FAQ:
>How do I activate Windows?
https://github.com/massgravel/Microsoft-Activation-Scripts
HWID mimics upgrade activation to generate a permanent legitimate license. (non-VL only)

>>Which W10 version should I install?
>Home/Pro
Comes with bloatware apps (games, music, news, etc) and bloatware system apps
>Edu/Workstation/Enterprise
Comes with bloatware system apps (weather, people, onedrive, teams, etc).
>LTSC, 5 years support VL-KMS only
>IoT LTSC, 10 years support HWID only
Comes with Win32 system utils, no MS Store, no apps. It's basically W10: W7 Edition
If you need MS Store, run this in cmd: wsreset -i
Install Xbox/Gamebar apps for feature parity with other versions.

>Do I even need IoT LTSC?
W10 Home/Pro/Edu/Ent editions end support in 2025, LTSC in 2027, IoT LTSC in 2032.

>How do I activate Office?
https://github.com/abbodi1406/KMS_VL_ALL_AIO/releases
Emulated KMS server, not ideal as it can trip AV and deactivate. Alternatively, use MSOffice through your browser since it's free.
Or you can try OnlyOffice/LibreOffice and set it to save as MSOffice file formats.

What's the current meta to get Windows 11? HWID activated W10 then upgrade?
>>
>>92182866
You can just use the latest 11 ISO and install the Education version directly through that, which then lets you local domain join just like 10 if you want to install with internet or just choose the "I don't have internet" option on the network screen which appears for you on an Education OOBE by default without any tweaking needed for it to appear compared to Home/Pro. Then yeah after you get to your desktop and set some other shit up you can just run MAS and its HWID activator and you're golden.

Realistically speaking, do I really need both Edge and Windows Defender installed in my LTSC gaming PC?
>>
>>92183885
Will you ever use Edge? Do you use another AV or just don't want to use one at all?
Then sure remove them from the ISO before flashing it.
>>
>>92183906
I dont care about Edge, but some people said that it breaks some games when uninstalled.

Defender is complicated, i know that its acticely spying on you scanning your files and shit and that makes me feel uncomfortable, BUT, I am using Windows, does removing it really matter after all
>>
>>92183952
Removing it doesn't make anything else not work if that's what you're wondering.
And yeah, Edge is the backbone of WebView2 where WebView used an inaccessible IE11. If you're using something that needs WebView2 and you don't have Edge on the machine then yeah it'll break.

You could always try pirating the payed version of it if you're brave.

I'm guessing this is a list of the top 3 virus removers according to whoever? Rkill seems fairly straightforward in how it scans for any viruses and kills the processes so you can actually just use your AV to completely remove it from the computer then.

What's the difference between WIM and ISO images? I don't know how to mount my Windows 10 ISO using DISM

I dunno about changing WIMs with DISM but there's tools like Optimize-Offline, MSMG Toolkit and NTLite which exist to customize a WIM so you can remove or add things to a base ISO.
>>
Ok, I installed win 10 LTSC IoT and ran the debloater, how can I COMPLETELY remove Edge and other bloatware?
No, I'm not installing Tiny10.
>>
>>92186973
Being on 21H2 you can probably remove it with AveYo's Edge removal script and it won't come back. Otherwise there's literally no other bloatware.
You can also just run ShutUp10++'s recommended settings to get all the debotnetting and such done in one fell swoop.

you could use an ahk script for that, tried to write one:

I mean let me put it this way, putting windows OS-tans in the OPs is good with me, i love that shit even though i don't really use windows anymore. "pic unrelated" is a staple of this shithole, especially for opening posts. and again, doesn't seem to be some super consistent thing, it seems to impact /fwt/ more than other threads imo, sounds like a grudge and shitty moderation to me

NTDEV seems trustworthy enough with how he shows it off through his Youtube channel. People that've used it in the comments say it's pretty much brought so many of their old PCs back to life. There was even another channel that did a video on virus scanning a fresh install of both tiny10 and tiny11 and both came up with nothing truly malicious. Guess it all comes down to just downloading the ISO from NTDEV's own Archive account.

I like Windows, I just hate Microsoft. If I could have Windows 10/11 without the stupid design shit and hostility that they've accumulated into the OS since Vista, I'd never bother to run Linux... but that doesn't exist. Debloating and other tricks get you into no man's land, where you're no longer running "supported" Windows, but you're also not running a community supported OS setup either.
>>
>>92208270
>where you're no longer running "supported" Windows
As of now it only feels this way if you use base Windows 11 with the hardware bypasses. Using something like tiny11 or ReviOS 11 doesn't make it feel gimped in that way.

Does anyone know where I can get IDA type libraries for interfaces that are older than most zoomers? I can't get it to accept IDirect3D3* for &v16.

The type confusion between GUID and LPDIRECTDRAW* is probably not fixable. The code uses the memory address for reading the GUID as the same address for writing the interface into:

> mov esi,dword ptr ss:[esp+10]
> lea eax,dword ptr ss:[esp+10]

, so I'm probably fucked here, too.

