don't have an AK but my friend does and he's looking for ammo.
>>
>>47962592
Damn that's a good deal. It could be the ammo. Since it's essentially a recoil operated rifle that could be it. (Yeah yeah I know blowback isn't the same as recoil operated but it's close) i would try a box of regular stuff if you can find it. Check ammoseek often and you'll find some that's decently affordable.
>>
>>47962428
If it's a brand new rifle it probably needs to be broken in. Or your mags are bad, if you're using HK mags they can sometimes not feed correctly and need to file them a bit.
>>
So, aside from the rail and rear sight, what's the difference between a PTR and a C308? The receivers for the C308 are made by PTR, aren't they?
>>
>>47962428
Very well could be the ammo. Are you using the aluminum mags or the steel ones?
>>
>>47962655
How much does it matter to you how it looks or is "correct?" If it will bother you that it isn't a correct length for the rifle then I would hold off. I don't know how easy it is to replace barrels on those but if it's easy then you could get both but that's even more money just to be able to shoot it sooner.

gorilla anon here again, been dicking around with the mount again, found this link. is it possible to add this to the pastebin for future reference? i feel as though with the new wave of buyers, this issue is bound to come up again.

https://www.geekgunman.com/www.mg-42.net/G3_scope.html

after experimenting with the little shims in the mount, yes my receiver is in fact, out of spec.
>>
>>47962713
I've never held a c308 that i felt was good quality. The welds on the receivers were shit compared to my ptr and other ptr's I've seen. All of the c308s I've played with have had really sticky cocking tubes that made it hard to use. One you would have had to slam the butt on the floor to open because neither me nor the counter guy could get the action open.

HK mags *should* work fine but like another anon said, it's a CETME clone and not a G3 clone. As a result the steel CETME mags are the ones designed for it. I'll provide a link below. But the HK ones are fine. I've heard different stories from different places, ones that work better than the others and vice versa. I prefer the aluminum HK mags because they're a lot lighter and my CETME feeds from them just fine.

>>47962713
The C308 is a Century Arms International assembled rifle using surplus Spanish CETME parts kits and PTR-built receivers.

The PTR is an American built HK-91/G3 clone. Generally speaking, the PTR is built to a higher standard with better and newer parts and QC.

Before the coof, you could get a C308 for *much* cheaper than a PTR though both weren't that expensive. Now you're looking at $1k for a C308 and $1300++ for a PTR.

>>47962916
No worries m8, looking forward to that.

Anyway here's a good deal on the steel CETME mags. I wonder if they work on PTRs?
https://www.jgsales.com/c308-and-cetme-20rd-surplus-308-magazine,-vg,-used.-p-2415.html

The middle mag in my pic is the 20 round CETME one.

And every post on 4chan and plebbit for the next few months is people either copeposting their "piece of history" or acting completely shocked that incredibly reputable and respected firearms importer and retailer IO would sell them a length of sewer pipe.

Slow day, boys. I've gotten 5% closer to making my own wooden furniture, I gave a surplus set of furniture to my buddy who actually has all the woodworking tools, he's gonna dick around with them and see what he can recreate with scrap wood. I should have a set in Walnut by the end of the summer if I play my cards right. Would anyone here be interested in any new wooden furniture for their PTR? Black guns wood does not, I would ask ironwood designs if they could, although I'd expect to pay a premium. Pic related stock is blackgunswood, they have a rubber butt pad. Pistol grip is ironwood designs. If you can't find a round wood foregrip you could get a round pri forgrip, would look pretty neat

Good range day with the boys. I discovered that CETMEs do not like to feed with underfilled mags though. Failure to feed almost every time in mags with 5 or 6 rounds loaded. But it also could be that the gun is filthy and I'm gonna be cleaning her here in a sec.
Something else I noticed when they were failing to feed and eject - the cases had big scrapes taken out of the sides. But yeah I'm chalking up the FTEs up to being dirty or weak mag springs.

