it might be funny to stack all the bullet erasers just to see if you can render all patterns useless but honestly tenshi's card is just one and can negate a lot on its own

The game gets really easy after you unlock some good cards to start with.

Managed to 1cc on lunatic with Reimu on the release day, it was surprisingly nice. I got really lucky getting these cards too;
also I can't really compare it right now but I think her shot type got a little stronger? I had an easier time in the early stages now compared to the trial version.

I got a red ricocheting knife card very separate from Sakuya's normal equipment card for 1ccing with her, but I'm not getting the same kind of cards for the other characters. Is there some kind of condition for these?

Can't read moon so I dont know what most of the cards do and too scared by the time I'm halfway through the game to pick anything but life pieces, but at the start I pick the lower PoC and the tambourine which I've found is pretty handy for survival.
>>
>>34583804
Reimu and Sakuya were buffed, Marisa and Sanae were nerfed (compared to the demo).
>>
Dumping new card effects, mostly shamelessly stolen from some Discord tranny.

>Active Cards:
Remi's (Flan's?) Vampire Fangs: Simple melee damage after a short charge period.
Miko's Aura: Surrounds you with lasers that erase some bullets and deal a little damage.
Okuu's Sun: Big, BIG dick damage expanding in an area around you, which eventually engulfs the entire screen. Lasts long enough to destroy a spellcard and the non-spell after it to boot, but has a ludicrous cooldown (roughly the entirety of stage 5 including the boss).
Raiko's Drum: Erases bullets in a small radius around you. Len'en flash bomb shit.
Sumireko's Tarot Cards: A barrier placed where you use it for a few seconds. Similar to the drum but larger, lasts longer, and can't stop lasers.
Tsukasa's Soul Jar: Consumes 1.00 power to use a bomb, MoF/SA style.
Megumu's Rice: Adds 1.00 power, or a bomb if you're at 4.00 power. Surprisingly reasonable cooldown.
Lily White: Summons Lily as an enemy. Lily White appears twice, and then Lily Black, before the cycle repeats. Lily White drops a bomb piece, and Lily Black drops a life piece. Both Lilys have more HP and shoot more bullets the more you summon them.

>Passive Cards:
Suwako's Frog: Your bullets explode on impact, like Sanae's frog bullets.
Aya's Shoes: Aya's SA effect.
Keiki/Mayumi's Haniwa: Your options can erase shots. Somewhat inconsistent.
Kaguya's Box: After every boss phase, get an extra bomb piece.
Mamizou's Tanuki: Adds 1.00 power immediately. Prevents power loss below 3.00.
Yuyuko's Ghost: Erases grazed bullets.
Komachi's Coins: Instead of a life, lose 200 cash on death (if available).
Narumi's Jizo: Adds an extra life immediately, and one life piece after each stage.
Patchy's Spell Circle: Adds an extra bomb immediately, and one bomb piece after each stage.
Momoyo's Centipede: Grows stronger the longer you go without dying or using bombs.
Tenkyuu's Rainbow Card: Cannot be chosen at the start. Removes all of your cards, but at the next shop you receive all non-default cards for free. Taking this card on stage 5 and 1ccing the run will unlock the ability to start with 3 cards.

this is honestly the best touhou since DDC
anyone that disagree is objectively wrong and I wanna hear why you think otherwise
aside from too many streaming paterns and some visibility issues I really have no grips with this one and the roguelite element is pretty much what touhou needed to feel fresh
>>
>>34585656
Sakuya's so good that if you focus her knives, bosses melt down nearly instantly. ZUN did a great job of adding two more focused shot modes to PCB SakuyaB, I really like how she plays now.
Also, if Sanae really got nerfed, I don't think it was by much because she still murders everything.

Yeah, ZUN did a great job with the cards system. It's definitely better than 16 and 17 with their shitty gimmicks. I'm glad that you aren't forced to have an active card and money pickups just replace point items instead of filling the screen with extra waves of shiny garbage.
Too bad stage 4&6 newhus are ugleh, atmosphere is meh and music peaks somewhere around middle stages.