Now that you've installed Ventoy on the USB you can now just start to place ISOs in the Ventoy drive that you can access in My Computer, which you can then access directly when you boot into it.
The actual guts of Ventoy are all inside a hidden partition.

regardless, they're not going to be a magic bullet, there's no way of telling what program created what
having to go through all the various cache directories, application data directories, and user data directories applications leave behind is basically a necessity and you should do so on the regular

Literally just go into your manufacturer's/OEM website and get the drivers.
Everytime you clean install an OS on a laptop (or a device with a non generic network adapter) you must make sure you have the WLAN driver in an USB.
This is basic stuff. Also make sure to disable Windows Update from updating drivers, install your manufacturer drivers if you are in a laptop.

A reminder to those anons wanting to do a clean install on your new laptop.
>go to manufacturers website (from another PC or phone), get WLAN/LAN drivers and put it on a USB flash
>go to group policy editor and disable Windows Update from installing drivers (Computer Config\Admin templates\Windows Components\Windows Update\ Do not include drivers)
>stick USB flash in and install WLAN/LAN driver
>let Windows update
>go to your manufacturer's/OEM website and manually download all drivers for your specific laptop apart from previously installed ones in the first step (alternatively use OEM driver update tool if they have one)
>do not install drivers directly from vendor (NVIDIA, Intel, AMD, etc) unless you have a very specific reason to do so
>you also don't want Windows Update to handle driver updates UNLESS your OEM specifically tells you to do so
I am posting this because a few months ago I got a new laptop (Lenovo Ideapad 3) which came with Windows 11. I instantly nuked Win11 and installed Win10 LTSC IoT.
I made the mistake of letting Windows update handle drivers. Everything seemed fine until a month later, when I started getting bizarre BSoDs. I was losing my head for an entire month until I finally tracked what the problem was. It was a driver problem, specifically the graphics driver.
I uninstalled the AMD VGA driver that Windows Update installed and replaced it with the OEM version (Lenovo) and everything worked fine afterwards and I even noticed a performance increase.
Apparently OEMs usually optimize drivers for the specific laptop hardware, meanwhile Windows Update drivers are generic ones. OEM drivers might be based on older versions of the drivers but don't be fooled by the versions.
I reinstalled Windows but this time making sure to only use OEM drivers just in case and now everything works perfectly. My network speed is even higher nowadays and overall everything feels snappier than before.
>>
>>92224368
So I'm guessing when you install LTSC on a new laptop that had 11 on it you won't have wireless/ethernet drivers at first desktop boot? Which is why you need to download said drivers from the OEM's website and install them that way to actually get internet working. Shame it's such a hassle.
>>
>>92225461
It's not really that hard unless your OEM doesn't provide the driver (or they provide a broken version). But yeah, you just have to have the driver ready. Although if your laptop has an ethernet port, there's a chance it might work without drivers but it's better not risking it.
Just make sure to disable Windows Update driver installation BEFORE you install the WLAN/LAN driver, otherwise Windows Update will shit your installation up with generic drivers.
>>
>>92226141
Yeah I got that. Will keep this in mind if it ever pops up.
I wonder if it's the same deal if you install using a base 10/11 ISO instead of LTSC. LTSC does have less overall included drivers then usual.

Are Windows 11 auto updates as annoying as Windows 10?
>>
>>92228270
They're about the same. You can always make them less annoying/more reined in via using local group policies. Specifically enabling "configure automatic updates" and setting it to 2 (download and notify for install) and "No auto-restart with logged on users for scheduled automatic updates installation"
>>
>>92221378
Either/or would work. Tiny11 is basically an install of Pro that the dev made with NTLite that removed enough unessential services to run on basically any computer. They even made a "Tiny11 Builder" which can make a Tiny11 ISO for you out of a baseline 11 22H2 ISO. Then naturally IoT LTSC is IoT LTSC.
>>
>>92230410
>Tiny11
Is it better go tiny or ghost specter build?
>>
>>92230513
Again, either/or. They're very similar projects.
Check out some reviews/runthroughs for them and see what you think. I guess Ghost Specter has that Ghost Toolbox included which is a TUI to download some programs and drivers and such if needed, while Tiny11 has a folder on the desktop which includes a bunch of installers for things also like programs and drivers.
>>
>>92230560
do they have issues with drivers? mainly nic and hi-fi dac drivers?
>>
>>92230584
It's like LTSC in that sense in that some drivers for things like that aren't included and you'll either have to hope that the toolbox or installer folders have what you need, but you can always just run SDIO which is also included in the Tiny11 folders.

Who knows, it could be the old graphics card being on its last legs.
>>
>>92231203
it's something different every time, I usually try to take a pic with the smartphone but I arrive too late. I also sometimes google the error codes but since I use incognito mode I lost them.

the following codes are all from today but I got dozens of bsod with different codes lately:
>kernel security check failure
>memory management
>multiple irp complete requests

>it could be the old graphics card being on its last legs.
My cpu's got Integra graphics, maybe I'll try using that for a while to see if the crashes are happening again
>>
>>92231368
Seems like some kind of hardware error or another. You should probably do a "dism.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /Restorehealth" and "sfc /scannow" in an admin command prompt anyway to see if any Windows bits are corrupted and can be fixed up. Also with that memory management error you should probably check the memory health with Windows Memory Diagnostic to see if anything's wrong.

