I have it, I really don't know what I was expecting from the phone. It has nothing really relevant, nothing to distinguish it if you don't use a WIN system to complement it. It works just like any other android phone, it just comes with Thinkphone branding stuck to the back and you have some logic controls from microphone and camera use for applications.

Curious really. Thinkpad was defined during its golden age as part of IBM by being highly customizable, maintainable and upgradeable systems, very much in resonance with the GNU spirit giving the user as much control and durability as possible, but today in 2023, the brand is following the same market trend as all its competitors.

By the way the transparent casing it comes with is extremely flimsy. I haven't done a month with the phone and that embeddable protection is all cracked.

I have a -2500 google pay balance from someone (im guessing a fraudulent scammer) sending me money then charging it back, this happened in 2019 and I forgot about it because I was either using samsung pay or apple pay and google didn't bother me about it, I was able to still buy things using my google account. Should I be worried about it?

It seems strange to me that it took them this long to try it. I feel like it would've made sense when Windows Phones were still a thing. I watched some videos about it, and the most unique thing seemed to be interactivity with Windows, but use cases seem pretty limited. It also seems to stuck in a no-mans-land where it's not good enough to be a flagship, but costs too much to be a value phone.

Xiaomi's MIUI severely limits background processing of pretty much every app. If you like delayed notifications and malfunctioning apps, be my guest and buy one. Many app FAQs will attest to this, and tell you to add exceptions which doesn't always work.

It's basically iOS.

this is out of topic, that's not why it has better battery life obviously, you're comparing the pixel's shitxynos with an sd8g2 which does not only have twice the performance but way better efficiency too.
>>
>>93685623
Xiaomi has better battery than phones with identical or nearly identical hardware. They do it by decimating background tasks, delaying notifications and often outright breaking software like Termux. If you want that, go for it, but don't act like it is for everyone.

There was news кecently that during the current "crisis" Chinese manufacturers are reducing the number of types of screens for smartphones, so, except for 6.7, there simply will not be other options.

In any case, compact smartphones are not needed. There is no demand for them, no one buys them. I only hear the cries of autistic people about compact smartphones, but I never see anyone who would buy compact smartphones.

All normal brands.

Nobody buys compacts. Never. Nowhere. Everyone is whining about them, but no one is buying.
Apple suffered losses with to 12-13 mini, which is almost impossible to do with their margin of 300+ bucks per device.
https://www.cnet.com/google-amp/news/after-iphone-13-its-not-looking-good-for-apple-iphone-mini/

You will find sales of iPhones by models yourself. PROMAX PROMAX PROMAX

Due to the general crisis of the industry and double-digit inflation, the Chinese have already begun to cut the lineups of screens to only 6.7.
That is, we will see absolutely identical phones in the next model year.

Why did it happen? But because if you are a beggar/pajeet/russian, then you have one portable device. As a rule, its the phone. You don't have a laptop or tablet then. This means that you need a large device to consume content. Well, normies have already realized that the phone is a two-handed device. No one lives in a reality of iPhone 4 and does not type imessages with one hand.

That is, there is no marketing niche for cheap compacts, and no one needs expensive compacts.
But then another thing comes into play. A compact smartphone is hard to make. It need special equipment, you can't use standard components, you need to think about the layout of the device. This cost money. This drastically increases the cost of design and production.

We don't. It's still got a long way to go before it gets efficient enough to not make your device worse. I turned mine off on my S23 and now I only need to charge my phone one time during my work day where I use google maps for many hours. With 5g on I needed to charge it 2-3 times. That tells us 5g is complete shit and not worth using if you ask me

I see a handful of iphone mini's or old smaller phones each day. People have no choice to get a compact phone so they don't buy any because the iPhone mini is expensive. There are no smaller phones for cheap other than the used market. That's why sales from big corps show worse numbers compared to bigger phones. Sorry if I'm using too much logic for you idiots

I have already explained the reason why this is like that. You can't make a compact smartphone out of standard components, so it will cost 30-40% more with the appropriate specs.

>So you're suggesting making compact smartphones for charity reasons, am I right?
No I suggest making redmi and galaxy A series models that are small with midrange specs. Notice how every compact phone has flagship specs or complete dogshit mediatek p60 specs. Why don't they make a middle ground? We all know that the most sold phones are midrange phones. Not flagships

> They don't buy new phone every few years because there are none to buy.
Many have already tried to make compact smartphones, each time it turned out unsuccessfully. There's no point in trying again.

