The board seems nice and they gave huge discounts when I asked if I could return it so I am going to keep it but I am low key nervous to use it. I know this is paranoid since I am just using it for my gaming PC and its not like I work for government or anything special and even then EVERYTHING is made in China today so whatever state mandated spyware it could potentially have would be on anything I could buy elsewhere anyways. what is your guy's take on this? Alright after weeks of checking the website daily for updates the FR4 plates for the Monsgeek M2 are finally in stock. I am pulling the trigger on a board at the end of the day. About to get a black one. Going ot rock kailh box pinks and navys (KSA space bar is too heavy for box pinks) for things like the spacebar and topping them with KSA silver and gray caps that I recieved recently. Going to try grease free stab lubrication with PTFE tape.Any objections/tips ?Is there even anything remotely comparable to these boards at the price point + intl shipping ?

>>93673886Dye sub is always PBT. Then the quality can still vary between manufacturers.Double shot keycaps are more often than not PBT/ABS mix. The quality of the plastic can vary a lot and some are just as good as 100% PBT. It doesn't handle being dropped well at all, i had to replace multiple switches already.80% without numpad to save some size/weight, i dont need numpad.Must be wireless, don't care if it's a small dongle or bluetooth. Large dongle is no-go.I need a large-ish palm rest that is either permanently attached to the keyboard (ideal) or that i can attach myself permanently (not afraid to just glue it).If there is no palm rest, i would consider to like 3d print one and mount it myself but meh.Not afraid of DIY I'm comfortable soldering etc. If there is a cool project out there that fits happy to go that route.Shouldn't be super expensive and needs to be available in europe.
>>93645343Well poisoners. There is almost nothing to gain from colemak, and the fragmentation means we will never get official support like dvorak in windows
>>93714547why does it need support when its built into your keyboard at the firmware level?
Just got my Keychron Q1 pro with Red.It's alright. Not a fan of via, it's a bit hard to get used to if you don't use a qwerty layout imo.I used to have a Filco with MX Blues, I used to slam my fat fingers on the keys and now the Gateron Reds feel way too light and I make a shitton of mistakes. Will I eventually get used to it or should I try different switches that require more force?I didn't get Blues because on my previous keyboard, the "click" never perfectly matched with the actually input and it was fucking annoying.
>>93715537You could switch the springs to something heavier, or try Kailh box burnt orange.
>>93715537Try gat yellows, their weight being in between red & black is what makes them pretty popular.
is the platform for moonlander worth it?
Is there a 100% PCB that has good customizability? I've never managed to find a ready-made mechanical keyboard with the layout I want, and I don't think I've really even seen a PCB for it either.
>>93641433Has anyone made a mechanical replica of the natural ergonomic line of keyboards shit?>inb4 muh patentsThe design its over 25yo, patents are gone
how could I use this on windows?
Any non-chink made keyboard companies out there? I wanna support autarky, but also mainly because I wish MacArthur had done a nuclear holocaust on the chinks back in the 50s
>>93721800you probably won't find many 100% PCBs on their own, anything with QMK support should suit you well in terms of customizability though
>>93726456Nah, I have a goal in terms of key layout and there's basically nothing on the market for it. A PCB is my only option for a mechanical.
>>93721800If it doesn't exist then it's time to learn PCB design. It's not as daunting as it seems and there are lots of guides out there (specifically for keyboards too). ai03's guide is a good place to start.
I’m looking for a mid tier full keyboard that doesn’t have a clicky-clacky sound.I last bought a keyboard 17 years ago… are all mechanical keyboards clicky sounding?Budget: ideally around $50-$70. Rgb if possible.
>>93726878Keychron C2 pro, comes with reds (linear) or browns (tactile) which aren't silent but definitely quieter than the 'clicky' blues you might be used to
>>93704677I need more
>>93726878>are all mechanical keyboards clicky sounding? No, some are even quieter than a regular rubber dome board. https://youtu.be/IFXW9k2Jlhg
will getting a smaller keyboard improve my ergonomics and gaming performance if I'm shorter than average
>>93726878the no name ones or the Gaymin ones are the clicky clacky you can make budget boards sound better cuz mods exist
>Mkultra goes silent after saying his site is shutting down on april 1 reddit post>customers going insane thinking their gmk nord isn't going to arrive>comes back literally few days ago to say things are starting to ship>customer so relieved they're begging to buy him a drink for doing the bare minimum of a storefrontSo damn embarrassing.
>>93724749Yes. Unicomp makes most of their keyboard parts in America. Everything you can buy elsewhere will be chink. Very few exceptions. It's a good keyboard but lacks QMK which is a deal breaker for me. If you don't care about that their new model Ms are fine keyboards and will not need a replacement for at least a couple decades.>>93731971I will never pay to enter group buys. No exceptions.
>>93643544I have a lily58 with a pretty standard qwerty layout, I mostly play fps game and haven't needed to rebind anything major (only ` since I have it behind a layer and y since it's on the right half)
>>93695900>>93696136what kind of keycaps are these
>>93733083Keychron KSA. The Macros keys on the left are completely non standard and are pretty much not replaceable they don't use MX switches either. You can buy a set on keychron's website.I have a set and while it's not perfect it's cheap and the profile is very nice.
Why won't Drop ship to Brazil god dammit
Thoughts on the quality of akko keycaps? Or should I just buy gmk clones from china?
>>93733703why would anyone ship to brazilwhy would anyone live in brazil
>keycaps and switches are fucking around somewhere around my town>god willing I'll have them in my hands today

