at some point, someone on youtube made a video called "ebola chan tribute" that featured a song i enjoyed and said song was even uploaded on youtube
but then the song's official video was gone, so the video about ebola chan was the only thing with the song left
years ago, that video disappeared too and i can't find the song anywhere
these are some details i still remember
>the song's name was probably "happy morning"
>there was some piano at the beginning
>name of the artist was something close to "tamara" or "tahara", i can't quite remember the name well
>it was some upbeat song too i guess and there was a cute girl singing
is anyone here at least aware of something close enough?
i still have it in my head and it's been years
it's driving me insane

God TAMTAM when they first started out were awesome. That sort of cosmic dub sound was really original and their live videos were always killer. Then they just dropped all of it and turned really, really shitty.

I don't frequent these threads but last time I was here maybe 4 months ago someone posted a really cool song I don't know the name I was hoping any of you would know what I'm talking about. It had a Tatsuro Yamashita vibe to it but it might have been a recent production? I dont remember much else other than the album cover having pastel blues and yellows, maybe a sketch of a sort and a year on it which I don't remember. Sorry if thats really vague but I'm just trying to find it

i guess shinsei kamattechan
a lot of people seem to not really like their output besides tsumanne, or at least starting with their 6th album, eiyuu syndrome.
unlike others i dont think its an issue with going major at all, going by noko's (the lead) streams warner music is incredibly hands off and he'd never change his style on instruction, which i think is part of the issue.
noko for the most part is an auteur to a fault so when he runs out of ideas and decides to stick to a formula, or to stick with subpar sound engineers/producers, the band's output suffers for it.

can someone help me figure out what song is constantly playing in my head?
https://onlinesequencer.net/1571658
i remember that it's like mid 2010s, japanese idol (singular) teen, song was called something like plastic planet, or planet plus, or something with a P alliteration. the girl went pretty ham on the dancing during the "e-a-b, e-a-b, e-a-b" part and she says something like "suki plus, suki plus, suki plus" while shooting a finger gun (the kind that utilizes the whole forearm)

What do you think?
>>
>>25132598
英雄Syndrome is one of their best I think, and 児童カレテ is also great. It's a bitter statement, but noko really seems to create his best during periods of strife, and as you know success hasn't fixed all of the problems he had when he first recorded music, nor has it changed his nature that produced such extreme music to begin with. つまんね is incredible from a musical standpoint, but it's also very hard to build on, so I've come to accept we won't ever get a true successor to it. For me, the spirit that went into those very early demos is still there now, and you can feel it in new tracks like 聖マリ even if they don't cut quite as deep. The feelings are still there, so it's enough for me.
>>
>>25140749
To be fair Seimari got a demo like 10 years ago, they only got around to recording it now.
He's still one of the best melody makers out there in my opinion, and I hope you're right about the strife thing since these last two years have been rough for him and we usually get a 2 - 3 year delay in songs he writes before he releases them. Apparently he's been practicing his piano skills during corona which might show results in the future. I just think someone else just needs to get into the creative process because in my opinion he's lost his ear for arranging songs in an interesting manner.

I kind of get what you mean about Machigaisagashi but listening to it I felt the lyrics fit Masaaki's voice better, if that makes sense. The album arrangement is a lot better though

Might be a cliche rec in general but Zazen Boys, especially live performances
for a lot of songs they have the same almost-but-not-quite-mathrock style tricot has, with one or two tricot songs sounding very similar to Zazen Boys (tricot's telekinesis and pork ginger, someone familiar with both tell me i'm not just imagining it)
they draw from a lot more genres and from japanese buddhist & rakugo themes so I'd recommend them in general if you want something alt

Both Zazen and Number Girl are still great live though, that hasn't changed

What's with Japanese people and picking band names that are short English words, do they not like being the first result when you try to find them on Google?
>>
>>24753735
is denpa allowed here?
>>
>>25785410
you can just add bando in katakana at the end and get the result
but I stumbled upon a band called "2", the other day, just the number, now THAT'S probably going to be hard to find just googling normally

>>25786420
yes but I thought there was a dedicated general for denpa on /jp/

Any Shibuya-kei recs?
More upbeat poppy stuff like CHAPPIE, Plus Tech Squeeze Box, Shinowa or Cecil.
Also is there still a Shibuya-kei scene nowadays or is it pretty much indistinguishable from Twee Pop or Chamber Pop stuff now?

