Cannot decide what my next handgun should be. I know for sure I want it to be a glock. I already own a 9mm (sig) and I was planning on getting a .45 (glock 30) as my next handgun caliber. Now I'm stuck between a glock 19 and glock 30. Part of me feels guilty buying another 9mm and the other part of me thinks glock 30 is too small for .45

Any glock owners? Whay are your thoughts?
>>
>>46005697
Ignore the boomer-tier round unless you're going for a USP/1911/etc. Glock runs best in 9.

I hate this shit so much. I would rather buy a gun with a magazine disconnect than one with this shit permanently stamped into the side. At least I can easily remove a magazine disconnect.
>>
>>46005697
Go for the .45, it'll run just fine, and the ballistics have their advantages. If you think the grip is too short, a slightly larger capacity magazine with a grip extension would work.

Been thinking about picking up a .40 blaster for the range. Limited myself to poly-framed striker fired guns and wound up with a M&P 40 Performance Center or a G35. Never owned a Glock or S&W, so what do y'all think?

Have a P365 for carry and a Shadow 2 for range fuckery in Georg's God Given Diameter, want to branch out to something that will also let me do a .357SIG conversion maybe/someday.

The best part is by being absolute scumbags about the P320 problems, they're shooting their NGSW bid in the foot. May tank them despite having the most conventional and developed guns.

Pretty much a flip of the coin between the Glock and Smith & Wesson, I prefer the ergos and aesthetic of the latter, but they'll do fine.

I like em, like all magpul stuff hit hits a nice balance of usability, cost, and quality. I was gonna say I wish I had a better gun to put them on, but I think on most good 1911s it would be a downgrade

>>46008404
Figured, no harm in asking though
>>
>>46008519
Those grips look so out of place. IMO they only look good on tacticool 1911's with a rail.
>>
>>46008533
Ergonomically what would be the best on that 1911
>>
>>46008533
Kinda a fugly gun as it is, I could replace em but I do like the texture of em.
>>
>>46008533
If it doesn't have a wide spur hammer, wood grips, and a glossy blue finish, it honestly isn't a truly oldschool 1911 to me.
That thing has one of those tacticool combat hammers, a more matte finish, a magazine with a plastic baseplate, and an enlarged (probably ambi) safety, so to me, that grip doesn't look that out of place on the gun in question.

>>46008481
I like the ergos of some MagPul stuff, I love MOE handguards on AR15s, feel so good in my hands, get such a good grip. Don't look bad either, better looking than cheesegraters.

The slide stop being stiff and not being able to be used as a proper release is the only con the M&P M2.0 has. Otherwise, absolutely stellar handgun. I would be so bold as to say it's the best handgun being produced right now, at least in the 400-600 dollar range. S&W knocked it out of the fucking park with this one.

Also, you can just remove the detent under the slide stop and the slide will auto forward when you seat the mag with enough force(if you feel comfortable with that kind of thing), no slide release needed.
>>
>>46010615
Why do people have such a strong opinion about manual safeties? On some guns the safety is really tactile/comfy, and allows you to get away with more shenanigans without a holster.

I'm sure you'll name some contrived larp scenario where you need to draw in 0.0001 seconds to kill 15 attackers
>>
>>46010650
Naw senpai you did alright
>>
>>46010657
As a point of reference the removal of the manual safety was absolutely got institutionalization. I can hand a bum off the street and have him working a Glock in 30 seconds. I can’t hand the same illiterate bum a Beretta and expect him to be able to not get himself killed because he’s too dumb to flip a switch. A Glock has a bang button and a clip-go-away button. Literally baby’s first pistol-tier manual of arms.
>>
>>46010725
Much like Orange Man Bad, this latest generation of shooters seems to have an irrational hatred of the manual safety. Because it takes more time to learn and become competent with it. They completely ignore any benefits it can bring.
>>
>>46010653

No you got the patrician smooth shooter caliber for intelligent connoisseurs.

>>46011603
I wish companies wouldn't do it at all, but at least they're hiding it if they're putting it under the barrel, that's not halfway bad! Under there is tolerable, or under the trigger guard like HK does, or just asking nicely like Zastava pic related lol
>>
>>46010657
Because they like what they've used. It's the same as ARs, a well designed safety on a handgun doesn't slow you down one bit from spreading freedom.
>>
>>46011789
I'm not 100% sure I understand what you're saying, but it sounds like you had a failure to eject (empty case stuck between the barrel and slide), and you tried to clear it away by pulling the slide back, which let the empty case fall out but you let the slide go home too slow and that caused a jam with the fresh round?

If that's an accurate recounting, then boomerboss was right and the malfunction was caused by you lowering the slide slowly. Guns operate very fast and forcefully, don't baby them. Pull the slide back forcefully and let it go forward on its own. People call this "slingshotting," which is apt.