This game is so much fun!
ZUN improved the engine significantly for this game, controller players can now use trigger buttons without resorting to joytokey and the game just feels more polished than usual anyways
The card system is incredibly fun, I spent around 9 hours with the game when it came out and it was very thrilling finding out what card does what with friends, as well as unlocking them all. (I couldn't pay the demo before this, so I was completely blind).
I only got the normal 1ccs and an ex clear, but I haven't had this much much fun with a main game for a while!
Last but not least, the patterns are very fun, a significant step up from 16 and 17 on that, doing challenge runs is gonna be exciting!!

Don't worry, anon. I'm a relatively new player who only recently started trying and succeeding in getting 1ccs, but I'm probably having a ton more trouble than you. I only got to stage 6 in one of my 1cc attempts out of a few, still died though. We can make it through the pain and suffering together.
>>
For all you new players trying to get through Kouryuudou by picking a life card every stage, you should really try to unlock some good non-item cards and use those instead. Many of them can save you from more that one miss over the course of a stage, meaning them have more utility than a simple 1-up. Raiko and Sumireko are good as bomb stand-ins; Patche and Sannyo give you potentially lots of resources; Eirin and Eiki help prevent dumb misses.I'd also recommend always starting with Saki because it makes almost every single part easier.

On another note, that calculation from last thread about how many routes there are is clearly not quite right, and a fair bit of complexity has been introduced by the blank card, but I'll get around to that at some point.
>>
>>34591382
>On another note, that calculation from last thread about how many routes there are is clearly not quite right
What? There's only 2 routes; beat Chimata without Chimata's card (normal end) or with it (another end).
>>
>>34585656
>I'm curious to see how good she is now.
Use Saki's card to melt through things at full power.
The only thing worrysome are the later stages, and some like stage 5 that end up being more of a survival stage since she doesn't have a homing shot.
>>
>>34591462
See >>34510896
Just for the fun of it, if you wanted to treat every single card choice as a different "route", the numbers grow explosively. The correct answer will probably still be in the hundreds of trillions or thereabouts, but it needs some tweaking.
>>
Was the alice doll nerfed? I swear people were saying it was good during the demo but I've been using it and noticed it's damage output is so low it's barely even worth having
>>
>>34591855
I'm not sure. I haven't tried it yet.
>>
How do you unlock new cards to equip at the beginning?

Any ETA on a translation patch? I know it just came out but I don’t know if any translators are mentioning progress updates anywhere, or if there’s a pastebin or something I can reference. It’d be nice to know what the endings say if I can get them.
>>
>>34591855
seems good enough to me. the damage output may be lower than something like Saki's wolf but it is constant, which is great for Marisa and Sakuya who lack homing shots
Reimu's unfocused or Sanae's focused may be even better cards but I didn't check them out yet
>>
>>34592537
>How do you unlock new cards to equip at the beginning?
You buy them. Unless you mean card slots, in the demo you had to clear the game as each character once.

Thank you for responding anon, but I figured how to do it. Sorry, I took yours and resized it in ps
I was a little bit hasty with that question, I should have tried before asking, but I really liked your idea! I have been keeping up this multicolored chart thing with the introduction of HSiFS since that game modified the engine, and the introduction of subshots.
UM is the latest version of the current engine but stills follows the sub shot theme with the cards, and since rainbows are relevant this is what fits the most imo.

This Extra is retardedly difficult. The stage portion feels about twice as long as usual, and is full of bullshit that hoses particular shot types and isn't made any easier when you know it's coming. Disappointing compared to the stage design of the main game.

My Japanese is too shitty to read the in-game dialogue, though just good enough to decipher the card descriptions, so I've been playing to unlock everything while skipping any story stuff until the full translation is out. But even without knowing anything about who the final boss is or why the heroines are fighting her, the fight itself comes across as extremely flavorful. All her cards have a clear theme of "focal points", those being either you, or her, or both. And I found them more interesting than Okina's, which were a bit on the nose for her theme, more understandable without specialist knowledge than Miko's, and less frustrating than Shinmyoumaru's. Also, this might just be me, but I found the fight very difficult to sight-read, which fits nicely with the game's overall theme of 'you don't do it on the first try'.
So very cool final boss, some neat stuff in stages 4 and 5, and a particularly cool stage 4 boss as well. I like it. As expected of the master, Mr Oota.

