You can tell it to keep re-trying to record for N seconds, doing re-tries every M seconds, with --retry-max N --retry-streams M. For example, I have streamlink run for 10 minutes doing 1 second retries. Obviously, once the stream goes live it won't stop recording it at 10 minutes, but will record it in full.
