>>46032801Try sprinting with the dropleg mag pouch on, it's just going to be not good.
>>46032783Hell yeah my AR500 shipped
>>46032783Man plain OD green fatigues is such a good look.
>>46032816It does kinda suck, but I try to suck it up. I like having 4 extra mags on me.
>>46032801The /gq/ consensus is that drop legs are laughable. They are not conducive with running, or long periods of physical exertion, which is 90% of actual soldiering/combat.Drop legs only work for mostly stationary positions.
>>46032878Put em in your pack dummy
>>46032858It really is. For some reason to me it is way more intimidating than multicam. When I see feds in multicam I think meh, could be anyone. When I see feds in OD I think oh shit, who are those guys? One time I saw the president drive by and one of the SUV's had the windows down and the guys inside were all wearing OD gear. They looked badass.
I'm looking at some Bigfoot Gunbelts, and was wondering which size I should get: 14oz or 18oz.The 14oz height would allow it to easily fit in any of my pants, the 180z may not fit into some of my pants. The 180z seems to be the go to for those who open/conceal carry a full sized hand gun. I plan on CC'ing a micro compact double stack 9mm semi with two 12rd spare begs on the same gun belt. Would a 14oz be able to support all that weight? 18oz seems over kill for a little gat like I have, but those who say they the 180z is a much for full sized handguns do not mention if they carry spare mags. So I am assuming the small compact pistol alone would easily work with the 140z, but not sure if the added weight of the two extra mags would still let it work.
>>46032953Or get a chest rig/PC.
>>46032894They have a small number of extremely niche uses but yeah for basic infantry shit and/or civvy gooning, they're fucking terrible.
>>46032982Home defense against antifa mob. I have 5 mags on my belt with the dropleg, subload and then 4 mags on my PC.If I'm the next McCloskey, this is how I'm coming out.
>>46033013You're dumb and are gonna die on your back after you trip and fall from having 5lbs swinging around bashing you in the nuts every time you so much as turn at a reasonable speed.
>>46033013You think you're going to go through 10 mags? Every time a gun goes off they scatter like roaches.
>>46033013I feel you dude. You're probably gtg. People here like to stick to a very specific metaAs long as your gear works for you--and More importantly, you train with it, you're fine. There is no standardization on gear.
>>46032878Get a chest rig then you goof>>46033013You won't ever burn through a single mag in home defense, and a mob isn't coming for your house you tard. Plus it's easier to draw mags from a chest rig than dropleg
>>46033013get rid of the dropleg, take the 4 rifle mags from that and put them on your PC, and then lose the 2 pistol mags on the dropleg because you had 2 pistol mags on regular belt
>>46033070>>46033028Appreciate the advice. I actually practice alot with my gear, different firing positions, bounding drills etc. This dropleg doesn't seem like such a big issue and serves my autistic needs for a shitload of ammo pretty well. Not very well recommended for long VERY hikes though. It works well for MOUT stuff with me. Also, this is my go-to pouch for prone reloads.
I got some surplus Drifire longsleeve shirt for cheap as fuck and it feels amazing to train in, doesn't get wet or sweaty at all. Is it worth full price to buy the T-shirt version of it from another source?
>>46033133>not 6+1 mags>no waterngmi
>>46033133Are you not interested in adding plates? The commies have rifles too, and they'd dumb enough to pop off some rounds in your direction whether they mean to or not.
>>46033133If you had ever set foot on a MOUT training site you'd be singing a different tune about droplegs. Also mags on/in cummerbund is goof for prone reloads>>46033146based waterautist blesses us on this day
>>46033168I'm not done with my PC. Plates are next, as is an extra IFAK.
>>46033211Good luck. I've been waiting for mine to ship for 2 months. Plates will be significantly longer.Dont cheap out on the PC. it's worth spending a little extra.
>>46033238Same to you, man.
>>46033238I ordered Hescos and a Crye SPC in June, I don't expect them until after November, maybe even next year. Shit's fucked m8
>>46033133>I actually practice alot with my gear,We can see by that pic that you dont.
>>46032783Copied from last thread:I'm a poorfag that wants a helmet. Why shouldn't I get a UHMWPE MICH2000+ on AliExpress or Ebay? Something like a Militech or a LongFri? $200 and seems good enough since I'm not planning on going to war with it.Anon in other thread suggested an FMA at $160 but all I'm seeing is plastic airsoft replicas.
>>46033483You can rig up a ballistic CVC helmet for a little over a hundred. Granted you should just peruse your local milsurp shop for an ACH. But the CVC is comfy and sits between an ACH and bump helmet with regards to weight/protection.
>>46033509Please elaborate. How do i set up the helmet at that price? What exactly should i purchase?