Autistically speaking, code-wise it definitely it just generates the same section a few times and rotates each of them. Hence the "first" projectile from each section is drawn on top of all others. So there have to be some relatively safe spots at certain angle and distance from each of those. If I was going for lunatic clear I'd record the non-spells and replay a few times in slowmo to find the safe spots but as far as normal and hard go, these are pretty manageable.

Once you figure out what cards work out for you, I think the game is very easy. Raiko drum is sleeper OP and you can cheese out 1CCs by replacing skill with lives/bombs. I can't say how difficult the game is without cards.

Don't care for stage 5's theme? It's probably my favourite.
The way the sun goes behind the mountain, night falls, the ryuuju light up the mountain with rainbow colours, and the fairies start shooting star projectiles in sync with the song going absolutely nuts is one of the coolest parts of the game. I think in general UM has some of the strongest stage themes in the series.

Here's how to use Sakuya:
1. If there are lots of enemies on screen, hold down before focusing.
2. If there's a boss on screen, hold up before focusing.
Congratulations, everything now dies in 1 second.

You're relying on homing shots. If you're struggling with Sakuya because of the lack of homing, then Marisa won't be much better because she's literally just a forwards shot.

>1cc'd hard on my first attempt
This game spoils you so much with survival options when you can start with three cards
>>
>>34598552
Nevermind I figured out how to capture this spell at least, you have to start at the centre bottom when the spell aims at you and then charge upwards and move just to the side so that the bullets don't spawn on you, then loop around safely and go left to right like usual. The initial charge does a lot of damage making it actually reasonable to kill it with just the shots you get off in between waves
I did it with Marisa too and it's way easier with her (although harder than Reimu or Sanae)
Sakuya just sucks

All right, with UFO done that's a Normal 1CC on every mainline Windows game! Gonna try tackling the extra stages now (while getting the other UM endings on the side), thinking either IN or MoF for the first one.
>>
>>34599077
Huh I got it in 22 attempts as Marisa but took 83 with Sakuya
Also I just managed the Sakuya Extra clear, there's definitely a learning curve with her but I still think she's way worse than Reimu and Sanae even once you get the hang of her.
It's kind of obvious in retrospect but a helpful tip is to aim your knives to the side whenever you're doing a pattern where you want to dodge to the side (doesn't help in Dragon Eater since you need to unfocused move but for others it's super helpful)
I guess I'll see how hard Marisa is

Also I was using Yuyuko's card and it actually seems super helpful, it's good for the second spell as well as the survival as well as just in general it can randomly save you sometimes if you're lucky

Man this game does start getting way easier once you have a decent selection from the start and can begin with two cards. No 1cc yet but I've noticed a huge difference. Weird to have this almost RPG like sense of progress in a touhou.

So what's the best bullet-cancelling active card?
>>
>>34598894
>>34599077
Which one is "card 11"? I capped all of the EX spellcards in spell practice with Marisa; not reliably to the point where I'll attempt it an actual runs, but it only took like 10 attempts to get a first cap of the more difficult cards.
Some of them are much easier in spell practice than in actual runs, though, since the wind-up animation let's you misdirect the first wave [useful for the 2nd card, the card with explosions, and the card where a ton of bullets fan out and converge to your location (the 11th?)].
I really liked the EX stage this time around. It's not too difficult (probably one of the easier EX stages), but it's good and flavorful dodging.
I'm a big fan of the EX survival card, since the random aimed butterflies makes it feel like you have some kind of agency, and you're not just waiting for the timer while following a route. It just feels satisfying to clear out a lot of bullets.
>>

I think both spells can be done either way, I did both using only (or mostly?) horizontal movement, if I recall correctly. It's almost a steady rhythm, until the slight RNG causes a gap to not appear where/when it should, and you have to react to this. It took me a long time to get somewhat consistent.
I think it helps to only (mostly?) move in one direction, since it makes it easier to intuitively know where your character is, and gives you one less thing to worry about. Maybe adjust a bit up and down (or left-right) while waiting for gaps to appear? It's an "I love not thinking" spell, since thinking is too slow, so you gotta train your brain to develop intuition. Grind it out with thprac, if you want your brain to pick it up quicker. I don't even know exactly how I do it, I just "do".
>>
>>34605555
>>34606260
Seconding Raiko. Or maybe Sumireko, which is fairly similar.
Both instantly clear an area around you: Sumireko leaves a lingering barrier but has a longer cooldown. The cooldown it's still short enough that you'll have it for every spellcard assuming there is a non-spell between each card.