The G26 is fine. I think there are better deep conceal options currently (Hellcat/P365), but the G26 is very reliable/has a long track record, and since you're a gun newfag, its good because you can use it for home defense too. I'd get a 15-17 round mag with a grip extension for use at home, use the shorty mag for concealment.
>>
>>46015299
>>46015330
X-Grips will do this, you just need to buy the 15-17 round mag seperately and these will sleeve over the longer mags to give you a full grip.

>>46015598
Don’t forget the lives saved by safeties, when people have gone hands-on, and lost control of their weapons. There are objective, documented cases of this occurring in LE.
>>
>>46012929
Additional margin of safety, more carry options, all for the beneft of not shooting themselves while still comfortably carrying a gun while going on a daily life. Then there is the idea that in case someone steals your gun they might not be able to immediately use it but it's getting in the "20 armed attackers" scenario unless you're talking about children.

These posts are true.

The thing about instituonalization also applies to striker fired pistols in general to the point that they aren't held to even remotely same standards for the only reason that marketing men and magazines repeated this thing over and over for decade or two. The benefit of glockalikes is the "light and consistent trigger" but if we compare hammer SA fired guns there isn't much functional difference(as in, neither will go off unless the trigger is pulled, they have similar weight, length and so on) yet the only guns touted as "safe" without manual safety are striker fired and somehow it became their selling point when in reality they are simply selling rebranded condition 0. It seems that besides just repeating things they created or inspired some weird mentality in people that makes them react so harshly when this is brought up.
>>
What holster should I buy for a P80 940CL? I imagine a Glock 17 one.
>>
>>46015751

I don’t think there’s an appreciation for the fact that modern duty holsters have been designed in such a manner as to provide the maximum difficulty for a gun grab, while still affording the user ease of removal. This, also, is why I’m a strong advocate of open carry, along with manual safeties; the very nature of carrying a firearm ensures that for *any* confrontation there is now a firearm present. Any person other than the user gaining control of the weapon now has the hindrance of deactivating the weapon’s mechanical safety. If carried in a proper duty-holster, this would also potentially have to take place AFTER defeating the holster’s active retention mechanism. As well, there are physical techniques for maintaining retention control inside the holster. I don’t know what planet the Safetylets are living on, but countless officers have been killed by their own duty weapons, in no small part, thanks to the culture of all-guns condition zero all the time. Real life fights, as well as gunfights, seldom play out like an old-west, 12 o’clock “fill yer hand u sumbitch” situation. Furthermore, I’m not critiquing anyone’s decision to carry a safetyless pistol, in what is effectively a plastic sack with no active retention. I’ve had enough guns fall out of open-topped kydex to learn my lesson the hard way. To each, his own.

Uh, it'd be appropriate to touch her hands to show her how to hold a pistol but not otherwise. You can explain things, try not to be overwhelming because 80% of what you say isn't going to sink in. Go over the 4 rules of safety on the drive over, until she can repeat them.

Start with the gun empty, show loading procedure, firing, clearing and safing. Then load 1 round into the mag and repeat a few times. Then load 5 or 10 rounds and explain this time she doesn't have to keep cycling or clearing it, it will continue to fire for x shots. Use a .22. Don't make her shoot anything she doesn't want to, and don't put anything bigger than 9mm in her hands. Always watch for safety violations. Reactive targets are more fun than plain paper, get some cheap store brand soda or bring gongs or something, but start with paper first.

If she doesn't already have a fear of firearms she'll have fun, they always do.

NO TOUCHING.

I know, I just want hard plastic, like regular grip material. Judging by what happened to the Jericho market they're certainly a market for some LEGIT plastic grips. Ooh dang they could even incorporate a Crimson Trace or something into the right panel...

>>46017651
It's about 5 pounds SA, 9 pounds DA. PPQ is a little bit heavier, about 5-6 pounds. I like the P99 better, all mine have AMAZINGLY perfect breaks and shorter resets, but PPQ breaks seem to vary. Some have good breaks, some have creepy breaks. It can be fixed, but the fact that it's inconsistent would make me put it lower than the P99, in SA.

The only potential downside to the P99 SA is it breaks very far back at the frame, where the PPQ is farther forward.

Not without a special fixture, but yeah. It's not something most people could or would do at home. There aren't many businesses that will do it either, since the receiver is the serialized part it needs to be shipped a certain way and it's not worth the expense to ship it twice just to swap the barrel. Tactical Solutions PacLite (pic related) and similar products developed in that niche because of it. It was easier and cheaper to buy a new receiver than it was to have a Ruger Mark barrel changed or threaded.

I think that's a bit naive to think that these corporations really care, but as far as listening to customers, customer support and typical things that make companies good, Ruger, Sig and Beretta are at the top. I'd be looking at things like which companies make ban-state guns and go to the extra expense to get guns sold in gate-kept markets like CA, NY and MA. Who doesn't sell customers down the river or try to nickle and dime them (bye Sig). Who has the most bend-over-backwards warranties like Taurus, Ruger, Brownells, Sig and HK. Some of these things are at odds with each other, like you point out HK doesn't give a CRAP about you, but their warranty service is excellent for the original owner of the pistol. Sig sells you short off the bat, but if you submit for warranty work they don't leave you hanging.