If i purchase this for 50 bucks, can i bring it back to life? Its beat to shit, and the faghot wow "fuck you" with Sharpie on it.How difficult would it be to put in the workto make this not disgusting?
>>46033748Yeah just sand it a bit and repaint it.
>>46033681Thoughts on 6x6 vs 6x8"?Wait till you see the carrier setup I've got going on. It is a wug of carriers. I took a used 500D Shellback Banshee in RG that I got off of tacswap, used a razor blade to cut the front flap kangaroo pouch off. Installed ITW Swift Clip female clips on the front end for placards, snagged a Beez Combat laser cut cummerbund Tubes retrofit cummerbund kit and threw that on. The new Tubes are super slick and fast to don/doff, the cummerbund is comfy, as are the shellback with the elite shoulder pads (why I went back to this carrier in the first place), and now I'm installing Grey Ghost Gear Tactical Tailor laser cut Crye pattern zip panel adapters on the back. Nice that Grey Ghost Gear, Crye, and Tactical Tailor finally are going towards a shared zip panel system. Got a TMC airshit knockoff of the Crye Pouch Zip panel 2.0 coming next week ($80 vs $320). If I like the pocket/panel layout enough I'll just get the CRYE. If not, I might check out the Grey Ghost blank panel and build something myself. I hope that the zip panel system is tight.

>>46033679No to nvg, im not taking out a loan for larping. Comms for sure, and keeping my brain in my skull.
>>46033735If that's how you think of it what reason is there to wear a back plate either?
>>46032783How cringe is digital desert camo in 2020?
>>46033762The insides are fucked as well
>>46033772Well, I would probably just recommend finding a surplus/new production ach. If you don't like sticking your headset under a helmet like that, get us made highcut.

>>46033794You won't be using those if you're wanting to convert it, since you'll want a non-shit suspension.

>>46033483you can buy a fucking surplus ach for $100 on ebay stop buying chink helmets
>>46033930Don't get all uppity nigger, I'm just saying that helmet is a waste of your shekels.
>>46033836You can get a DH132B stripped shell for $40 on ebay, and since you'll be replacing everything but the shell it's a waste of $60.Also I'm pretty sure the DH132A is the non-ballistic version, regardless of what that listing says.
>>46033990>calls you nigger>nuh uh you're an uppity niggerFuck off. You've been shitting up this general. Your posting style is obvious and you're just obnoxious.Don't worry about my sheckles. Worry about your next arbitrary argument you feel like starting about someone's elses gear.
>>46033990This. so many people buy helmets with no plans for nvgs, or any threat of coming under mortar fire or some shit. helmets are mostly useless for civilians.

>>46034087>pic related for you>>46034106Maybe now, but I got that like a year ago, back before they sold out stuff in 30 seconds
I just thought the x was cool and was gonna get a couple, but then I realized you have to stake out their website 24/7 if you ever want one.
>>46032858>>46032955Agreed completely. Something about all OD, it seems like only people that really know their shit wear it.

>>46034272Not even close. If you can't fill a bathtub then you aren't bringing enough.

how much gear could you substitute duct tape for? i want to hear the most retarded ideas. duct taping plates to yourself, duct taping magazines to yourself to rip off when needed, duct tape holster, duct tape sling

>>46032863Yea fuck them I asked them a simple question on ig and those fucking niggers didn't answer. Fuck em
>>46034468There is a picture floating around of a duct tape chest rig someone made when they were bored. Plates might be a little harder to support given the weight, but you could probably do it.

>mistakenly bought comtac VI hearing defenders because I can't readCan I use that 3M y-cable to connect it to my PTT?
>>46034595Pretty sure, I think you'll also need the boom mic as well though.