It's only hard at the very beginning when you have no card slots and no good cards to start with. With 3 card slots unlocked you can do all kinds of stupid shit, such as picking 3 good actives at the start and spamming them in rotation so you don't even have to dodge.

Sakuya is the only one I've ever been able to clear EX 11 with in Spell practice due to her damage output. I'm still working on the routing (took me like 100 tries, the biggest problem for me is Momoya moves so I have to adjust myself so I can hit those empty spots) for it but I can probably clear this in game with Remilia fang or Raiko drum.

This might be the only thing I outright dislike. If you fuck up you lose a ton of power. Once I get Mamizou’s card I dont think I’ll ever let go of it.
>>
>>34609464
why did you choose to do it in the hardest way possible?
>>
>>34609589
If there's an easier way, I'd like to see it since it would help. Otherwise, I did it because in like 99% of my attempts, moving to the empty space when the spellcard starts is safe. I thought to myself I can probably find a way to abuse it and I'm still working on it.
>>
So /jp/, what do you use to play? Controller/stick and if so which one? Keyboard? Mouse?
Use to play with keyboard for years, but recently been using a Dualshock3 and been trying out a 8BitDo SN30 Pro+. The SN30 is really nice but I'm not 100% sure if I like it's dpad more then the DS3's. Always been a bit partial to the PS1 to PS3 's style of dpad.
>>
How much 2hu you play? I am alsways tired no matter what, so I can`t play it more then like 3-5 practice attempts on a boss at a time. If I play for too long I just lose all focus and die to everything, but the problem is that it will take ages to cc anything at this rate.
>>
>>34609705
Primarily a keyboard. I use two since I have a faulty shift on one and arrows on the other.
Sometimes I use a controller- analog stick for movement.
>>
>>34609705
I was a secondary until the moment I borrowed a controller from my brother.
When I used to try to play on my old membrane keyboard, I could not even press down and left at the same time, so you could guess that my dodging skills were therefore ass. But on the other hand, now I can't play on a keyboard.
Also, I bind my bomb key on the left dpad button, the same dpad I use for movement, so I only use my thumbs to play Touhou.

>If I play for too long I just lose all focus and die to everything, but the problem is that it will take ages to cc anything at this rate.
Take a break. Don't do it all in one go.
>>
>>34609774
It's probably easier. I'll keep this in mind for Reimu and Sanae. I still think if I optimize the method I'm experimenting with, I can clear the spellcard 10 secs+ faster than with this method and Sanae/Reimu.
>>
>>34609774
This strat looks like it could be done with Sakuya if you lock on the angled shot when in the corners, but it would still be more work then Reimu for sure.
>>
>>34609716
When I play shumps its usually for a 1-3 hour window. But I find I do FAR the best either in the morning when I'm rested, or after doing something physical like yard work, etc. Getting the blood flowing helps the brain to think fast for sure. And maybe a whisky or two to steady the hands.
>>
>>34609774

>>34609774
This works for Marisa as well, just gotta be patient (and get lucky with the stray bullets after the waves, in my case).
>>
>>34609716
I'm mostly playing around 8-9 hours over the course of a whole day on average (I haven't been playing for a very long time) since I'm a neet with above average concentration and I sometimes play without focusing too hard when I get bored. Funnily enough I rarely feel tired at the end of the day for some reason; masturbating is 10x times worse for my focus than any amount of touhou has ever been.
>>
>>34609716
I play Touhou on a daily basis. I try to play for at least an hour a day.
>>
>>34609894
after experimenting with it a bit more, I think it's better for Sakuya to bite the bullet and take some aimed at the middle so she can sit there and deal some damage otherwise you'll just not get anything done
the other three definitely benefit a lot more from straight side to side sweeps

