ITT: We make up interesting but untrue history facts. I'll start.During the late 1970s, the French military deployed nuclear weapons on at least three occasions against rebel groups based in their South Pacific possessions. Officially, these detonations were "tests" but the actual purpose was to completely annihilate areas that the French state had become unable to control due to increasing separatist activities. After the fact, relevant documents were changed by colonial authorities to show that the areas in question had always been uninhabited, and later on, the areas were declared nature reserves in order to prevent subsequent investigation of the scenes. Every so often, somebody will find a shipping manifest or photograph showing that the islands were once inhabited, and the French will have to aggressively DEBOONK or threaten the individual or institution in question.

The Basque languages show a remarkable grammatical similarity to Khoisan languages found in the African cape. It is believed that the Basque may be descended from the previous "out of Africa" wave that left Africa 200,000 years ago, rather than more recent migrations.