>>46034438Nobody is less deserving of support
>>46032783Any good to go bivvys? Should I look for surplus ones? Pic related is the one I'm looking at for a surplus option.
>>46034764Hearing defenders are hearing protection only and don't offer the proper downlead for connecting to a PTT, but if you have an XPI you can use 3M's y-splitter cable to connect a microphone to it since it has an peltor microphone jack
Update on plate carrier and plates missing, USPS said they delivered to a building next to mine, knocked on door and neighbor is a nigger (yikes) and claims nothing came there, but I literally saw a condor tag at the doorstep lmao
>>46034809Oh that's goofy as fuck.
does anyone have anything to say or experience with Firstspear' stuff?I was thinking about getting a Siege-R optimized vest for my daily use.
>>46034788You could check out the snugpack bivvy shelter or if you want surplus theres the MSS (modular sleep system) or the USGI 3 season sleep system
>>46033509Why do you flags always try to buy the cheapest option for something that is supposed to save your life. If you cant buy a ballistic get a bump or spend the money on ammo. Or buy a surplus ach, christ.
>>46034852Yeah, it is. I have the comtac VI hearing defenders, which have a microphone because it has its memeshit wireless communication that lets you talk to other comtac VI users in the vicinity. I'm going to get that Y-splitter to let me have a proper PTT downlead
>>46034881Consoomers that HAVE to have something right away and right now. Also they're broke because they have no discipline and waste their money on other useless stuff.
>>46034889>memeshit wireless communication that lets you talk to other comtac VI users in the vicinity.Yeah that's what I'm talking about, I saw the mic and was like, what's the problem? But then I read the description. At least you can fix it with the y-splitter.
>>46034438Yeah let me support a bunch of losers who make the same clapped out anime patches.
>>46034831Call and talk to the postmaster or carrier supervisor first thing in the morning on Monday, give them the tracking number and tell them what's going in. They will have the carrier stop there during their route to get it back. I'm not sure with corona but usually you can ask to meet the carrier or get them to bring it to your house or hold it at the PO. That's the SOP. If the person won't give the package to the carrier theyll get the supervisor involved and elevate it to police or postal inspectors.Tracking numbers have geotags attached to delivery scans btw so you shouldn't have anything to worry about if your carrier is good.t. Postal fag
>>46034472Two radios and no one to talk to
>>46034854Hope you use your discount officer
>>46035003Btw call before 8am because the carriers have to leave the office by 9am, that way they can check it and talk to the carrier while they are in the building and you don't have to deal with playing phone tag between you, the supervisor, and the carrier.
>>46034788surplus bivvies are fine, if a bit heavy and bulky. tough though. there's a company that makes great ones but I'll have to look, they are pricey though
>>46035011he's an actual JTAC so I doubt it
>>46034781If that corner strikes first then you are fucked. Perhaps the carbon fiber helmets will fare better, but that had better be specified before I will agree with it. Polycarb is pretty good but will fail under hard use.
>>46035451Bicycle helmets from walmart are made to withstand worse. You dont know a goddamn thing about helmets. Non ballistic helmets are a VERY mature technology.
>>46035451Get a construction hard hat or an outdoor rock climbing helmet, you know, the helmets specifically designed to protect your head against hard knocks from rocks. What the fuck are you doing outside where there's the chance that you'll get hit in the head by a brick? Are you Marv from fucking Home Alone?
>>46033735>reasonsNot getting penetrated there>>46033765I told you specifically not to do that. I have no further information for you. You wouldn’t take it anyway>>46033826Mine chose to based on the mission. Long range? Sure, everything packed in ruck. Clearing? Sides.>>46033844No>>46035630>rock climbing helmetCorrect
>>46035713My guy, posted in last thread hitting you up with more tree advice but it might have archived before you saw it. If you did, cool, if not, here you go. Chew aspen bark, or make a tea from the bark or leaves for basically nature's aspirin. Tastes like shit. More tea? Make some tea from pine needles. Depending on the species, it will cure scurvy, or give a lady an abortion.
>>46032816I used a dropleg pouch to hold my narcs and some other shit in Afghanistan, it never bothered me.
>>46035464It was a joke, retard
>>46034364What is it? Just a wrap? I feel retarded for asking.
>>46035886No, they print it on there, but I’m not sure how exactly
Not sure if /gq/ is the right place to ask this, but I've seen a few of you guys have suppressors. I have a 9mm pistol currently, and am thinking about getting a suppressor. Does it make sense to get a can in 45 in case I decide later to pick up another pistol in 40 or 45? I know a 45 can will work with 9mm, but will it be effective?
>>46035953Suppressors work by trapping and redirecting gas, so of course it won’t work as well as a 9mm canWhat do you consider effective?
>>46036068Right. Obviously shooting 9mm with a 9mm suppressor would be ideal, but if a 45 suppressor quiets 9mm down to where I don't need earpro, I'd consider that "effective".
>need water bottle>decide to be clever and order the biggest stainless steel option from China>it's listed as single wall, so it fits with the need for a boiling vessel>it arrives>it's double-walled
>>46036126Unless you've got a heavy metals test handy, I wouldn't use it anyway. There is a reason you don't order chink shit for anything that is going to go near your internals.
>>46036126>ordered from chinaYou get what you fucking deserve
>>46035946Are there seams between the sides and bottom plate of the art or does it cover the whole mag?
>>46036188The only danger I see is in the possibility that the insulating layer involves lead solder. I don't worry about stainless steel vessels because it's such a dumb thing to fuck around with.I don't trust any multi-section adjoined cookware from China, but my entire cook kit is made there and any of the shit I'll probably be ordering with a brand premium on it is coming from the same places. Nalgene bottles are made in China, for example. I don't know of a single company that makes stainless steel bottles outside of China.