>You should probably do a "dism.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /Restorehealth" and "sfc /scannow" in an admin command prompt
I did that yesterday, the first one said it corrected something, the second one didn't find anything if i remember correctly.

A couple months ago I also had set a registry thing that blocked GPU's automatic updates because windows updater kept overriding the AMD drivers with some shitty ones. I removed that a few days ago (and also did a clean GPU driver install).

>you should probably check the memory health with Windows Memory Diagnostic to see if anything's wrong
I'll try it, now I've been using the pc with the monitor cable plugged into the motherboard for 15 minutes and I haven't had errors or crashes at the moment

>now I've been using the pc with the monitor cable plugged into the motherboard for 15 minutes and I haven't had errors or crashes at the moment
So it could be the graphics card then.

will i have any problems with games if i uses iot LTSC?
>>
>>92231966
You shouldn't overall. 20H1 is usually the hard limit some games will run on but IoT LTSC 2021 uses 21H2 so it shouldn't be a problem.
>>
>>92231989
how much lighter is it actually compared to education?
>>
>>92232016
Compared to Education it doesn't even have any first-party UWP apps installed except Edge. Basically just Education but completely debloated already and with a ludicrously long EoL which is why people like it. Just can be a bit of a hassle to install on OEM PCs because it doesn't come with as much drivers as a base ISO.
>>
>want to have the system icons as w11 but with a small taskbar
Can you do that with explorer patchers?
>>
>>92232185
You can use ExplorerPatcher to make the taskbar small but shit like the clock gets all squashed and ugly.
>>
I just realized how busted the undo function is on windows
If you're not careful you can make entire folders disappear, it doesn't even put it in the recycle bin
>>
Is there IoT LTSC win11?
>>
>>92232354
No and there probably won't be. 11 Education is the way to go there.
>>
>>92232361
so only kms activation and no HWID?
>>
>>92232373
who told you that? HWID works on 11 Edu
>>
>>92232373
No? 11 Edu can be HWID activated just like 10 Edu. The only editions that need to be activated with KMS are non-IoT LTSC and Windows Server, plus using it to activate Office.
>>
>>92232201
Ah shit
>>
do you think they will actually restrict updates on unsupported hardware on 11?
i have been using it for a couple of days and havent gotten the watermark
>>
>>92232597
Who knows? Could've just been MS puffing their chest out.
>>
>>92232597
Currently there are no reports of any updates actually being restricted

How do I diagnose this garbage? It's an NVMe drive.

Does win11 still use 5 letters of email as user name if you log in with ms account during fresh install?

Anon just use a local account.

I need to install windows on a computer to try Diablo4 but only have linux boxes. If I use balenaetcher to flash LTSC ISO it says "no partition table " blabla and when I try to boot with the resulting USB it just skips it and goes to normal linux boot.

Sounds like you need windows usb creation tool or rufus to make a _bootable_ usb but they don't have linux versions.

Ideas?
>>
>>92234742
Can't you just use Ventoy?
>>
>>92234777
Giving it a try now, thanks
>>
>>92234742
On Linux your choices are WoeUSB or Ventoy if you want to make a USB that can boot into Windows. WoeUSB for single boot and Ventoy for multi boot.
>>
>>92234777
>>92234902
Ventoy worked. thanks buddy
>>
>>92235202
Good for you anon. Enjoying your actiblizzard game :)
>>
>>92234544
Set CPU, chassis, and GPU fans to stay at aggressive RPM at all times. Now the drive is at 55 degrees.
>>
>>92235258
Something's still up with it if the NVMe was staying that hot. Like it's thermal shield isn't doing enough.
>>
>>92235275
I think I've just been letting it overheat for a while now, causing it to degrade to the point where it's an issue. Sometimes I turn my fans down to heat up my room lol
>>
>>92235202
I'm guessing you just left the USB as MBR? I made mine GPT exFAT with Secure Boot support.

Try running a dism.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /Restorehealth" and "sfc /scannow" in an admin command prompt to see if any Windows components are corrupted and need fixing. You could also check the Event Viewer to see if this sudden shutting down is connected to something.

Any benefit in using WSL as your main terminal profile?

Default / MBR, yes

Did anyone use ghost specter win 11? Is it safe/worth using? Could you recommend it?

the driver \Driver\WudfRd failed to load for the device ROOT\SYSTEM\0001
the driver \Driver\WudfRd failed to load for the device PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_1903&SUBSYS_371717AA&REV_05\3&11583659&1&20
these are the two error messages preceding the shutdown. i had already updated. all my drivers to the most recent. some person on youtube told me to manually deinstall all USB devices so i tried that
the two command prompts found no problem. apparently the error codes are linked to USB and thunderbolt? I have a hunch my cheapo usb-keyboard might cause the issue. going to try if i'll be ok with a different one
