Ideally have a single project for the summer that you can have them work on, preferably with you. It's good for them to get to see a whole development lifecycle (up to deployment, not long term obviously) and it lets them understand with confidence what they've accomplished over the summer.

Worst case just have a list of tasks to throw at them. Just make sure you have something for them to do.

Unironically yeah, the more you pretend to do shit the more people around you will consider you indispensable. My boss has been working for 40 years pulling this kind of shit, something as simple as putting in a new switch he'll drag out for weeks, or he'll intentionally create loops when things get too quiet and spend two hours pretending to fix it. It's kind of an art form after a while. Pulled me to the side after a week on the job and told me to take my time on tickets since we're hourly.

It's nice, but if you don't learn japanese don't expect much from japanese people outside of tokyo, don't expect having a long term relationship with a woman o friends. Anyways, if you learn japanese and interact with you'll discover the insane amount of problems they have as a country.

I think if you get hired at one of those places, you're likely to have qualifications that give you some kind of general mass appeal that makes it easier for HR simpletons to understand you have some kind of value.
Personally, I'd be more interested in working with someone who has experience dealing with keeping small-scale organizations running. Someone succeeding in such a context can suggest that person could be more adaptable and require less oversight. Large organizations can afford to be run less efficiently and can end up with a lot of staff that are essentially just ballast. They might also have an understanding of practical value that goes beyond "big number = good".

This job I got at a smaller company less than a year after getting my AA in cybersecurity technically fits the definition of a CISO, so I can have that on my resume if I like. Kinda feel that's a bit too pretentious to identify as until I have a few years more experience, though.

Here's a list of the one perceived and experienced:
>Women are very likely to cheat more than western women ironically (specially in Tokyo). Some of them want to know what sex with a foreign guy is like and then they just forget about you.
>If you get into a serious relationship, parents might in the way because you're gaijin and if you don't have their approval your relationship is doomed.
>Not knowing how tatemae works will fuck up social life.
>Some nips might pretend to be nice to you, but you can hear them talking shit about you because they assume you don't know japanese
>Gaijin hunters.
>Some places deny the right to rent to gaijin.
>There's this mentality where there's problem, but no one points out, talks about it or address the issue because of "my social harmony"
>Get denied access to places for being gaijin.
>pensions are shit. (Had to help my father-in-law)
>Lots of homeless people living in cyber cafes.
>Had to make my first CV by hand because they refused to accept it in pdf.
>Peer pressure to not take vacations is a real thing.
>Witnessed sexual abuse on Shibuya and people did nothing about it.
>Lots of poverty outside of Tokyo
>Cops might stop you every now and then to check your papers

No, I'm not telling that you should forget about it. It's a great country and you can make friends and have and actual relationship like I do (if you learn japanese that is). But pisses me off those foreigners (particularly americans and british) that spend like 2-4 years in japan without learning japanese or leaving Tokyo and claim that is a paradise.

this is a huge thing in asia. so funny when westoids think asian women are super loyal. the opposite is true. cheating is completely normalized. people will talk about cheating on their husband or wife at the office with literally zero shame. your wife will cheat on you and get angry if you make a big deal out of it. fucking crazy place. I couldn't even tell you how many times people at the office talked about their cheating love affairs. maybe asian women living in the west are loyal, I couldn't tell you. but asian women in asia are not. at least the ones who go to offices.

How do I get a ML engineer or a data science job?
I already work for a company developing and deploying AI apps but never the "dirty" work of actually doing research or working on something really groundbreaking. Also, my job pays like shit.

What would be the step by step process of trying to get on the radar of HR people on Linkedin, or for the ML and data science jobs I apply for? Is certification mandatory?

Not necessarily, a lot of HR roasties want you to answer questions in a specific way. Look up STAR interview method and common behavioral interview questions, come up with answers for behavioral questions and rehearse them to the point you can recite them confidently when asked during an interview. Some of those "describe a time you had a conflict with a coworker" type questions are literally impossible for juniors to answer so just fabricate a story about how your coworker at your IT job was doing blah blah blah and you explained to them blah blah blah and you came to an agreement to do blah blah blah moving forward.

