Felt like a 3rd person shooter campaign. And story had retarded shit: like the German pilot chimping out, and the finale scene with guy running in front of the assault wave instead of running along OR BEHIND the trench. Plus, the assault was charging a fortified position without any artillery support.

I instantly reacted on the running over the trench. It went against all logic and obviously made for the cool shot.
I dont care how much in a hurry he was. Any sane man would have continued to elbow his way through the trench.

And yeah, artillery was THE weapon in ww1. You didnt do anything without artillery.

I usually recommend this movie. A really great procedural drama about the planning of the Holocaust during the Wannsee Conference. The movie is just bureaucrats having a meeting in one room, but it’s done really well and highlights the horror of the Holocaust in a very intelligent way. You see all these guys from different departments being told by the SS that the SS is now the boss of all of them in this new plan to “””””facilitate””””” the Jews of Europe. You get to see the uncomfortable squirming and how the SS not to subtly threatens those who are being too squeamish to go along with the plan.

It does a great job of criticizing Nazi Germany more so than most gory or graphic war films (none of this is in the movie) How it was a bunch of brute thugs in Hugo Boss uniforms LARPing as respectable statesmen while they plan out a genocide

Historical fiction, but I love this movie. I know a lot of people think it’s boring, but if you give it a try the weird hypnotic way the movie is filmed and the characters interact with each other starts to work out really well and you enjoy a really good story of some Irish peasant as he becomes a sigma male grindset to rise up the ranks of Georgian Britain. Also great soundtrack

All Quiet on the Western Front (2022) was a shitty adaption of the book. It skipped over segments like Bootcamp and the drill sergeant and Paul's death (which LITERALLY GIVES THE BOOK ITS NAME) was changed into an ahistorical Marvel Tier Action Scene.
Germans literally made an inferior movie about their own literature compared to a Hollywood adaption from 1930.

There's really no jews within the story, its about Belarussians and reprisal attacks. There's a fiery finale sequence, but it's perpetrated by a Byelorussian-recruited Nazi battalion (and there is some stylization after Dirlewanger). There's some gore and fucked up shit, but it fits the brutality of how deadly it was being stuck between Hitler and Stalin in the 30/40s. There's nothing like gas chambers or lolocausters.
Its also interesting that this was the final movie by this director. His wife had also been a director but died early. Her final film (The Ascent) had the same topic: Belarussian-partisans.

For the 90s, that's basically perfect editing for what he was going for.

My issue with Alexander is its an epic biopic with grand sets and amazing shots that are sliced up into rapid editing ripped from a Michael Bay movie, but less competent.

Set design and cinematography were top of their game, but you get less than a second to appreciate any of it before some random Bollywood cutting. They needed Terrance malicks editor for this.

Life is Beautiful is actually entertaining to watch, Schindler's List is just exceedingly pretentious.

>b-but Holocaust movies aren't supposed to be entertaining!

We call it the "entertainment industry" for a reason

Moreover, Schindler's List isn't even the most depressing the Holocaust movie ever made. Son of Saul and The Grey Zone are vastly more disturbing films, The Day the Clown Cried is so disturbing that it was never actually completed and the lone incomplete copy will only be screened next year.
>>
>>15097895

The funniest thing about that scene is that the tank battle actually occurs at such close range that even the unmodified 75mm gun on a standard Sherman would have been able to penetrate a Tiger I's frontal armor with relative ease. Even if it didn't, spalling is a thing and was a major cause of fatalities among Tiger crews.

This movie is kinda slow and doesn't have a single "le epic" scene, nothing spectacular. But the intrigue, the growing sentiment of frustration it instills and strikes you hard at the end, on top of Mads performance made it one of my favs.

It's still bad then.
The action scenes are corny and too Hollywood-esque.
The commanding general character is a caricature, but not a very good one. His actions are completely unrealistic at that time, the film completely ignores the actual REAL state of the German Army in November '18 and how such a suicidal attack order would have been met with a literal mutiny. The German army was disintegrating like cotton candy dissolving in water, there simply was no such last second charge by the Germans because they were the ones being attacked and chased by the relentless advancing Entente forces, or they were simply deserting en masse.
Also, if you're going to use the fucking title of the book then at least try to keep the scene which the title is based on ffs. "All Quiet on the Western Front, just kidding it's actually a very loud freak occurrence attack on the Western Front!"
