Why aren't you a Christian /his/?
Because the trinity is a lie
Because I don’t believe a preacher born in a Roman province was actually the son of a god. I think that story is fiction, even if the person was real.
Because I dont know where to begin. Christ is calling to me but I dont know how to find him.
>>10241929Read the Bible
>>10241939Will I be able to understand it? Dont most people grow up as Christians and get it taught to them?
don't want to kiss nigger feet
because I read the bible and realized it was bullshit.
>>10241909I have lots of reasons, but the biggest one is that Jesus expected the end of the world to come in his life time, and obviously that didn't happen.
>>10241948It’s literally just a myth anon, the language is only complicated in the sense that many translations are in an older type of English
>>10241909I can only accept some teachings, not all.
>>10241958This. It all falls apart when you realize Jesus was wrong. If he was wrong, he wasn't divine. If he wasn't divine, the whole religion is a farce.
>>10241909>>10241909Would love to be, but it's never really struck a cord with me. I bought the Jefferson Bible, hoping to cut through the clutter, but haven't read it yet
>>10241978If he wasnt divine that doesnt mean there isnt value in what he said.
>>10241993I never denied that the Bible, and the teachings of Christ contain wisdom. They contain much of it. But we live in a naturalistic universe.
>>10241958It was the end of the (pre-Rabbinical) Jewish society and their own little worldview, that's for sure. He was kind of right, in that regard. Basically, if some fearmonger preach the end of the world in panic, when in reality it's the end of the Western world in particular that's only ending.
>>10242000This is a cope. The Day of the Lord never came
>>10242009No, I don't believe in that, at least not literally. I'm just saying that it's a religion of apocalypse, meaning that the religion has good sense in knowing a decline in society and all that, and provide some alternatives at the very least (even if misguided).
>>10241958>Jesus expected the end of the world to come in his life time, and obviously that didn't happen. No he didn't.
>>10242052He was extreme clear about his apostles being alive in time of the apocalypse, and there can be doubt this is what he meant (the wording is very clear anyway) because that's how his apostles took it. When you read the Pauline letters he regularly discusses how the "form of the world is fading" and the end is "near" and "coming soon". He reminds the Christians to stay steadfast because the Lord will come like a thief in a night, you will not expect him so always be ready. It will happen any day now. By the time we get to 2 Peter we have entered the great copening about how the Lord has not forgotten his promise, and how "a thousand years is a day and a day a thousand years." All the apostles have died, and someone pretending to be the apostle Peter has created an apology for the failed apocalypse. Otherwise we have things like "full preternism" and "realized eschatology" which are just bullshit , one being heresy and the other being apology. Being a Christian past the 1st century is to be engaged in a continual exercise of self-delusion.
I do consider myself a Christian, but lately...I don't know. I have yet to see an actual good answer for the problem of evil and I also don't think you could ever justify hell. I've been asking a lot of questions and all I've been getting is dismissal and a lot of vitriol
it's the biggest (((trick))) of them all

>>10242074>He was extreme clear about his apostles being alive in time of the apocalypseNo he wasn't. >because that's how his apostles took itProve this.>When you read the Pauline letters he regularly discusses how the "form of the world is fading" and the end is "near" and "coming soon". He reminds the Christians to stay steadfast because the Lord will come like a thief in a night, you will not expect him so always be ready. It will happen any day now.You can easily interpret what Paul says in a way that does not mean even in a century or twenty will the Lord come. From Jesus' death to the coming of the kingdom of God would be much closer compared to before his death, and it was said that no one but the Father knows the day or the hour, it could come in a year or a week or ten thousand years.
>>10242259I imagined some little new yorker jewish rat telling me this and I started laughing, gas yourself you repulsive subhuman

>>10242275Yeah, no one knows the day or hour, but Jesus said things like, before this generation passes away, and before some of you standing here today taste death.
>>10241909because of the contradictions that lie in the Bible (numerical and story telling). With the fact that there are hundreds of them, it makes it generally unconvincing when you ask yourself "Why would God let his holy word get tainted and filled with contradiction?"also, the Gospels were written anonymously. not only do they contradict each other as well, but we have no idea if they were written by who they were claimed to be written by.here is a famous contradiction from the new testament: Jesus was supposed to be in the tomb for three days and three nights. He went into the tomb on friday to sunday (during the day, on sunday). that is clearly not three nights.if anyone could provide rebuttals i'd be happy to listen and learn :)
>>10242317That is correct. I AM what I want to be. Fuck all theists.YHWH Allah(LORD God)

Lmao, does this really need an explanation?

>>10241909iq too high
>>10242418my response was this>Cornelius TacitusHe was born decades after Jesus death>Gaius Suetonius Tranquilluborn 69 AD>Thallus"The works are considered important by some Christians as confirming the historicity of Jesus and providing non-Christian validation of the Gospel accounts: a reference by Thallus to an eclipse has been taken since antiquity as referring to the darkness described in the Synoptic gospels at the death of Jesus, although it was has been argued that an eclipse could not have taken place during Passover, when the crucifixion happened. A common view in modern liberal scholarship is that the Crucifixion darkness is a literary creation rather than a historical event.">Pliny the Youngerborn 61 AD>Celsus2nd-century Greek philosopher>Lucian of Samosataborn 125 AD>Mara Bar-Serapionwhos work came after 73 AD but before the third century>Flavius Josephusborn 37 AD so again after Jesus>Clement of Romeoh wow the Pope says Jesus is real great historical evidence there>Ignatius of AntiochA guy who converted to Christianity at a young age, yeah another great source there>Quadratus of Athenswas born late first century and is is said to have been the first of the Christian apologists. A real winner here for a historical source>Aristides the Atheniananother Christian who works were done a century after Jesus death and we have little information about>Hegesippusanother member of the faith who wrote in the time of Pope Eleuterus (Bishop of Rome, c. 174–189). so again not a great source
>>10242396>No, it's about the verse directly before it.No, Christ is foreshadowing the transfiguration which literally happening right after this.
>>10242409You don't know because you're only a Sub-creature of the Creator.Johnny B and Jeebus C wrote the entire New Testament retard.O IBLIS ofthe JINN,Shaitan
>>10242459Another common apology >Rationalization #1: Matthew 16:28 refers to Jesus’ transfiguration, not his second coming.>The transfiguration of Jesus is a story recorded in Matthew 17, Mark 9, and Luke 9. The first problem is that these Gospels place the transfiguration at different times. In Matthew, it occurs after Jesus made the prediction about his second coming. That might make it seem reasonable to think that it was a fulfillment of the earlier prediction. However, Mark and Luke place the transfiguration event before Jesus made spoke the prophecy. Laying aside the obvious discrepency in timing, we can say for certain that an event occurring before a prediction is made can’t be fulfilling the prediction. The “prediction” wouldn’t be a prediction at all.>The preceding verse (verse 27) starts off the description of Jesus’ coming by saying he would come “in glory” with angels to dole out judgment to “every man”. That is not what happened in the transfiguration stories. Therefore, the explanation doesn’t work. Some try to make it work by separating verse 28 from the preceding verse so that the two verses talk about different “comings”. This is a baseless tinkering with the passage in order to make a doctrine fit the scripture. The same Christians who do this will accuse other of taking verses out of context when they disagree with an interpretation. Yet, this is exactly what they do here.