> Explain why they need to put latest flagship soc
Because a compact smartphone with a mid-range SoC will cost as a flagship due to production costs. No one will buy it.
> Nobody makes a compact budget phone with reasonable specs
It is impossible to make something that consists of non standard components without increasing the price. A smartphone with RN11 specifications will cost $600-700. No one will buy such a phone.
> No I suggest making redmi and galaxy A series models that are small with midrange specs.
Then they will have a flagship price.
> Why don't they make a middle ground
Because the development costs are huge. If you don't try to make a big profit, then you will remain at a loss.
Even iPhones with their huge profits were left at a loss.

I am an engineer and I understand that creating a new device is a very expensive venture.
Especially if this device should not be very typical - contain some solutions that are not used everywhere.
Most Chinese smartphones consist of standard modules, standard chassis and all that. You can pay attention, this is especially noticeable with the BBC, where Oppo, Vivo, Oneplus use the same chassis for several smartphones.
If you need to use a non-standard chassis, it costs money in terms of development. A small chassis will require its own assembly line customized for this small chassis. It costs money. A small chassis will require atypical components. Their development will also cost money.

As a result, it turns out that a bunch of huge RND requirements, assembly requirements and all for what? For nothing. There is no market for compact and cheap smartphones because cheap smartphones are mostly bought by poor people, which means they need a big smartphone because they don't have a PC/console/laptop.

I posted few long post why this is so. If we summ it up, such phones do not have a market (because on average poor people buy cheap phones), and such a phone will be expensive due to the high costs of research and development and production. Also, it's niche product, so it will be even more expensive due to low scale economic effects.

Realme 7 pro

128gb, SD card possible, 2 sim cards possible, headphone jack, full recharge in 40 minutes, battery life 2 days & still 4G and not cancer 5G

Using it since 2 years, it's amazing. Also Bought another 2 in almost new condition of ebay as this phone exactly fits my usecase as paranoid traveler so I should be set for at least 5-10 years in case the battery runs out or one breaks down.

Need halp bigly, /g/. I was attempting to upgrade TWRP/Magisk on my phone, and now whenever I try to boot into System, it reboots and goes into TWRP instead.

At this point I don't care for fixing whatever the issue is, but I really need to backup the data from some open source apps like (NewPipe, OTP+, Orgzly, etc), do a fresh install, and restore the apps' data in the new installation.

What are my options here? Should I...
A) Perform a backup / restore of App-relevant partitions using TWRP (restore happens on a newer version of Android)
B) Find the App data manually using TWRP shell, and back it up / restore manually
C) ???

In scenario A), I don't know which partitions I should backup, and I'm a bit confused about the restore process. After restoring, will I have applications installed in my new system, or does that only restore the Application data/cache.

Or maybe I'm going about this in a really retarded way, any advice is appreciated

it's a housefire chip with bad efficiency and one of the worst batt life in the market for the price range, they also have shitty modems and their screens are a few generations old.
>>
Do phones with a headphone jack and SD card support still exists?
>>
>>93698088
They do but I'm not telling
>>
>>93698088
Yes, look for Sony
>>
>>93698088
i think you need to quit being a boomer and get with the times
>>
>>93697933
what's wrong with the 888?
>>
>>93696556
>>93697066
Thanks, I've gone for it. I did take a look at other flagships including the s23 since you mentioned it there, but their advantages were things I wasn't too concerned about like wireless charging and camera zoom, and they were a bit more expensive.

House fire made by Samsung
>>
>>93698180
CPU is less efficient than the older 865/870 and GPU is a house fire under load, worse than the exynos2100's
>>
>>93698260
>worse than the exynos2100's
It's the other way retard. 888 performs better and they both heat up like housefires
>>
motorola stylus 5g with 8gb ram and 512gb storage worth it at $400?
>>
I am going to keep buying S10es and Pixels 4s until Android manufacturers start releasing decent size phones again.
>>
>>93697933
>>93698260
>>93698238
Could there be a difference between the 888 used by samsung vs oppo?
The oppo seems to have a much better battery life despite using the same processor and about the same battery capacity.
>>
>>93698610
just get a zenfone 9 and keep it for years, the difference is negligible and the hardware is lightyears ahead.
>>
>>93698631
There's no difference, it's just software after that.
>>
>>93697066
> it's a solid phone if you can afford it go for it, if you can find the s23 cheaper in your country I'd go for that though
The S23 is definitely worse than the OnePlus 11. A Simple S23 has less memory and it is UFS3.