If you want companies that ACTUALLY care, they're small, like Honor Guard, Rohrbaugh (RIP in peace) and Hi Point.

I need a final opinion on this /hg/. Should I get a glock? I lurk on here for ten minutes and see some guy talking about the issues with limpwristing under stress, and why its the reason you see so many cop bodycams with jamming glocks. I've seen that shit multiple times as well. if I pick up a 17 with an x300u will I be dead if I ever need to use it? My world is collapsing around me as I am unsure whether glock perfection is true or not.

If you miss, heavy projectiles will tend to go through a bunch of furniture or interior walls. If you hit, there's a pretty low risk of the bullet coming out the other side, even with FMJ, as long as you aim for the center.
>>
>>46022447
Cops don't do as much range time as most people think. Put in enough time and you can outshoot most police. Glocks eat any food you give them.

Limpwristing generally means two things; the first is that you had a sudden stroke and died in the gunfight, the other is that you have absolutely zero training. Get some practice in and it shouldn't be an issue, as the other guy says, cops suck dick at shooting, MANY departments have ridiculously bad qualification standards.

Glock is literally only useful for its reliability. There are guns that shoot smoother, look prettier, and are cheaper. None of them really come close to the reliability and ease of use that you get with a glock. There’s a reason why it’s considered babbys first gun

I'm surprised to hear that! Well there's plenty of worthwhile stuff to look at like Beretta 92/PX4, S&W M&P M2.0, CZ P10C, Walther PPQ and Sig P226, but step 1 is narrowing down your options. If you really don't want to do the work to find a gun better tailored to you, then just get whatever wafts into your field of view first even if it's a glok. But if you want something you'll enjoy, do a little work, go handle some stuff with a critical eye, figure out what you like and dislike and let's help build a list of potential buys for you.

There is a Beretta 92 Compact but it's not compact at all lol

S&W M&P Shield M2.0? sig P365?
>>
Burt, do I get a Langdon M9 or a MP 2.0 with a trigger job and a couple accessories?
>>
>>46023645
Hellcat/P365 if CCW is your primary concern. Beretta 92x Compact is close to the size of a G19 but on the heavier side.

Do you like striker or DA/SA? That's the answer!
>>
>>46023764
Nigga you need to get some taste first if that's even a question you have to ask.
>>
>>46023957
Never shot a DA/SA. I’ve heard it’s a learning curve but Feels great once you get it down
>>
>>46023764
beretta, anon....always beretta if available. the italians are a fine people and have always had an eye for detail and sophistication.
Beretta is what people with money go for, drug lords have gucci'd out berettas for a reason.

DA/SA is alot like sex, that first stroke is a long one.

Got a Colt Junior from '68 today (also a Detective Special and Win 94 post64) from my neighbor selling a collection. It's a really fun pocket gun.
>>

Assuming thats a saftey above the trigger?
>>
>>46024039
imo the ONLY reason to get a DA/SA for duty/carry is if you don't trust a striker and don't want a manual safety. The DA trigger is meant to be its safety.

At the range it doesn't matter, since you can cock the hammer if you want. Or practice DA/SA transitions for fun

Just stop fucking shooting for a while. You're not going to forget how to. And if you do have memory problems that bad, you need not own firearms.

Three G2Cs

Right. As well as slide lock

Nigger that is huge as shit, you fucking retard you should have just gotten a full kydex holster.
>>
>>46019785
So with money not being an option you would go with a beretta?
>>
LCP II or LC9s Pro? Both are used and both are $200. I used to carry the LC9s before I sold it to a friend years ago but now I’m looking for a pocket gun again. Should I buy my LC9s back or should I go smaller and get the LCP II?
>>
Lookin for a cheap wheelgun. Dont know where to start, most people on this board talk about other shit.

hi point

What are you looking for, a small caliber one just for recreation and target shooting, or something you want to defend yourself with?
>>
>>46025931
s&w model 10 is the gold standard for revolvers even before considering its price.
>>

>You're not going to forget how to.
Only if you dry fire regularly and with discipline. If not you will absolutely lose skill. Shooting handguns is not like riding a bike.
>>
Getting fucking tired of 9mm prices so I'm buying bricks of .22 to practice some shooting form with. What kind of .22 pistol should I get? I was thinking the tacticool mk IV so that way I can mount a cheap picatinny optic that can handle .22 and get a can for it

Streamlight tlr-7. You can get it for 105 bucks.

>C9s are actually really good
no they're not dude.
They are shit guns that work.

The taurus G2C is superior by every metric

>DA/SA is not for amateurs, I would suggest to her to cock the hammer on the draw and always use it in single-action.
Just pull the trigger dude, or teach her its not that hard lmfao
>>
>>46024039
Theres something special about having a hammer fired gun. Striker triggers feel like a staple gun and I personally wouldn't carry a gun with a fully cocked striker such as the p320,vp9 or PPQ.
>>
>>46025925
>striker gun for the pocket
Don't do this anon. Get a LCP,P32 or LCR.