>>46036266hydroflasks are made in china too, they good though
>>46036266There is a big difference between the QC that goes into a Western company's product being made in China and things that are produced for internal Chinese use, even if it's at the same factory. If the Western company poisons somebody, they get sued out the ass, where as a random Wish seller has no such concern.
>>46036115No way of knowing for sure unless you find a sound test of someone shooting 9mm with the specific .45 can you are thinking of getting.
>>46036261I’m pretty sure it’s printed on with a laser similar to how laser engraving is done, so it doesn’t wrap all the way around if that’s what you’re asking
>>46036485Yeah that's what I wabted to know thanks
>>46035946Ah, that makes sense. Thanks for the info, based magazines btw.
>>46035783Radical. I’ll have to read up some more.
>>46036663While not a tree, yarrow is like fucking everywhere and can be pretty useful, easy to identify too
>>46035783>Make some tea from pine needlesIt is not very good. I did this during my ascetic phase.
>>46036336Oh, definitely. But even with a Western company there are no guarantees. Currently debating if I should go with a $30 Nalgene bottle + a substantial amount of money worth of additional crap or cough up $75 for this kit.>>46036759Pine needle tea is weird. The one time I tried it I found it a bit odd on the palate, but I see room to experiment with it.
>>46033791Those LBX cuts are as close to Hyperstealth as any of us are gonna get They work ok
>>46034788>dutch goretex bivy That thing weights about as much as a good, lightweight solo tent.
>>46036759>>46036856Really depends on what species of pine, and also a lot of people confuse other conifers with pine. I once watched a girl make "pine" needle tea with spruce. She was a dumb whore.
>>46036978Eh, spruce is edible. And spruce tea is a thing. Yew is the bad one. That and spikey-coned pine variants, if I have my woodlore correct.
>>46037009spruce is edible, sure, my point is people confuse it and fir and douglas-fir and pine. Don't know about the spikey cone thing, I think that might be false because gray pine is spikey and pretty sure that's one to make tea from
>>46037174>Don't know about the spikey cone thing, I think that might be false because gray pine is spikey and pretty sure that's one to make tea fromReading up, seems right. The fruit of gray pine is listed as edible. Not sure about tea, though. Was really hoping there was a solid rule to differentiate the edible pine species from the poisonous pine species, but it appears not.
>>46037235Well, pine needles are never poisonous, I really don't think any part of the pine is. You might get a tummyache if the needles have needle scale (like an insect type thing) but other than that you'd be fine. Mistletoe might fuck you up depending on the species, mistletoe is actually a parasite and dwarf mistletoe can be a big problem on lodgepole pine
>>46037435I have read ponderosa is toxic and not good for tea.
at this price, will I regret not buying?been considering night vis but this would be a bit of an impulse buy
>>46037009>Yew is the bad oneSweet Jesus. Yew is poisonous. Where are you that you are coming into contact with Yew, Ireland or Britain?
>>46037582If that has a Pinnacle tube and a mil-spec housing then it will do a lot of work for the money.
>>46037623There are other yew species with broad geographical ranges. And yep, all are poisonous.
>>46037637>do a lot of work for the moneyI just wanna larp and have cool toys lol. help me understand, the pvs-14 is just a modular system that many manufacturers make? pvs-14 is to trybe as ar-15 is to bcm? if so, is trybe a reputable brand?
>>46037498people say that because of isocupressic acid but if you ain't a chick with the bun in the oven don't worry about it
>>46037623Yew is in the PNW as well
>>46037675>pvs-14 is to trybe as ar-15 is to bcm?Yes, that is a good analogy.>if so, is trybe a reputable brand?Too new for any rep at all, either good or bad. The housing looks to be not quite mil-spec unless some new mfg makes the external contacts like that now, so mil-spec subassemblies may not work for repairs but most or all accessories will work.
>>46037748i see, thanks man. gonna hold off on night vis until I know my shit and get some land to shoot at night on.
>>46037777nice digits. Make sure you have the rest of your gear first. On the list of things to buy, night vision is the final purchase you should make. If you get nods before armor you deserve to get kicked in the dick.
>>46034521The "fuck you" was directed at you, the thread viewer, who is forced to observe my updates.i have nothing but appreciation for DM
>>46036856Idk what exactly you want, but MSR has some ultralite cookware kits and stuff. Might be worth checking into.
>>46038075Seconded for MSR, all their shit is great. Love their cook shit and their snowshoes (although their snowshoes are better for icier snow than for powdery snow imo)
I just want to know why all of you decided to buy, out of all the options we have, the Defense Mechanisms PC, a product of unknown quality from a literally-who brand
>>46038127It was like one or two dudes who bought it and post about it non stop because they haven't got it yet
>>46034033>t. all i need is my mosin
>>46038127>>46038153It's literally just me.I just spam it as a joke. I hope to get on gq when it arrives and post closeups of the stitching to see if gq can determine it's quality. Until then its just a gamble--but I'm a huge bitch anyway, so it's not like I'm actually going to be operating, and i appreciate the aesthetic.
>>46035630>What the fuck are you doing outside where there's the chance that you'll get hit in the head by a brick? Not them, but folks these days seem to like throwing bricks at people. Or hitting people in the head with weighted melee weapons. Generally they'll try to get you on the ground and then move in to curbstomp you, though. Because they're fucking cowards.
>>46038320might be a smart idea to protect your head, face and rib cage then
>>46038254had me fooled, but then again i’m a giant retard so don’t be too proud of yourself
>>46038320Well that would imply that you're already in the thick of it, and if you let yourself get to that point than you deserve a brick to the head.
>>46038356We're all retards here, anon. We could be saving this money.

