In open source software communities, commies support it because-you guessed it-they like free shit. Libertarians support it because the love the FREEDOM to write their own and use the software that others have made free of charge for production purposes and/or fun. I see this as a win for both, but as time goes on, things need to be fixed and people need an incentive to continue maintaining things. Communists won't be willing to contribute to anything (as expected of them) but libertarians always will be, however they won't continue development without compensation. That's where corporate sponsorship big and small start to have a hand in open source. Communists hate this because their favorite free goodies will likely have paywalls or some other form of monetization in the future. Libertarians like this because they get paid to do what they love the most. Where it gets bad for both is when companies take ownership of the project entirely, change the licensing, and use it for purposes that are antithetical to its original purpose.
