I got a 64 GB Steam Deck for my niece and put a 1 TB SSD in it. She loves it since it plays basically everything she wants to play. Fucking over Microsoft a little is a nice bonus.Now whenever we meet she's very excited to see her uncle. I usually have a game or two prepared and like teaching her how to do various things.Last time she was over we put on a skin to protect it (she wanted something kinda turquoise since it's her favorite color) and after getting pirated Switch games to work pretty much flawlessly we played Mario Kart and Zelda until bedtime.

Nothing that was at all difficult to correct, thankfully, but she did find out that actions can have consequences. I can say that the interface in game mode is very easy to use, even for a child as long as they have a bit of understanding.She's learning more and more each day and knows to contact me now. I feel a responsibility as her uncle to properly educate her about technology. We'll see how things go once I let her use the desktop mode by herself as I can see it leading to some issues.
How well can these things play GTA5? I don't care about multiplayer and stuff, I just want to play modded single player without crashes/poor performance. Ideally 2 hours of battery would be nice too.
