I like the idea of an all-powerful and all-loving God, but the God in the Bible wasn't very nice
God is more loving and patient than you can possibly imagine.Just read the story of Jonah. At the end of the story, Jonah actually becomes angry at God because of how merciful He was to the people of Nineveh. >And he prayed unto the Lord, and said, I pray thee, O Lord, was not this my saying, when I was yet in my country? Therefore I fled before unto Tarshish: for I knew that thou art a gracious God, and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repentest thee of the evil.Jonah 4:2God allows every chance for people to turn to Him. His patience goes on and on, and He will immediately embrace anyone who believes on Jesus Christ. He is a God who sent His only Son into the world, to die for sinful mankind, so that we might spend eternal life with Him if we'd believe.
>>15898929Not entirely right. You seem to have a pr*ttie, and thus heretical and wrong, view of things.
>>15898929Good thing that God did not need the sacrifice of Jesus to forgive the people of Nineveh.
>>15898929Read the story of Job. God enjoys torturing His most loyal devotees just for a laugh.
>>15898929>>15899011Its almost as though the Bible is written by different people.
>>15898982?>>15898998>Good thing that God did not need the sacrifice of Jesus to forgive the people of Nineveh.Yes He did. The people of the past looked forward to Christ, and we look back. That's why they engaged in lamb sacrifices since the dawn of time (Cain and Abel), because the blood of the lamb represents Christ. "For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us" (1 Corinthians 5:7).That's why God was displeased with Cain's sacrifice, because Cain tried to offer his own works (vegetables from the field), rather than relying on the blood of the Lamb (representing faith in Jesus Christ). And that's why Abraham told his son that the Lord would provide a lamb for the sacrifice. And that's why a lamb was required for passover. Etc.>>15899011>Read the story of JobGod knew that Job would persevere through the torments of the devil, and afterwards God blessed Job abundantly. In fact, Job was twice as blessed after his sufferings than before.
We love him, because he first loved us.1 John 4:19But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.Romans 5:8For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.John 3:16
>>15899037I thought it was the infallible Word of God? What do you mean?>>15899039>God knew that Job would persevere through the torments of the devil, and afterwards God blessed Job abundantly. In fact, Job was twice as blessed after his sufferings than before. So it's okay to torture and abuse someone who's loyal to you and loves you if you're nice and buy them some candy afterward to make up for it. Okay, I'll remember that lesson.
>>15899051>So it's okay to torture and abuse someone who's loyal to you and loves you if you're nice and buy them some candy afterward to make up for it. Okay, I'll remember that lesson.YedThat is why good Christians rape their daughters dailyTo test their faith
>>15899051>So it's okay to torture and abuse someone who's loyal to you and loves you if you're nice and buy them some candy afterward to make up for it.No. And that's not what happened with Job.
>>15899039>God knew that Job would persevere through the torments of the devil, and afterwards God blessed Job abundantly. In fact, Job was twice as blessed after his sufferings than before.God allowed Satan to slaughter his entire fucking family.>b-but Job got rewardedHis family was still mercilessly slaughtered and tortured with God's permission
>>15899064Okay, explain what happened then. Please note that I've actually read the story multiple times so your pilpul will have limited effect.
>>15899085God hurts you because he loves youThe worse your life is the more he loves youSo if you were not raped as a kid God loves you less than me :)
>>15899102How touching and special, kek.
>>15899141it's not that special
>>15899039Yet God claims in the old testament that the Levites are supposed to do the sacrifices until the end of times. In the prophecy of Daniel the archangel Gabriel tells him someone evil will stop the daily sacrifices and install that "horrible thing" that causes destruction. So the daily sacrifices were never supposed to be stopped, Christians claim they are no longer necessary, it has no basis in the holy torah.
>>15900687>In the prophecy of Daniel the archangel Gabriel tells him someone evil will stop the daily sacrifices and install that "horrible thing" that causes destruction.Yes, the "horrible thing" is better referred to as the abomination of desolation – which was fulfilled with the bringing in of pagan idols and looting caused by the Romans after the Siege of Jerusalem. Read Matthew 24 and you'll find further prophecies by Jesus Christ. This caused God to depart from the Temple – which is why its the "abomination that maketh desolate" (desolate because God's presence has departed from Jerusalem, preventing sacrifices from taking place). But the abomination of desolation in 70AD was only the first fulfilment of the prophecy (Biblical prophecies are usually dual or triple fulfilment, which means that a lesser fulfilment comes before a later full fulfilment) – the full fulfilment will take place during the end times. Sacrifices to a false god will resume as a result of the antichrist, most likely.
