I’d say early Afghanistan/Iraq, the older stuff tends to be mostly olive drab or black, more recent stuff they have gone with a lot of SF and went variations of Multicam/OCP.

The early stuff had the old DPM, I remember seeing one video of what I believe was an SBS guy in a navy blue t shirt, DPM pants just loosing off rounds from a roof.

New ones are called virtus. That replaced the mark 7. The mk7 replaced the mk 6 and mk6 helmets, which are the round brimmed domed shape.

Virtus is excellent, light and easily adjusted. Can't comment on it's protective ability

I want a simple belt for carrying a pistol and mags, a couple pouches, and maybe a canteen. I am thinking some older alice style, is that still pretty good?
>>
>>40254921
You may want something a little more rigid unless you plan on running suspenders with it

Any good velcro webbing double belt system will work well for what you need while also giving you a minimalist inner belt that you can use for CC everyday.

I never said expensive. The last light I got was like a $30 chinesium. It lasted a little while then shit the bed. I was looking at inforce because Travis Haley worked with them to make >>40259449 so I assumed they'd be good. And costing more than twice as much as the thorfire piece of shit I bought last, I had hopes. But they were crushed. I red some of the reviews on amazon and the surprisingly few 1 star reviews made me lol. I might look at streamlight instead.
>>
>>40259490
>That has a smoke green look to it.
The shape of the flap and the way the taped edge looks also makes me lean this way. If we could see the MOLLE attachment for it then we could confirm.
>>
>>40257020
everyone still has boonie hats the reason people don't wear them is because of gay regulations within the military for when you are allowed to wear them. helmets are also getting lighter and for non-special boy units who dont have opscores they also have gay rules about when they are allowed to take off their helmets and wear hats and when that hat can be a boonie and not a garrison cap.

if we start fighting a real war. light units will not be required to wear helmets all the time while doing long range foot patrols and shit.
>>
>>40259490

>>40259050
As operational webbing it's wank, but for just screwing around innawoods it's a cheap and functional belt kit, that doesn't look too 'oper8tor'.

>>
>>40261651

>>40257018
>>
>>40261328
This is correct.

We all prefer wearing boonies over helmets, but dress regs make you wear helmets a lot of the time. Tasking, the area you are in and the weather can all allow you to wear boonies over helmets though.

Hi /k/,

I'm looking for a pack setup that would have a small, preferrably attached to my PC, pack and a larger assault pack which I could throw on top of it.

Smaller pack pack would be for carrying hydration and other small mission specific items. It would need to be relatively flat as I spend quite a lot of time mounted and the larger pack should be able to go on top of it.

So far, the Haley Flatback has been the one to catch my eye regarding the smaller one. Is there better alternatives? Any factors that I might of missed that I should take into consideration?

can anyone tell me what holster i had for a meusoc 1911 in the marines?

it was tan hard plastic. two stretchy bands went on the inside of the leg. the release was a button on the inside of the holster, which released a band covering the 1911 around the hammer

we called them 'safari holsters' because of the color. i think they made a version for the m9 as well, because there was a dispute about whether the 1911 would fit in the holster designed for a m9 + laser pointer.

Read the paste bin in the OP join the discord. survive the bullying and ask intelligent questions. If you do your part and read and research before asking extremely general or dumb questions people will help you. Things you want to start with are what weapons do you have? what would be the make usage of your gear? what is your budget? do you want armor or not?

if you just want to go to the range a plink targets we will give you completely different suggestions than if you want to ruck march or do a full larp operation with your friends in the woods.

I mean a plate carrier which instead of using SAPI-cut plate backers, I could also use MBAV-cut soft armor as backers. OP Tactical has their own specially-made version of the Mayflower APC which does this, it turns out.

Hey /gq/, I managed to get myself an SDS Warrior for $70
there is only surface damage, chipped paint, minor scratches, etc.
I'll post a pic of it if you guys want, but I just wanna make sure whether or not the helmet is just a meme
>>

Refresh my memory - is this the helmet with the insane amount of walnut dust in the paint? If so, the helmets were generally good with some history of delaminations during hard use. They were fairly light and protection against penetration falls behind the ACH a bit. The comfy memory foam pads are meme tier. Replace those with TW or Oregon Aero, Skydex, etc. The comfy foam does not protect well against trauma. Good luck finding rails that fit it. For a stripped, shroud only rig I would not balk at having to use it.
>>
>>40270182
I don't know about the walnut dust, but the helmet didn't come with memory foam pads, I just bought a pack of $20 skydex pads that was conveniently placed next to the helmet.
I'm not worried about rails, honestly if I could find an NVG mount to cover up the front hole that'd be great
>>
>>40270235
>I don't know about the walnut dust
Is the surface of the helmet rough? ACHs are generally smooth with little patches of walnut dust here and there. The other one that I remember was rough all over - breddi shur was SDS Warrior.
>if I could find an NVG mount
Do not get a cast USGI flat mount. They shatter easily. Get one of the later shiny, machined ones if poorfag - or Wilcox Hybrid / Norotos Universal to cover the hole if not poorfag.
>>
>>40270314
Yeah, the surface is fairly rough, somewhat similar to the surface texture of the US M1 helmet
>do not get a cast USGI flat mount
alright, i'll steer clear from that one

It's an outdated armor vest with poor design choices. I don't fault militaries for issuing dated designs but for personal/private purchase it's hella stupid, especially when the armor isn't easy to get, isn't cheap for what it is, and isn't good as good as current offerings.

I thought you could just fit regular SAPI plates in there. Aside from not having a quick-release, I don't see any apparent flaws.

That's how I'm running currently, but the shoulder straps can be a hassle when shouldering a gun, I don't need access to the backpack myself (although apparently there are pc attached backpacks that do have the ability of accessing them without taking the pc off?) and just in general having the ability of carrying hydration + some small things all the time on me and being able to throw an assault pack on top of it would (or a breaching kit which is it's shoulder carried backpack type of thing) would be the most modular setup.

Rest of our guys use stuff like multiple pouches on their back for different things, canteens on their cummerbund or belt, regular assault packs or whatever combination of these, and depending on ops length and whether you have to sit in transport for any length of time or not, they all have their problems.

No offense taken, and this is just the idea that I got after thinking how I would like my setup to be. I'm willing to be convinced that it's a shit idea.

They are not suppose to be waterproof. They are reef shoes. They drain and dry fast.
>>
>>40265809
They are good summer shoes. They are made to be reef shoes and worn with no socks. In their intended role they are perfect. If you wear them a lot with no socks you will want to build up some calluses on your feet. You will get hot spots.

If you want to wear them as everyday shoes with socks, you may want to go up a size. I found the factory insole to be too hard on my feet. I replaced it with a softer insole and they were perfect. Regular pavement will wear the soles fast. But it is perfect for slick wet conditions.
