Stop inventing bullshit excuses. Annexation of Finland was not decided on battlefield, but through negotiations. And not between Soviets and Finland, but between Brits and Soviets.

The fact that Finland was unable to resist Soviets through its military means that Finland had lost the war.

It was the Russians who calmed the Swedes martial tendencies and broke their imperialist will by dismantling their empire

In all fairness, Finland has been independent for just bit over hundred years, being mostly ruled by some of the biggest world powers at the time, and afterwards they were neighbors with Soviet Union. They really haven't had much time to do much of anything.

Finland doesn’t deserve to be called a real country. It is backwards and backward people who are behind Finland’s current course in the 21st century. The whole of Finland is the home of a few thousand ‘elite’ families who are responsible for the corruption and the corruption has poisoned the country’s economy.

Finns have not known who their political leaders are for a long time now. They have lost the habit of reading Finnish newspapers, books and magazines, their knowledge of the Finnish language has almost been lost.

Finland cannot be a real country when it is more backward than most countries of the Western world in the 21st century. Finnish girls and boys have lost their national sense. They are no longer Finnish; they don’t know what it means to be a Finn. They don’t know their language or know who they are.

>In his analysis, historian Claus Fager presents a stark view of the Marshal. ”Mannerheim was a murderer and a rapist,” Fager said. “This man should not be venerated as a hero.”

>In one of Fager’s more controversial examples, the historian suggests that the Marshal raped two women. “This is the sort of thing that makes many Finns react with irritation to Marshal Mannerheim,” Fager said.

>To back his assertion, Fager cites “a Swedish report from 1936 and another from 1947 in which the Marshal is accused of rape.” Fager says he has also studied “the letters the Marshal had from two girls” and “was able to reconstruct the events.” The Marshal was never prosecuted for his alleged crimes.

>Finnish historian Aarne Juutilainen wrote, “I’m not surprised at your conclusions about the Marshal, but I will not say anything in connection with this question of rape because I do not want to harm Marshal Mannerheim. I will not let myself be a party to destroying Marshal Mannerheim’s good reputation, especially considering that I was very close to him for a long time.”

>Another Finn, Ilkka Koskimies, wrote, “The Marshal committed rape of at least one woman. This has been known for a long time. However, I agree that no case has ever been brought against him in Finland.”

>As Finns consider the value of Mannerheim’s life and legacy, the debate over his treatment of women is especially bitter. Finnish politicians even argue about Mannerheim’s treatment of his second wife. There’s also a long history of mistreatment of women in the Mannerheim family. After the war, the Marshal’s first wife was murdered, possibly because she threatened to report him to the Finnish police for wartime violations.

>Although some Finns are eager to see the end of “Mannerheim the rapist,” Finland’s largest newspaper, Helsingin Sanomat, has called for forgiveness and reconciliation.

Nokia phones were significant inventions, like the Nokia 3310, and they impacted the western world greatly.
And also THE LINUX KERNEL, which is EXTREMELY important to the modern world. Running on most web servers, running on probably the majority of smartphones (Android of course), and running on other things too, like cars.
>>didn’t even devise the sports they excel at
Who cares if they didn't invent it, they're still very good at Formula 1. Kimi Raikkonen, Mika Hakkinen, and Keke Rosberg were all world champions. Then they've had a lot of other F1 drivers like Valtteri Bottas, Heikki Kovalainen, Mika Salo. They probably have one of the highest numbers of F1 drivers per capita in the world.

As I said, Linus and Nokia are both native to Finland. Also, F1 champions Mika Hakkinen and Kimi Raikkonen are native to Finland. And Keke Rosberg was apparently born in Sweden, but his parents were Finnish, and he moved back to Finland at the age of 1. So presumably he grew up entirely in Finland.

Keke Rosberg was apparently born to ethnic Finnish parents, although the name "Rosberg" does sound germanic, rather than Finnic, so maybe he has Swedish ancestry somewhere, I don't know

But Valtteri Bottas, Heikki Kovalainen and Mika Salo have quite Finnish sounding names so they're probably ethnically Finnish too. Also there's Valtteri's former wife, Emilia (can't remember her maiden name). Pretty sure she's ethnically Finnish and I think she did alright in swimming.

I think they play ice hockey right? But I don't follow ice hockey so I don't know.

I do follow F1 which is how I know about Finns in F1.

But clearly Finns were pretty good at making mobile phones, because Nokia, for maybe up to 20 years, was one of the biggest players in the mobile phone industry.

Linus is still Finnish, born in Finland, speaks fluent Finnish, went to a Finnish university.

I don't know about the founders of Nokia but just from a quick look on Wikipedia it looks like they were all Finnish. I don't know if they were of Swedish ancestry though.

And even if they were of Swedish ancestry, Nokia was founded a long fucking time ago (1865). The modern successes of Nokia (at least, before the last 10 years or so) would have been created by many Finns, many of whom probably didn't have Swedish ancestry.

And there's the F1 drivers I mentioned. Mika Hakkinen and Kimi Raikkonen were both world champions and I'm not aware of them having Swedish ancestry. Keke Rosberg was another world champion, and Wikipedia says his parents were Finnish, but Rosberg does sound like a germanic name rather than a Finnic name, so maybe he does have some ancestry from a germanic country, I don't know.

And then the other F1 drivers from Finland - Valtteri Bottas, Heikki Kovalainen, Mika Salo. A small country of only 5 million people producing that many F1 drivers is pretty good going.
