I use cinnamon. Its based on gnome 3.5 I believe but out of modern Gnome vs Xfce its gonna be Xfce it looks real snazzy with Chicago95 icons

I like both, but since XFCE is less resource intensive I use that on my laptop (not talking about ram but cpu, startup speed, etc.). I have used both Gnome and XFCE for some time and liked them both, while every other DE was trash (I've tried pretty much all of them.)
