Stupid questions thread / Questions that don't deserve their own thread

I'm trying to blur the eyes/nose on a movie in after effects. Tracked motion, applied to null object, using tracking info to drive an adjustment layer on top of eyes/nose. Due to lighting and movement, tracked movement is not precise enough, so I'm tweaking the shape and position to follow the face's perspective/position changes. I've activated keyframes on Mask Path, Mask Opacity (for when blur is not needed) and Position, see pic related.
I'm scrolling trough the video and adapting the mask's shape/position as needed, 30 seconds of footage in, I preview my work and to my surprise the mask has changed shape from what I originally set it as, and basically all my work carefully shaping the mask to the subjects face is gone. It's close to what I shaped it, but different enough to fuck me up. What am I doing wrong? What else do I need to keyframe so I actively lock the masks shape/size as desired?

tl;dr how do I lock an adjustment layer's mask's shape/size per keyframe?

I think your problem is keyframing the position instead of just the path (you can move the whole mask at once, just alt click the mask point with a square around).

not entirely sure what you mean by this but maybe changing the keyframes to HOLD keyframes (select the keyframes and Ctrl+Alt+Click on them), that way they won't animate in-between and just change to the new position at the keyframe

Thanks fren, by adding a keyframe to the scale my issue was solved but I'm sure your tip will come in handy. Censoring is fun! I'm amazed with the program, and I've barely scratched the surface.

Get a nice texture (you can easily torrent the Ezra Cohen ones)
Create an Ae comp with your footage and the texture
Duplicate the texture
On one texture layer, apply curves/levels and pump up that contrast. Hide the layer and rename it as map or something
Apply a displacement map to your footage and set the layered you just named map as the map.
Put the untouched texture on top of everything and change it's blending mode to Add. If the effect is too much, lower it's opacity

Forget about your old photo-manipulation stuff, just create a new piece for your portfolio every day. Whatever. Have a friend with a band? Make a show poster for him (even if there's no show).
A month from now you will have 30 pieces, 5 of them should be decent enough.

Got an affinity designer question
I just recently got a graphics tablet and have been mucking around, i have never drawn on a PC before so its all a bit new. I am trying to figure out the best way to do shapes like pic related. I know its cringe, but its the best example on google I could find of the kinds of shapes, strokes with sharp edges and varying thickness.

So currently, I have been using the brush and I can get the look I want in most cases, but I would like to have it actually be a vector shape, than just a single stroke. So the only solution I have found at the moment is to do the stroke I want with th ebrush, then use the pen to go over the outlines. Am I crazy or must there be a simpler way to turn a brush stroke into a shape? OR like, brush wit ha shape?
Maybe I'm just not used to it but the pen feels clunky, I want to be able to draw my shapes, basically, is that a thing I can do with affinity designer?

Things you're good at. Things you have experience doing. Things that were successful. A resume is your shot to show off what you can do. If you just copy someone else's work, then it's meaningless. That's why student work from a gd design graduate is better than the xeroxing that goes on here, by try hards and pajeets who think they can cheat their way in.

Best advice:
10-12 pieces.
Simple write up to explain the work, and it's success, if any. If it's student work, then detail what your goal was.
Be able to tailor your book to a specific job - designers have always done that. I can throw a pretty quick book of photo editing together, or a page layout one, or an illustration book, depending on what jobs I'm chasing. Back in the day, designers would have physical portfolios that used 3 ring binders, so they could swap work in and out, for updating or tailored for a specific job. Now, just generate PDFs for each application.
For everything else, set up a simple website.

Just use your head. If you apply for a job in an ad agency as a junior designer, they're not really going to care about glitch graphics or Blender renders. They want to see you can work on anything you get assigned, and have at least working knowledge of the basics - page layout, image editing, and vector elements.

And, don't be an ass. Don't put metal album covers in for a corporate gig.

I've been using Photoshop for years, and I don't know of a single way PS upscales an image on import, or dragging into the layer from the desktop. The only way an image is upscaled is if you do it intentionally.

Now, considering this is 4chan full of people in any other context would have people saying "No WAY someone could be that fucking stupid", I'll assume your dumb ass is dragging a low res image (473x700 is low res) into a high res documents, and scaling the image using the bounding box handles before hitting return, because your chimp brain thinks PS is magic, or you're so dumb you just click on things randomly with no clue what anything is supposed to do.

To be clear here, - a 473x700 image is either going to be really small on a 2000x1500 page (especially if the smaller image is 72 dpi because you took it off the web, and you used the default page PS makes for you at 300 dpi). It will never upscale into anything but blurry.

Do you even know what DPI means? I have to assume you don't here.

TL;DR Read the fucking manual, and get high res images to work with, for fuck's sake.
