I found this ancient physical data card in my late grandfathers belongings. I'd like to access the data but I don't know what hardware I need to read it. My cerebral implant couldn't interface with it and I'm worried about the legality of using offline storage. Anyone know how I can see whatever my granddad was keeping on this thing?

i believe that's what they used to call a floppy
it's actually what the sync icon is based on!
from what i remember you need a "qr scanner"
ask your tamagotchi neuroemotive assistant to order one for you

That's actually what we used to call a suppository memory card. You insert it anally and the data is uploaded to your neural link.

Put it back in the phone you stole, then give it back Jamal.

You have to turn it into the police. It's illegal to possess non-tpm and non-blockchain encoding computer technology. They will dispose of it for you.

They call it an "ess-dee" card. They're supposedly edible and have nutritional value.

please be prepared to forfeit the recording of all events including and following the acquisition of the unsafe, unsecured technology device. the security council will review it for any deviations in social or technological etiquette. it's the only way we can be sure you haven't interfaced with the legacy technology unsafely in a manner which can cause disdain towards our friendly advertising partners.
please remember that any violations in the footage that result in a deduction of your citizen score will have double impact due to the presence of unsafe technology.

the sd protocol is actually fucking simple, and most cards even support accessing it with SPI which is even good because most microcontrollers support that shit

My neighbor got caught using a non-approved blockchain USB drive and he was sent to take some education classes on computer safety for a few weeks. It's easier just to follow the law and use the appropriate USB drives to avoid that kind of fate.

Insert it into your ass and your cybernetic implant will read the data on it.

You need a cyberdeck. If you have the dirhams, then Lockheed-Martin is the best, if not then look for used Corpo equipment like Lenovo HackPads. They have compatibility with BSD and free versions of Linux (with no Rust and Microsoft spyware). Then you can install FreeNet - a basic encryption tool where you can access the net. The real one behind the corpo walled gardens from whatever corpo made your cyber gear. You can find some basic running guides then on how to mount (log in to cloud for you) such archaic devices, or what were folders.

Lurk moar. Itt we rp living in a corporate cyberpunk dystopia like the one we're headed for where offline storage has been banned and you can't physically interface with anything not produced by whatever corpo you belong to.

they are actually quite simple electronically. you can find the specifications for the pins on the back, and the common data structures used commonly back then, with AOL keywords like "micro-sd" and "jpeg"

Uhh, I think we have a bona fide flat from good old Earth here, think some corpo boss thawed one for a plaything and didn't bother to bring it up to speed or something?

Sheesh I just realized this guy probably doesn't even have basic biomods! I can't even imagine what he's interfacing with.