Finally cleared EX stage. I went back to check over my replay and it looks like it desync'd around the spinning laser spellcard (Spellcard 9). I don't know why but the card should of ended with a 2nd Remilla bite. For whatever reason, the active card also stops showing whether it's recharging or not after Misumaru's shop. Oh well, my replay is marked as cleared and I know deep in my heart I did it so it's fine. 3 more characters to go! Byakuren + Remilia + Saki is the strongest combination!
>>
Does anybody else feel as if stages are significantly easier than bosses? I'm not talking about just UM, I'm talking about Touhou as a whole. I can typically go through the stages without missing or bombing but once I reach a boss I have might have to start using bombs or even if I don't I still fuck up on one of the spell cards, although it depends on the difficulty setting and game. In EoSD's case, I have got good enough that I can get all the way up to Sakuya's second non spell (the mid boss one counting as her first) without having to miss or bomb on Normal mode with MarisaA.
>>
>>34610951
The bosses are the focus of the game even more so than other shooters, especially considering the spell card system, so it's not unusual that stages are easier than bosses. The stages felt pretty hard in UM though.
>>
>>34610951
Keep in mind EoSD has a lot of enemies that don't shoot any bullets at all until they appear in place. You can make the screen very empty by killing enemies before they have a chance to shoot anything out. ZUN sort of learned his lesson and made later enemies either shoot bullets while they're off screen or give them enough hp that you'll have a dodge a few bullets before the die.
>>
>>34610951
as the series progresses I feel like stages get harder while bosses get easier
shots stopped really being spread in 10 and at some point fairies started surviving more than one bullet meaning things can get out of hand very quickly if you can't defeat them all in time, which is especially a problem for Marisa since penetrating lasers are banned
>>
>>34610951
It is the point? It is just a warm up before the boss, and also an opportunity to get bigger score and more lives

Like what >>34612747 said. Byakuren's card extending the length of your bomb also gives you alot of time for Remilla's fang to recharge so after a single bomb, you can basically roll up to their face and fang them again to end the card. It's a very cheesy combo.

Yeah, I think enemy health is chunkier than usual to make damage output cards more enticing. Even at 4.00 I feel a bit underpowered if I dont have wolf or an extra option or something. And the powerloss on death is brutal, if it werent for attack cards to mitigate it, it would honestly ruin the game for me. It’s a little too close to gradius syndrome, but the cards are at least usually enough.

Losing two lives in a row feels like a run ender now though.

>>34614086
It can't really be overwhelmed. It's just based on a timer, and when the timer runs out, it starts to dodge poorly.
There are some attacks it cannot really dodge, but that's more due to an oversight than design.
>>
>>34614086
Aya and Medicine
the AI moves by reacting to bullets around it, Aya's fan bullets move too quickly for them to get away in time and Medicine's ability to slow them down fucks with them because they think they can move out in time when they can't
any other character is just a test of endurance
>>
>>34614160
forgot to mention that Marisa and Shiki's lasers can also cause cheese them if they're focused on firing at Lily/Level 4 attack because the hitboxes are instant and they have no chance to react but that happens rarely and using Shiki is probably gonna get you killed much faster than the AI
>>
>>34614160
I think Marisa's lasers and Youmu's black EX attack also can get them, if they spawn on top of them. It's much rarer, but it can happen occasionally.

Try running with Japanese locale. Based on personal experience, it might be some directX related stuff, or that the process is already running the background, but it'd help if the text was readable.

I spent the last 5+ hours trying to beat EX mode with Reimu, thinking it would be easier than clearing it with Marisa. Swapped over to Marisa and cleared EX mode, 2nd try. Disclaimer: I've been bomb spamming/dying through 99% of Momoya's fight so I don't actually know if Reimu or Marisa has an easier time clearing spellcards legitimately. But I'm having a rough time scamming out a win with Reimu.
>>

Can you torrent?
https://nyaa.si/view/1175232
I recommend starting with Touhou 6, since it's the first Windows game and the first game that's still 100% canon. It also happens to be a good shmup for beginners, since the patterns you need to dodge aren't as elaborate as in later games.
Expect to spend some time and effort 1CCing each game. Practice makes perfect, so try to practice efficiently. Good luck!