>>46038388>doe estrus urinethat's like saying atm machine or cac card, doe estrus is just urine
Is there a point in getting a lazer if I'm not planning on nods?
>>46038497No. the IR laser is extremely handy for aiming, but it isn't remotely useful without nvg capability
>>46038497Visible laser might be useful for point shooting in CQB.
Just got a google notification that these https://www.bulletproof-it.com/product-page/model-4401-nij-certified-level-iv-10-x12-rifle-plate dropped 50 bucks in price, but the website doesn't show that.Is there a chance that the website hasn't applied a discount yet that Google is aware of? Maybe a promotional code is involved?
>>46038706How do you get google notifications for that?
>>46038712I have no idea. I saw a tag icon on my drop down menu, and it said "this product you were interested in just went down in price, $50 off"I've never recieved a notification like this, but those plates would be an incredible deal if it were true.
>>46038726Yeah I'd buy some too. I don't really want shooters cut but for that price I'll take it.
Anyone have shit from MOS tactical? They're the only skeletal cummerbund with tubes that are in stock/orderable but the stitching looks sketchy from pics alone but I guess it doesn't matter if they're durable
>>46038320Just don't go to a huge riot....Stay home...Drive the long way to work if you live in Portland or wherever and avoid all the riots completely...There's absolutely no reason why you would be in a position where you would need to wear a crash helmet and be outside in a riot.>my business needs protectingIt's better to rebuild your business and be $100k in debt than to die outside your store, a helmet, plate carrier, and 6 mags won't save you from 20+ people kicking you to death.
>>46038854I bought one of their desert night camo jackets two months ago and it's finally shipping this week. I can't comment on the stitching because I don't have it yet.
>>46038860i know I've done some janky stitch jobs like this in the field and they've still held despite looking like ass but if they hold, they hold
>>46038863That's a good point. When it shows up I can take some pictures if you want. I don't know how that will translate to their cummerbunds but it's something at least.Just be prepared for a significantly longer wait than whatever they estimate on the product page.
>>46038867yeah post em, i'll probably ask again later since im not glued to following every gq threadI figure it's the same machines and same people doing all the stitching for their stuff so I'm sure it'll be a good indicator
>>46038873Yeah that sounds good, if I catch it I'll let you know. I try to lurk /gq/ sometimes. It should be, but on the flipside they could use different stitching for garments and gear. Still it was tempting enough for me to get one since I love the pattern but have having to wear a giant smock all the time.
>>46032783I'm looking at safariland holsters for a pistol with a light and they say one model will hold multiple lights, like the apl, tlr1, x300, and some lights I've never heard of. How forgiving is the fitment if one holster can fit all those different lights? Should I buy a heat gun just in case? I don't want to hit it with a heat gun and still not have it fit, then have a holster that I can't use or return.
>>46039084are you planning on carrying the same pistol with 5 different lights?

