What are you working on /gd/ ?
please leave this gamecube 2000's look in past. I'm so tired of it lol
>>398770clearly reads "1997"
>>398770Oh, I'm sorry. You do prefer the bootstrap bloat anon?
why does web design (development especially) suck so much
This shit is driving me crazy. A long time ago I recall seeing a simple page criticizing modern web design and explaining the advantages of simple html pages. It was in a humorous tone, and there were a couple of parodies of it (in good spirit).I can't find it for the life of me. I only get stupid "how to web design for dummies" "16 web design ideas" and other such stupid results. Can anybody link me to this page or tell me the its name?
>>399030Thanks jesus, yahweh, buddha, osiris and whoever god there might be I found it.http://motherfuckingwebsite.com/
>>399031Also there is this onehttp://bettermotherfuckingwebsite.com/
>>399031>http://motherfuckingwebsite.com/lmao nice content.txti is based.
>>399031funny but retarded
>>399030>>399031Speaking of criticizing modern websiteshttps://www.dagusa.com/
>>399031It's pretty close to mine.https://munashe.xyz/
>>399081could you tell me whats going on in your pastebin things? im totally a newfag to these codes but like your site
My page looks a little empty. I only need to display two options like in pic related, but how and what would you fill it out with?
>>399109Use a neutral background image and center the content both vertically and horizontally?
What do you use Figma, Sketch or Adobe XD?
>>399232Piece of paper and Atom.
>>398982Bloat, simple html/css suffice in most cases.
>>398765Where can I start to learn to make designs like that
>>399328Developers are completely blind when it comes to giving their projects a face, even with simple CSS. It's almost like they're trying to self-sabotage.
>>399521yes, nowadays it's just apps instead of websites.
I need some help from someone who is working with worldpress. How the fuck do I remove the bottom of the site. I installed a new theme and at the footer it's empty
i think i might start another e-commerce site in a couple months. what are some simple, black themed shops out there?
I am making a 4chan clone how do I improve the design?
this is a mockup I made
this is a mockup I made of the inside of a thread. I decided to remove the face from each postbtw I kind of stole the design from dribbble haha
>>399852btw this is what it currently looks like right now. I removed the "back to catalog, edit, report" buttons under the title of each post. I think I'll add "back to catalog" backbtw I zoomed out in this image so you can see the bottom too. There is a section that says "Join the discussion"
this is what the modal looks like. It's off to the side but on mobile view takes up the entire width and most of the height. The captcha is in dark mode (for now) and I will probably undo that. There is also an activated dropdown that with "hide" and "report" options
this is what happens when you click on report. It opens a report modal that allows you to write the reason why the post should be removed
this is the discover page that shows all boards. Each board will have special properties to them including a cover image. I am thinking of adding more things to each board... things like a custom icon and a custom banner for each card
this is something I made a long time ago but still kind of like. Should I go in this direction instead?
this is another idea I was playing around with... should I continue down this path?
this was my first attempt I made around a year ago... it has been so long and I haven't gotten anywhere design wise... If only I could figure this out...
I've goy a few pictures like this and I need to cut out the background for a web store.I've tried paths and the magic wand in photoshop and none look too good. What are my options?
>>399892you should use photoshop or gimp to turn them it into a png
>>399912I'm using photoshop ATM but I'm having trouble outlining the cable
>>399857the background feel too heavy to watch, i prefer the solid color
I'm working on my portfolio website right now!Any feedback would be great!https://davidziemek.wixsite.com/david-ziemek
>>399956with a portfolio you should show and not tell. When I first landed I didn't know what to do... then once I realized I was supposed to click on the icons I said to myself "wow, this is going to take a really long time, isn't it?" But after I clicked on the items I found that there wasn't much being shown other than a wall of text and a form... The other two icons didn't take me anywhere.in your about section under the canvas icon you mentioned you've done traditional and all sorts of art and design since you remember. I would suggest taking all of the work you've done and putting in on the landing page of the website. With web design it is really important to minimize the effort required by the user to consume information. If you hide everything behind icons that I have to click I will more likely just close the tab and do something else. Keep it simple and put everything on a single page. If you have so a lot of work to show then put the best works on the landing page and put the rest on a different page. With each project describe what it is and the design process behind it.I would also suggest using https://webflow.com/ to make your website instead of wordpress. It lets you do more radical designs easier and lets you focus on the design.I would also suggest creating an account on dribbble.com, browsing other portfolios, and studying them.
>>399994this but if anon knows web-design he should try to code it instead on using Webflow
>>400085>thisredditor detected >:^(
>>400085Hmmm... if you want to show of your ability to create websites that is fine. I would say make it first on Webflow, Figma, or any design tool then mimic it in html, css, jsIf I had to guess, I would say that anon's lack of ability in web development is severely limiting his design progress. It's almost as if he's designing while coding. Don't do that. Start with a design then implement it in code.
>>398982html/css/js suck because of legacy bullshit and lack of clear direction when they when they were created. Web devs "solved" this by building "tools" that added extra layers of abstraction to help "simplify" things, but these tools sucked so people abstracted the tools and/or made their own and now we have thousands of shitty tools, frameworks, processors, etc...The fact that JS became the defacto language for web dev is horrifying.
does that say PUBLIC VOID 卐NET
1. What do I read to understand how to design a good website? Color palette, usability, etc.2. What tools do I use to create a design? Photoshop, XD?I am a programmer and I want to create a really nice design before I start working on my project. I have some experience with Photoshop. Please recommend me a few articles or books specifically about web design.
>>398770Yeah I too like how sterile and dull websites are now...
How do i make a html5 video player? I know how to make one but how to style it and design the buttons? Im maybe autistic as fuck but all the youtube tutorials are garbage. I dont fucking need garbage flat globohomo soulless buttons. So which software is good if i want to make a custom html5 video player with custom layout and shiny old buttons like pic related>inb4 make it in flash
>>400309>html5 video playerhttps://videojs.com
>>400283I actually prefer it, it's clean. You can have a website with a ton of customization in the UI and layout, but a lot of times there's a ton of bloat, it loads slowly, and it doesn't render well on mobile. A complex layout done well can be great, but you need HTML & CSS knowledge, a WYSIWYG editor will probably not give you anything useful. And I like the simple, minimalist trends that Squarespace has been helping to promote, but I feel the cost might be hard to justify for some people when most social media is free.