At the start of the pandemic, Kyary Pamyu Pamyu posted a bunch of live videos to her YouTube channel. They’ve all been taken down now. I think they were from dvds or blurays. Where can I buy those online? Does she have a digital store for her western fans?

I wonder if the odd mixing in his videos is deliberate. They tend to sound worse than the LP versions, but a lot of what sounds off would be easy to fix, so I suppose he may prefer it that way. The rough version of 夕方のピアノ is great though
>>
>>25854398
They're all rough demos recorded by himself in his home studio so he probably just doesn't have the software, equipment, or know-how, but he probably also just likes it that way.
I think his entire music philosophy, if you want to call it that, is centered around the song's main melody; the recording and mixing is usually sloppy and comes second to the melody, which always comes through very clearly

I've known this band for 9 years. I realized Tsumanne/Minna shine will be 10 years old this year and had this thought creep into my head about how whether there's any new music now in 2020 that can resonate with hikkineet fuckups in the same way that those 2 albums did with me back then. I feel like the current zeitgeist isn't really conductive to that kind of music getting produced anymore. It's a very sincere sound that employed a classical form of irony (juxtaposing lyrical tone with major key composition) but currently it doesn't even register as irony to people because it's not comically exaggerated, detached, misanthropic self-mockery presenting itself as self-awareness. All that aside information and media dilution by sheer volume makes it functionally impossible to find any genuinely good underground stuff on streaming sites and share blogs are dead so how would I even find anything analogous to them anyway? haha

a lot of self-produced underground japanese artists are on soundcloud now, search through some tags and you're bound to find something analogous

they might not all be underground or recent, but Noko/the person who made all those songs said some of his main japanese influences are
>togawa jun
>kinniku shojo tai
>hirasawa susumu
>fishmans
>boredoms/yamatsuka ai
>kurahashi yoeko
>jagatara
so going through them might give you something musically similar

Spend a night at Japanese music club and you'll have whole bunch of promising bands no one in the West have never heard of. Basically, what makes its way into the West is more-or-less well-known in Japan - of course relatively - mainstream stuff is just know, for independent stuff it's well-known on relevant scenes. Yet Japanese music scene is full of vibrant bands exploring the darkest corners of music and beyond which will never make it past club scene and self-produced CD made on home CD-burner.

Their new album Nanka suru seinen is really good. I was initially afraid of that two disc set since it usually ends up feeling like over-long chore which would be better with some trimming but they really made it work. Their best release since GG reforming and finally an album that made me really feel like them coming back as BBHF was truly meaningful.
>>
>>26024443
They released a single earlier this year that I wasn't the biggest fan of, and their other releases including most of Galileo Galilei were hit and miss for me, so I was a bit apprehensive about the album but I agree, it turned out pretty good. Doesn't feel like a double album and goes by without overstaying its welcome.
I liked this track

Do you have any recommendations for noise pop from 2017-present? I did something similar at one point (looking up a lot of small supporting acts for shows) but couldn't find anything expect slightly quirky vanilla pop.

Not him but I recommend searching through shoegazing bands as well considering how tight-knitted the genres are. Maybe also some post-rock.

Anyone knows of any japanese music store that allows you to buy digital and DRM-free?
>>
>>26095317
quite a few but OTOTOY is really useful for that since they also take paypal which very few stores do
you can buy lossless and lossy files, and they're all DRM-free, once you download them the files are yours to do with as you please
they don't have everything though even if it is on spotify so temper your expectations

No idea. Was this recent? Doing a web search only brings back a minor happening from 2015 where Akane's private facebook account was mentioned, and people tried to be her friend on Facebook.

It was Akane's. I thought it was recent, but maybe I got it wrong.

Actually, I web searched too, and google says a reddit link is from 2015, but the page itself says Apr 25 this year.

I don't know if this counts as metal. I like heavy but no wailing and gnashing of teeth. So it's probably babymetal level.