>>46040553Very dark you absolutely NEED gen 3'sin a city/urban area with lots of ambient light, gen 2+ is fine. I have a nvm-14 housing with gen 2+ photonis xd-4 tube in it. I got mine for 900$. I take walks in a city with a few parks and trails in it, when it's super dark outside and i'm in a trail with a bunch of trees blocking all the light, i cant see SHIT. I have a TLR1-IR light on my helmet so it lights up the forest trails I walk on.
>>46038075Ultralight gear is nice, but I worry about the durability. And the price premium. And now I'm thinking about all the people who pay for ultralight cookware and then use steel utensils.

>>46041387Nah watched some videos of a guy using gen 2+ devices and they seem fairly adequate for some uses. YES doesn’t mean shit unless you can tell me the functional difference.>>46042440HOW are they better? Not one of you can tell me why they’re functionally better and all the YouTube comparisons are full of wannabe LARPers trying to throw technical jargon out to justify shit they obviously have no need for.>>46042474Now THIS is good shit. Okay, so you’re saying that a 2+ will struggle without significant ambient light/moon and the IR light will only help so much? Thanks for the applicable response, m8.>Inb4 reee poorfagI could give a fuck what you think unless you actually use your gear and can tell me why it’s better. I can easily stretch to gen 3, I just want to know WHY I should besides “lmao, # is biggur”.
>>46043089In every possible way its better. Think of a way and gen 3 is better in that way.
>>46033398I got mine in a weeks time from Ebay and some outfitter website.
Will i be mocked for these?
>>46043143Okay, now we’re getting somewhere. However, let’s say my choice is between a 2+ with good WP and a Gen 3 with stand GP. How big is the difference?Keep in mind, I’m not trying to go door-kicking, I just want to navigate fields and woods at night and maybe pew pew when I can.

If I meaure 9" x 12" should I get small SAPI or medium SAPI cut plates?
>>46039084the safariland als doesn’t really fit like a typical holster, there is minimal contact between the body of the gun and the body of the holster meaning it’s much more forgiving with lights and shit. i wouldn’t worry but if you want to make sure, they have a list of all compatible guns and lights for each holster on its webpage.
>>46043885>A really good gen 2+ with good components goes toe to toeI never said that. Under very limited circumstances it will outperform Gen 3. Gen 3 will almost always compete for clarity, and will usually beat Gen 2. Overall, I believe Gen 3 will always beat Gen 2 for best condition resolution. >>46044043I like QD 2-point to 1-point slings. I’m enjoying my Haley Strategic one but can’t speak to others.
>>46044054Why? It's a secure lock without having that contact, so it minimizes the wear to the finish of the gun. It's not a passive retention system like a traditional kydex holster, so it doesn't need to grab super tight.
>>46043996Gotcha, that makes more sense.
>>46044114You need to make sure they're compatible with lvl 4 shin guards.
