My version of ffmpeg really hates these files for some reason.
>>37784800What's your issue? I've not tried optimizing the conversion at all, I'll warn. I just keep my recordings to around 20 seconds to keep the converted filesize under 3MB. Been a good rule of thumb so far.
>>37775871In Okinawa, maybe.
>>37784840The issue might actually be with mpv, not sure. In any case trying to open the stream with "mpv http://hls.shimogo-live.jp/camera3/index.m3u8" results in a static image even though mpv continues to buffer the stream. mpv uses ffmpeg as a backend so I'm not sure which one is at fault. Some of the test conversions I did with ffmpeg were resulting in moov atom errors which was equally bizarre. Running ffmpeg and then using mpv to open the file works but this would eventually result in a huge file which I'd rather avoid. Also I've noticed 20 seconds at the native bitrate seems to generate files over 3mb. What bitrate are you using?
>>37785017I'm just recording .avi as I watch the stream in VLC. All defaults for everything. Then I just convert the recordings through FFMPEG later. No editing or anything, again all defaults. I don't really into video, to be frank. You probably know more than me.
>>37785058Looks like 750k in yours.

>>37785017I have the same issue with mpv - seems to get the first file chunk, doesn't play it though. issue here on gh - https://github.com/mpv-player/mpv/issues/7033yt-dlp also has this problem. youtube-dl will capture the stream correctly though but you can't see it while it downloadsthere is also a simple way to capture video using a firefox extension called "Live Recorder" - gives you a record button in the browser so you can grab a clip from a cam, actually saves in VP8 webm so no need to convert but you will need to use FFMpeg to remove the audio track and fix the indexing so just run ffmpeg -i inputfile.webm -c copy -an savefilename.webm and you're set. Very handy for grabbing little clips of snowy webcams :) Not so great for archiving or recording long streams. It will record in whatever resolution you're watching at.