I don't know what setup I was supposed to be using for Extra, but the Vampire Fang lets you cheese every spellcard. Shit's pretty busted.

Practiced for a couple hours, on my best run I made it to Mokou's survival spell before kicking the bucket. Fujiyama Volcano was the hardest spell card bar none for me, fuck that shrapnel effect. Feeling confident about this though.
>>
>>34615281
Good job anon! Honestly, fang is the only card you need. It absolutely melts so many cards.
>>34615392
Just use whatever you like, anon. Pretty much everything is useful except Cirno's card (unless it got buffed from the demo) and probably Koishi's. Yes, even the UFO has SOME use (on normal).
>>
>>34615576
I'd say Koishi's is better than Mamizou's. Since you only lose 50 per hit with Koishi, you have to get hit 3 times before you go below what you would with Tanuki and it's pretty unrealistic that you're gonna get hit those 3 times. Add that to the fact that it's easier to recover your POW since it's only 50 lost meaning you get back to full quicker and the little tiny bonus of not having to deal with enemy collision makes it vastly better than Tanuki. Barley Rice also does Tanuki's job better in every way, it's really the worst card in the game by virtue of being totally outclassed on top of requiring multiple pichuun's in a short span of time to even be of any value.
>>
>>34615758
that you're gonna get hit those 3 times before picking up just 50 POW*
>>
>>34615758
>>34615768
Even though the Tanuki isn't that great, I think it can be worth taking if you're low on POW after a boss, and the other options aren't great.

Although maybe just buying a life would be better, now that I think of it.
>>
Those three cards slots are the good shit, helped me 1cc Normal as Sakuya. I guess getting Saki and Narumi early on helped a lot too though.
I'm really not looking forward to trying out Marisa. You guys better not be bullshitting when you say Remi's card is busted. I don't wanna be dodging any more than I strictly have to.

I adore the stage 3 song. Gives me real good vibes, and sorta reminds me of earthbound’s ost for some reason.

The rest of the ost hasn’t really stuck out to me but this one might end up one of my favorite songs from the whole series.

Some of the cord progression sounds like Pollyanna. It's one of my favorite tracks too.
>>
>>34616517
Yeah the Stage 3 theme is my favorite song in the game.
>>
>>34616517
Chimata's theme is slowly growing on me, but it doesn't compare much to masterpieces that pump you up like Shinmyoumaru's, Junko's, or Keiki's themes. Then again her boss fight does feel a bit less intense than those, especially with the pseudo-survival card and the survival card (at least until there are knives everywhere at the last spell).

Been a very casual player for almost a decade. Decided last month I was finally gonna start playing these games properly. normal 1cc'd both routes of HRtP about two weeks ago and just normal 1cc'd SoEW with Shot A, about to try again with B. Feels very similar so it shouldn't be hard at all although I am a bit worried about Shot C. That's a big speed penalty.

And done with UM (for now). I've got mixed feelings about this game. Fantastic gameplay mechanics but I have no real love for any of the stages or characters outside of Extra stage and maybe Mike. Stage 5 is visually interesting but the music is...wonky, I guess? Chorus is nice but it feels like the rest of the song just doesn't mesh well.

Sakuya and Sanae are bonkers. Reimu feels fine. Marisa doesn't feel as good to use, mostly because she doesn't have anything really unique about her shots other than they shoot straight and her damage is alright. Wished ZUN would stop being a coward and give back her piercing lasers.

Yeah, some patterns are way faster than those in the modern games and they last for longer. You can easily lose 2-3 lives in difficult parts. At least that's what happened to me in LLS's Extra.

