This is a random question, but what do you guys think is the most effective way of breaking through a language-learning plateau?

But for me trying to speak/type in Japanese has given me an intuitive understating of some things. I feel like once i have said something a few times and know the appropriate cases for its use i understand it far better if that makes any sense.

You could try to avoid your native language as much as possible and focus all of your free time on consuming things in your target language (including changing the system language on your phone/PC), as well as using your target language.At some point, the best tactic is probably to live abroad for a period of time. >>187572892登山具かなIn all honesty, it mostly just takes time and staying motivated. Watch a comedy series - that helps greatly in various ways. Read a novel, listen to podcast, play a game or do whatever else you find enjoyable. But do it in English. You don't always have to actively study to progress. Once you've reached a certain (intermediate) level learning can take on a much more organic form. It still helps to note down unfamiliar words you encounter along the way of course. Sorry to ask a stupid question, but am I correct in assuming that the following three sentences mean the same thing?>The robber tied her to the chair.>The robber tied her up to the chair.>The robber bound her to the chair.For your reference, I want to say 強盗は彼女を椅子に縛り付けた in English.

Its technically incorrect but its still used in some dialects. It might not be 100% correct but i feel saying "that is absolutely wrong" would also be inappropriate.

>>187580929If you are not specifically into Japanese history or historical novels or something related, you don't have to read most of proper nouns. They usually have furigana anyway. Most of Japanese people don't remember most of historical proper names either other than very famous persons like 徳川家康(とくがわいえやす, who started and founded Edo domination in 17C). The number of such exceptions is limited, so you'll learn them just like other normal nouns.