Intrusive mental images aren't mentioned before the 1970s in psychiatry despite being one of the most common symptoms in multiple mental illnesses. What is the reason for this? I even read my father's old psychiatry study book from the 70s for doctor's education so a crucial book that covers most mental issues yet it doesn't mention intrusive images anywhere in it.

If you're getting a security clearance you're most likely looking for a job with the government.
There are more national government jobs than any individual state government jobs
Most main offices for government(national) jobs are going to be near or at the government capital.
If you needed a security clearance to get the job, they're unlikely to allow an insecure method of access like remote working

Therefore if you want a larger selection of government jobs that your security clearance is required for, you need to go to the place where the jobs are.

> A technical recruiter, having discovered that that the ways of Unix hackers were strange to him, sought an audience with Master Foo to learn more about the Way. Master Foo met the recruiter in the HR offices of a large firm.
> The recruiter said, “I have observed that Unix hackers scowl or become annoyed when I ask them how many years of experience they have in a new programming language. Why is this so?”
> Master Foo stood, and began to pace across the office floor. The recruiter was puzzled, and asked “What are you doing?”
> “I am learning to walk,” replied Master Foo.
> “I saw you walk through that door” the recruiter exclaimed, “and you are not stumbling over your own feet. Obviously you already know how to walk.”
> “Yes, but this floor is new to me.” replied Master Foo.

1. Since you're graduating in May change your title to look like a co-op so like Software Engineering Intern and maybe even put part time there.
2. When you apply to a job see what language they prefer? Try to highlight languages that you my have used in each bullet point.
3. You look like a full stack developer but have software engineer recruiters are retards so replace the headline with "Fullstack Software Engineer".
3. Too many bullet points should be 3-4 sentences max if it each point will fill more than one line!
4. Projects should be just a short description and the languages/tools used. Most people won't read it but it will reinforce the rest of the resume.
5.Just have a resume with your email and phone number AND NO FANCY LINKS (RECRUITERS/HR ARE RETARDS!!!). Have your fancy resume ready to send if you make it to the hiring manager.
Just basing this on A/B testing my resume the past two weeks/some feedback from recruiters

You probably won't get recruiters until you have like at 2 years work experience and like C# or Java lol. I didn't get a lot until like this year when I had like 4. It all depends on what skills are being looked for in you geographic area too, I lucked out and had some .NET experience so I could leverage that even though for the past couple I had been doing NodeJS. I'm about to take a Frontend role where I have the option to do Full Stack every once and a while because I'm tired of Fullstack development for right now because companies that ask you to do that are usually have retarded lead devs/managment that overwork everyone and barely pay you when you're doing like 2 people's jobs' worth of work but again it depends on the company and there are a lot of shit companies.

at my place devops dictate what to do to devs
they basically create ridiculous amounts of bureaucracy and pain to do every little thing, they dont even talk to you directly.

they have several pages of documentation to read just to file a ticket just to talk to one of them. worst fucking team procedures/policies ive ever come across in 10+ years. all that to say, it can be really nice to be devops depending on your company. in the best case (for a devops guy) you basically do very little but make up all the arcane rules. you also have no skin in the game because things are rarely your fault and all the rules you make up dont affect you (no dogfooding). you can just be a useless jenkins/github/lab/whatever monkey and tell principal engineers what color shirt underwear they need to be wearing before they can speak to you
>>

No. The infrastructure needs to be built first. If you suddenly got 10 times smarter you couldn't replace every job in an instant either. The transition will take a few years.

>>
>>93668784
No it doesn't. AI is not magic, it obeys the laws of physics.
>>
>>93668904
Yes it can, as long as it has access to servers. AI can write code 1000x faster than a normal human with moderate computing power (one GPU). Therefore as soon as it finds a vulnerability that allows it to gain more computing power, it can use the computing power to write meaningful code with a business purpose.

For example, let's take Amazon as an example. Amazon allows users to sell and buy items. AI could write an Amazon clone in hours, with better performance and better features. At this time, it has literally replaced all Amazon engineers in hours.