>>

>Whah! Shes fast!
>>
>>34620200
The first few days when only the UI was translated there would be crashes if you came across missing dialogue in the patch. It seems like they filled things in now but I haven't played all the way through yet so I'd suggest anyone using it confirms it's good to go before attempting any serious runs with it. It would suck to get a good run only to find out it's going to crash during dialogue on one of the later stages.
>>
>>34621292
Was a tweet this morning (or last night?) about them fixing it. Things are running smooth currently. But yeah, it was totally broke at first.
>>
>>34620200
Did they finish the full game yet? When I was playing last night, only the first half plus the ability cards were translated. I also had a weird bug where the card descriptions were "mismatched." It eventually fixed itself for some reason, probably when I finished unlocking all of the cards.
>>
>>34621445
Look to be just up till the mid point of stage 4. Stage 4's boss is not translated.
But all items to looks to be translated.
>>
>>34620279
Hey, that's not her speed!
She must be using the tengu card to warp!
>>
>>34618939
The chaotic nature of the Ying Yang ball made a 1cc seem almost impossible to me at first but the scoring system in that game is actually extremely busted allowing you to get easy lives during the normal stages, especially if you use bombs.

>>34620176
Oh is that an issue? I haven't noticed anything like that so far, hopefully it stays that way. I'm having a lot of fun so far though. The desire for "just one more run" is with me practically all the time whenever I can't play. It was there for HRtP too. These games are lots of fun.
>>
>>34622646
I gave up on 1ccing HRtP a bit too quickly. What’s the scoring method to use?
>>
All the other PC-98 games run smoothly but Lotus Land story runs like ass. Anyone know how to fix this?
>>
>>34624440
Keeping the orb off the ground and chaining is worth way more points than the p items, prioritize juggling it over those. But mainly bomb at the beginning of any level will instantly clear most of it and potentially give you multiple lives.
It becomes less useful in the last handful of stages which are pretty much designed to automatically net you huge chains.
So long as you persevere you'll get it. Reimu soccer is a lot of fun in its own right.
>>
>>34624651
Are you using NP2fmgen? If so, are you using the modified HDI?
If that's not it, maybe check your emulator settings.
>>
>>34624748
I'm using NP2 with a patched ver. of LLS
Do I have to use unpatched?
>>
>>34624789
No, that should be correct. I don't know any more than that, maybe something in https://www.shrinemaiden.org/forum/index.php?topic=11117.0 will help.
>>
How does ancient magatama work? Doesn't seem to do anything.
>>
Is it me or is Marisa weak in this game? Even Master Spark doesn't feel like it does much damage unless buffed up with Byakuren's scroll.
>>
>>34626257
Sanae is the strongest despite the number because every shot will land no matter where you are. Sakuya and Reimu got a big buff from the demo but Marisa is the same.
>>
>>34626200

https://en.touhouwiki.net/wiki/Unconnected_Marketeers/Ability_Cards
>>
>>34626200

it's kinda poopy outside of a few niche patterns
>>
>>34626266
Sanae (and Reimu for that matter) is only stronger IF you can't aim with Sakuya. If you can, Sakuya is objectively the strongest shot type, it's not even close.
>>
>>34626281
>>34626317

I've never played a touhou game but I've always wanted to get into it. I was planning to start with EoSD because I know the music but it seems like it's hard to run on modern PCs. Are any of the steam games good starting points?
>>
>>34627586
I personally think Mountain of Faith is the best starting game, the bomb mechanic in that game lets you comfortably get away with bombing a bunch while you're learning to get better and... that's it, really. MoF is the most simple game in the series. Just pure, simple dodging.
>>
>>34627586
>it's hard to run on modern PCs
no, go to Moriya shirne and download it
>>
>>34627586
The only problem you're likely to encounter with EoSD is it running at a billion FPS, but it's a simple fix, you just download the DirectX8 to DirectX9 converter and drop it in the game folder.
>>
>>34627681
I have the exact opposite opinion, I don't think bomb spamming is a good way to learn the game at all
I think IN is better because you can death bomb on reaction so you can just focus on trying to dodge things instead of just pressing x constantly

No, Misumaru, Nue, and Okina's abilities always cancel the bullets they touch. The hitboxes of the magatama may be small, so in practice they don't cancel that many, but they're 100% consistent.