>>93698216
> I did take a look at other flagships including the s23 since you mentioned it there
Keep in mind that now you need at least 12 gigabytes of RAM if you want keep phone for more than a year.
256 gigabytes of internal memory will also be good, Samsung will take about 35 gigabytes out of 128 out of the box. OnePlus 12-16.
>>
>>93699069
Not a worse phone, it's a more polished experience, better, support, better camera and the s23 256gb uses UFS 4.0 cunt

>>Keep in mind that now you need at least 12 gigabytes of RAM if you want keep phone for more than a year.
Fucking retarded take.
>>
>>93699120
Doesn't the S23 have that weird camera blur issue that hasn't been fixed yet?
>>
>>93699120

Hi sir.
>>

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
>>
>>93699120
> Fucking retarded take.
Samsung has much more bloat, and at the same time is much less optimized.
> more polished experience
>samsung
Retard alert

>>
>>93699548
>>93699574
all bloatware can be uninstalled and disabled through the tool on the OP you newfag tourists
>>
>>93699536
> HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
BBK has the best of what there is on market. At least it don't lag out of the box and it don't have a built-in netflix application, an extra browser and other shit from Samsung.

>>93699589
>Pay a flagship price for a flagship phone
>Preinstalled ads
N-no thanks
>>
>>93699614
Samsung phones has no ads unless you talk about the galaxy store. Iphone have even more ads and you would never call them out.
>>
>>93699761
My bad, I was talking about LinkedIn, Facebook, etc. that Meta(tm) and Microsoft had paid Samsung to pre-install
>>
>>93699824
Those you can literally remove like any other app. Why would you complain about a non issue? Sounds like cope to me
>>
>>93699911
Idk bro, why would I pay flagship prices for flagship devices riddled with ads? Can you imagine the garbage Apple would get from doing this? Not sure why Samsung gets a pass lol
>>
>>93699949
what are you even talking about? you can just remove the apps by clicking uninstall

sounds like you are coping cuz u cant afford it
>>
>>93699949
Do you have brain damage or you just can't read??

Inb4 Nokia 3310, I sadly need GPS capability sometimes
>>
>>93700022

Bro, removable or not, why would I spend $1,000+ for a software experience full of bloatware? Imagine if Samsung had Candy Crush lmao
>Just tinker to make it work, bro
>>
>>93698683
bro literaly everysingl fucking good phone in existence is not useable with verizon wtf
>>
>>93700170
Dude you don't understand, they're saving you time by preinstalling Tik Tok for you. The money they get from putting this crapware on your device is just a bonus.
>>
>>93700170
>hitting uninstall on an app is now considered tinkering
So you do have brain damage. Can we do anything to help you anon?
>>
>>93700639
Nah, brain damage is willingly buying into software full of bloat over software that isn't lmao
>>
>>93700708
I've owned many phones from every brand in the past few years and nobody has as good software as samsung. Most have what you call bloat pre-installed even sony. Seek help because you don't seem to feel well
>>
>>93700740
>Sony
>Facebook and LinkedIn
Cringe, but already better than Samsung lmao
>>
>>93697729
>thats at the end of its life cycle
Not receiving updates doesn't mean it's at the end of its life cycle. And it's still receiving updates.
>>
>>93700708
cope and seethe retard, enjoy your colorOS with the mandated CCP backdoors and spyware
>>
>>93697910
S21 FE
>>
>>93698383
Which one?
>>
>>93700840
>Just Netflix
Unironically, ColorOS is leaner in terms of 3rd party bloatware lmao

No, I will not cope and seethe. I will simply buy into a flavour of Android without 3rd party bloatware
>>
>>93700882
its the seafoam green one with 120hz and 8gb ram
>>
>>93700781
Nothing is better than samsung when it comes to software. Not even iOS. You will not get a more bug free, feature rich and polished experience than oneUI as we currently stand. It's simply unmatched.
>>
>>93700918
>feature rich
Samsung should add even more "features" and pre-install the top 50 most downloaded apps from the Google Play store
>>
still listen to this kino now and then
https://youtu.be/wxwycoG41fc
>>
>>93700900
>he thinks the CCP government doesn't force BBK to install backdoors and spyware on their international spy devices
ok so it is brain damage
>>
>>93701099
Probably? Android has many different flavours tho, some with 3rd party bloatware, other without :)
>>
>3rd party bloat or kernel level logging
hard choice desu