Only jobs that won't be replaced are manual labor/doctors since AI will be limited by shitty physical robots. However, AI could also research better robot design and thus create physical avatars for itself.

It is pure PHP I believe, they didn't name any framework during the interviews and the example project I was required to specifically asked for pure PHP. I am not new to pure PHP but I have 0 experience with frameworks and shiet. Thanks for the PHPUnit advice, I will def look into it

somewhere around Thailand
basically what you seek is sea and lush nature, people accustomed to tourists but not live in tourist destination because they suck ass and are too expensive and functioning internet connection (so you have to find a big enough town/city)

Boss jacked up the in-office days from 2/week to 3/week a while back, and is now introducing additional "milestone celebration" office days when some feature ships where he pours us a glass of cheap cava at the end of the day but also we have to be at the office the entire day. He plans these days in on a whim, so far we've had about 2 per month, which makes for ~3.5 office days per week.
I moved out to the absolute middle of nowhere during covid because I could afford a house there and I thought the shift to remote would be permanent. My commute consists of 30 minutes of being stuck in traffic followed by 40 minutes of public transport.
I can't take this any more but I'm not that good of an engineer and all the fully remote roles are highly competitive.
Do I really need to sell this fucking house and go paying more than its mortgage in rent again to live in half the amount of space but near to my job?
>>

>boohoo an hour commute to work le bad
weakass faggots like you don't deserve jobs
when will jews finally step up and cancel all wfh whatsoever
>>
>>93669456
So why would I avoid them?
>>
>>93669641
No. I have an in demand skillset so I demand my money's worth, including perks like WFH.
>>
>>93669641
why the fuck would you waste 2 hours a day going to a different place than your home just to use the same internet? what's the advantage?
>>
>>93669641
My work day is effectively 2 hours longer than pre-covid and yet my pay hasn't changed. Of course I'm not happy with that.
I don't mind going through a morning routine to look presentable, I don't mind being in an office. I do mind all the extra time waste. I mind that all the tech jobs in this country are in 1 of 3 cities, for no apparent reason whatsoever.

Interns are Litle Match Girl of the modern world. If they don't bring any penny they aren't allowed to go home by their parents or take severe beatings. Tell the treasury / financer in your office to at least pay them 20% of what's the regular pay in your division.

10 days until start a new job. I'm extremely worried.
I've worked 8 years as freelance/contractor in small startups with couple people max but the new job is a multi billion corporation and I have no experience in that.
This is also very senior role and I feel like I don't know anything and will be fired very fast.
Apparently I will be responsible for design and architectures of systems and how dev teams implement them and what tech is being used. I don't know how well I will do, since I'm not good with people, not to mention I don't feel like I have all the experience required.

I guess if nothing else, it will be interesting experience.

if you are passing technical tests and get invited to interviews with no experience it means you are acting autistically at the interview itself aka your "soft skills"/attitude is the issue.

>IT company with client
>2 of us are "on-site" meaning we rotate going into the office
>I'm in my 20s and taking Net+ (boss is paying for certs) not an IT background but at least respond to calls and tickets when I'm in office and working remote, respond via email and try to loop people in etc. basically do all the PC deployments and new hires and talk to client employees
>other guy is married with kids, lives 90min away from office, barely responsive when remote, has more experience but client doesn't even really like him and our other coworker who's 100% remote always calls him out for not taking tickets taking random days off for his kids etc.
>yesterday he was MIA basically all day
>boss told me he's considering making him 100% remote
My boss is coming in the office today and we'll discuss. I can either do nothing or twist the knife in this guy and possibly be 100% remote if I agree with my other coworker who's been complaining. I'm also newer so the lazy guy will be pissed if he's in and I'm remote. But fuck him, right? My boss also discussed firing him by the end of the year and hiring someone more junior for me to manage while remote more often.
>>
>>93669771
Do you HAVE to be there 8hrs? If these days your boss plans are random and don't really have any activity until the end, can you come in after work for a half day? Or leave early?
Also why do you drive and take public transport? Does your office not have a garage or are you autistic and won't park your car in the city?