>>93642150hide the pain harry
>>93738885>>93743160the shine through looks better in photo than irl imo, maybe it will be a bit better at night, but I like the XVX profile, wasn't a huge fan of the stock keychrons OSA, maybe they were too high for my tastefor switches I got akkos jelly purples but only 45 as this was the first time buying switches, were enough for the main part of the kba bit stiffer/need more force than keychron browns, less pingy sound maybe, idk hard to compare as I've only ever tried MX browns and keychron browns b4 and now I only have the keychrons to compare the jellys tothe keycaps cost me 22 euros with shippinghttps://vi.aliexpress.com/item/1005004537134105.html
I just got gateron blues and they're feel lighter and less tactile than my cheapo chinese browns. aren't blues suppose to feel kinda heavy??? i feel like im gonna make a ton of mistakes with these.
I can't believe I got memed into getting this keyboard. This shit is worse than my thailand keyboard that was $40. like wtf bro. yall some memers getting gaslight into buying normal shit for high markup. this hobby is dumb af and im upset i got duped by gaymer marketing and hipyotech videos.honestly what is the appeal of this for you? im not getting it. i could of just bought new vans instead.
>>93749099>doesn't actually specify what board he gotOk
>>93749149sorry keychron k8. yeah its not high end but after this there's no way in hell im spending $300 on a keyboard unless it's got like a automated fleshlight in it.
This is my response: a keyboard is an input device to a modern workstation.
I've got about a $150 budget. Is Nuphy Air still the best low-profile mechanical keyboard? Yes I know low-profile is a meme but I already have several full size.
>>93749099K8 is an old ass meme and was only good back when keychron was the only half decent chink shit option. You can only blame yourself for not doing the research and trying to penny pinch. If you wanted premium quality why did you buy from the second cheapest line from a chink manufacturer ? I would never recommend a K8 in this day and age. Hell I would not even recommend the pro version. If you can't set aside at least 100$ for something good then you deserve the dogshit quality. Also: >Vans
>>93750985Almost all modern low profile keyboards are built the same way sound the same, use the same switches (except nuphy) and use very similar keycaps. I have a Keychron K3 Pro lowprofile but only because it's one of the few ISO offerings (if not the only low profile ISO). I had no issues with it but I think it looks like ass and is too expensive compared to the competition and that would be the major differentiating factor between these boards anyway. So yeah either nuphy air or Redragon TL84. Simliar boards but the cheaper redragon is not time tested yet.
>>93641433are there any split keyboards that have a trackpoint?
>>93751000like i implied to the other guy, what would even be the point? it seems like everything aside from the switches themselves are fairly minor yet are priced as if they are major factors. i dont care about thock, i care about feel. these switches feel mid and the keyboard itself feels worse then my thai one. those are my complaints. >Vanswhat about them? they're light, flat, and not ugly. they're great.
>>93733703because it's a shithole
Silver Q3 Pro restock when, reee
Was thinking about getting an aluminum frame keyboard but I read scratching can be a problem vs. plastic. Anyone have any issues with this?
>>93753230Depends on the quality of the finish, but good anodizing is pretty damn resilient. Anything that leaves a mark on that would leave a gouge on plastic too.
>>93753230Scratching on what? Just put it on a desk mat.
is there anything like the kinesis advantage 360 with a aluminum chassis and hotswap?
>>93756220No. There are some dactyls that people have made hotswap but an alu chassis with curved columns like that would be eye wateringly expensive.
is hotswappable keyboard actually hot swappable or did they just call it that because you don't need to solder?as in can the keyboard be plugged in when you're putting in/taking out switches
do they make any of those split keyboards with an analog stick
>>93757742I've pulled switches out of my keyboard while it was plugged in and its PCB wasn't even hotswap from the factory.
>>93653230Honestly the tescee purple pandas are pretty good
got a new ducky one 3 four months ago and it still works perfect except the green in a few RGB LEDS has stopped working. Is it even worth sending it for RMA and waiting a month for them to fix like 6 lights, my only replacement board has cherry blacks and I never want to go back to that
>>93758894>pay out the ass for stupid chinkshit>it breaks instantly>is it even worth to RMAno, just throw another 200 down the drain and buy something more stupid
>>93759074unfortunately I live in a small country and the only two vendors doing this keyboard layout with cherry red switches were ducky and mountain, ducky seemed like the better option from the two

>>93761130well, buying from aliex is always chink gacha they didnt even state if it's the chink version lmaowell it still works tho, barely need to change any keys on mine anyways
>>93761240Aside from the plate mount stabs and QMK you can remedy most issues with the board. I mean surely you got tape and bandaids laying around.
>>93761261i do and it sounds and feels okay for the most partbut if this were bought by a noob in the hobby thinking this would be his gateway into building and modding, that person is gonna have a hard time
What does /g/ think about the Montech Mkey, Gateron Pro 2.0 prelubed out of the box, hotswap 5 pin PCB, TKL and full size with knob and mini 60% coming later, gasket mount dual silicone dampening, PBT dye sub and MDA profile keycaps.Basically thocks out of the box for $99 on the full size and $89 for the TKL, looks pretty good for a starter keyboard and has all the stuff you'd want already pre-done.
>>93760731just buy another apex or whatever gamer trash you had before
>>93761667Lubed gat yellows and gasket mount with PBT caps for a hunnid bux? A knob too ? Wish I got that as my first board instead of the dogshit RK84 you fuckers recommended me back then.
