Why is Indonesia considered a third world country if it looks the same like South Korea and Japan?
>>
>>120093835
Korea and Poland are second world.
>>
>>120094193
sure looks the same to me
>>
>>120094234
South Korea also has slums. Google 'slums South Korea'.
>>
>>120094394
only a minority over there live in extreme poverty while in Indonesia it might as well be more than 30%
>>
>>120094484
a developed country shouldn't have slums like that at all

South Korea and Japan are disappointing countries, they look way worse than their alleged wealth would indicate.
>>
the only country creating affordable corona testing kits, testing everyone, not panic buying, has masks, and not in country wide quarantine lockdown, so yeah.

>>120094759
they are first world because people don't die of starvation and treatable disease and almost everyone has tap water and electricity
>>
>>120094861
Why? I like my country. (But I also like Indonesia)
>>
>>120093835
Did a south korean fuck your bitch? I dont understand why an Indonesian would hate a korean since there is no historical contact
>>
>>120094759
It was a very poor country until the 70s it's normal that some parts of it look like shit
>>
>>120094959
I don't hate Korea, I like them. But I'm just wondering why it looks that bad despite having high GDP.

Because east asians don’t exactly have a great sense of aesthetics.
For people like us: functionality >>>>> beauty. Imagine how strong this idea was back then when they were poor.
>>
>>120095815
>Because east asians don’t exactly have a great sense of aesthetics.

Not exactly true, Singapore is beautiful and very well maintained.
>>
>>120093835
South Korea yes, Poland no
>>
i guessed the flag before i enter the thread
>>

why??
>>
>>120096143
>Not exactly true, Singapore is beautiful and very well maintained.
Hahaha. You have never been to Singapore then.
>>
>>120097488
I've seen it on google street view. They don't have overhead powerlines for example.
>>
>>120097522
>I've seen it on google street view
So not in real life. Okay.
>>
>>120097610
how would it be different if I saw it in real life? do you mean that google is lying and removed overhead powerlines from their photos?
>>
>>120097679
>how would it be different if I saw it in real life?
My guess is through google street view you only found the CBD neighborhoods. Go look up the residential areas where below middle class Singaporeans live. They are not so better than the pics you posted here, minus the lack of garbage.
>>
>>120097782
>Go look up the residential areas where below middle class Singaporeans live.

tell me the name of the area, I will see

btw, Seoul (and Tokyo) have overhead powerlines even in the downtowns with office skyscrapers
>>
>>120097679
Tip: Search around Ang Mo Kio. That town almost looks as if a slum in mainland China was shifted and relocated in Singapore.
>>
>>120097890
i don't think so...
>>
>>120098049
I checked like 20 random places in Ang Mo Kio and I swear I didn't find anything that looks bad. >>120098049 is actually one of the worst places I've found there, because other neighborhoods look like pic rel

not a single overhead powerline anywhere, no trace of bad maintenance, lack of order or anything
>>
>>120093835
Yes, obviously. They just have third world level business ethics.
>>
>>120093835
Dude you're right but why do you make 3 threads a week about it?
>>
>>120093835
debatable.
>>
>>120098049
I have lived in Singapore for 2 years. I think I’m the one who knows better about what Singapore actually looks like between you and me.
The more north you go in Singapore the shittier the areas look. You’re only viewing the two dimensional scenes through your computer which is one thing. And it’s another to see them in real life, feeling the environment with all of your senses.

Sure, overall they may look neat on the surface of your desktop. But if you have the opportunity to live there yourself long enough, you realize there’s something off with the whole city, something the city planners failed to take into account. A short answer to that is a lack of open space but it doesn’t end there. The atmosphere itself feels fake, static, and constrained. Every corner seems it is missing the touch of humanity.
There’s more about urban aesthetics than lack of overhead powerliens.

I've seen streets just like this in Tokyo (They were cleaner though, no cardboard boxes everywhere), every country, no matter how developed will have shitty areas.

>I have lived in Singapore for 2 years. I think I’m the one who knows better about what Singapore actually looks like between you and me.

I don't think so. First you tell me about some districts that are supposed to look bad, I give you photos and then you start explaining instead of giving me proofs. Show me a street on google street view that looks bad in your opinion and then we'll talk.

I don't understand what the difference between seeing a street on google street view and in reality is, if I don't want to rate the city's cuisine, climate or anything like that, just the level of maintenance and google street views are more than enough for that.

>The more north you go in Singapore the shittier the areas look.

Maybe it's true but what is 'shitty' by Singaporean standards is still much better than what is considered good in South Korea or Japan.

>The atmosphere itself feels fake, static, and constrained.

First world cities just feel fake, that's their inherent feature. It's the same with American suburbs for instance.

if you prefer 'living' and 'bustling' slums of Manila or favelas of Rio de Janeiro then it's your choice but let's not pretend these are 'first world'.

this chart doesnt prove anything, if youll take the US for example one of the richest countries in the world you would see that around %10 of the population lives in poverty
>>
>>120098873
This. Every country, no matter how undeveloped, will have nice areas.

How can US have higher income tax than communist nation like China and Vietnam?
Are they closet commies all along
>>
>>120099758
No, since those taxes are to pay for the freedom of the People of Israel, wich is their duty and legacy as defenders of freedom and democracy
