Genuinely, as an American I don't understand why this topic comes up a lot. Can someone explain? Is it a Euro politics thing? Like because the Spaniards are "lazy"? Spain tends to rate as safe in terms of violent crime rates as other Euro countries, generally better than France, and it is highly developed even if it is poorer than other Western European countries. All of the northern Europeans seem to buy investment properties there and houses to retire. So what is the deal?