Do you ever think "wow, I am so fucking retarded. How did I ever get to this point in my life without accidentally dying?"
Well that's how I feel with trying to put this bolt back on the bolt carrier. The rollers keep locking and despite the numerous guides and videos I've ingested, I still can't do it.
The rest of cleaning took less time than this and I'm not even done.
>>
>>47975821
It's very hard the first or second time. Just service it frequently enough or make a video of you doing it to rewatch.
>>
>>47975864
So am I right in thinking that when you're rotating the bolt clockwise, you are to press and hold the rollers down against the resistance of the locking spring as you're turning it? I want to make sure I'm not doing anything mechanically wrong, just more of "do you even lift bro"

You can't push the bolt too far back, it has to be just far enough that the locking piece can't push the rollers out, and just near enough for the hook to pass through that gap on the bolt
>>
>>47977075
Put it in backwards
>>
>>47975821
There's an aftermarket tool that you can buy that REALLY helps with bolt reassembly/disassembly
>>
>>47977084
>>47977122
What is all this nonsense, just put the bcg back together and drop it in the receiver backwards to unlock the rollers. Who needs a tool to do that?
>>
>>47977136
That's why I think something is wrong or I'm doing something wrong. I'm putting much more than 50 lbs of force on twisting the bolt on so the spring shouldn't be an issue.
>>
>>47977171
Did you get the bolt head on and the rollers locked out, or are you still fighting to twist it into place?
>>
>>47977228
Twist it into place. But like i said above it's not that I can't get the bolt into its final position, it's that the rollers are engaged and I can't put the bcg back into the rifle.
The guides I've read said to leave 3/16 inch gap between the bolt face and the bolt itself but there's no way that's possible from what I can see.

Pic related - bolt in place, rollers engaged and locked.
>>
>>47977256
Good, now drop that into the receiver backwards. The rollers will catch on the side of the receiver and unlock.
>>
>>47977282
I saw that too but won't that bend the receiver?
>>
>>47977285
Maybe. Way I see it is I'm probably going to shoot the barrel out long before I see any consequences from my misdeeds. The rifle undergoes a ton of stress during firing, I think it should be able to handle me pushing things with my scrawny hands?
>>
>>47976887
Maybe all the ar10s should convert to scar mags instead.

4 of 5 - second to last position and where I'm getting stuck. The rollers are not locked and engaged and there's a gap between the bolt and bcg per instructions

I can't see it but it looks like that's not underneath the anti-bounce lever? I'm not sure if it's supposed to be or not

This?
>>
>>47977372
Yeah that's the part I meant. Bolthead won't rotate any further? There's a ramp/channel dealie that the bounce lever is supposed to follow when you're rotating the bolt, makes it easier to get on.

Something like this right? Or are you talking about the lever to push down while turning the bolt?
>>

Yeah, that's my understand of how it goes back together
>>
>>47977469
Well fuck. Am I missing a piece? The video of the German airforce guy doing what I've spent literally 4 hours doing took him maybe 30 seconds. However when he put the bolt onto the locking piece, it clicked like it attached to something. Mine doesn't do that

Firing pin, spring, locking piece, bolt head, bcg is all there is senpai. If you went smaller I can't help you
>>
>>47977529
Nah that's the furthest I went.
Well I'm stumped and my fingers are swollen from doing this for hours. Gonna plug away for a little longer then idk. I'm really hesitant to try the reverse bonk method. My dad was a dirtbag but he was right about one thing, if you're forcing it then it's probably not the right way to do it.
>>
>>47977544
Unfortunately I've only ever done a reverse bonk. I'm counting on PTR's garbage barrel life to save me future embarrassment.
>>
>>47977555
Thanks for the help anon I appreciate your time. Hopefully I'll have a good update soon!

Could just be shitty mags, too. I know 2 of my PTR mags give me failures to feed almost every time I use them
>FTE
That's a completely different problem that might be more serious. Are they sticking in the chamber? Or stripping the rim off? In my experience these things eject casings with the power of a thousand suns
