I'm looking for a case that has up to 340mm of GPU clearance, a dark tint or solid side panel, with out the back compartment and PSU shroud you see on a lot of cases. I would prefer something with the normal ATX style lay out of PSU mounted on the top but bottom is fine as long as there's no shroud.
Ive only found micro ATX cases and discontinued ones.
I also want straight air flow. So front intake rear exhaust, bottom intake top exhaust.
Suggestions?
I really prefer how nicely managed cables look compared to hidden cables.
I think computers like pic rel look way better than normal say nzxt h500 clone with armored mobo, GPU, aio.

Rule of thumb is generally just match frequency and CAS latency, subtimings too ideally but not as big a deal.

4 sticks of single rank isn't that far behind but it wont always be as simple compatibility wise.

I have an RX 6900 XT, connected to my 1080p 144 Hz monitor via DisplayPort. One minute, it was working fine, the next, it stopped. Now, only HDMI works. If I plug the DisplayPort cable in, Windows detects it as a 720p 60 FPS monitor, but when I select the DisplayPort input on my monitor, it just says "No signal."
I plugged it into a different monitor (4K) via DisplayPort, and it works, except it only goes up to 30 FPS for some reason.

0) make sure your workspace is a hard flat surface, preferably wood or stone (DO NOT use a staticky plastic table -- it could be fine, but why risk it?), and make sure you have room to move around it, or if you're big enough, to pick up and move the case around to see things from all angles

1) open everything and make sure it's in good condition before you start assembling anything. check for screws and motherboard standoffs with the case, make sure the PSU isn't bent in or damaged, make sure you have all your PSU wires, etc etc

2) install the power supply first, and route the necessary wires where you will need them

3) go ahead and install the CPU and RAM into the motherboard before you install the motherboard into the case. you can install the CPU cooler if it's a stock cooler but if it is a bigass tower cooler or CLC then wait until you get the board mounted in the case

We dug deeper and specifically tested random write performance across a wide range of sizes and uncovered that the SN770 barely loses much performance with a larger data area—it's almost like magic. What's astonishing is just how much better WD's algorithms work—300K IOPS in a test where other DRAM-less drives get 30K IOPS, so 10x as high—no wonder this drive is fast. I only wish everybody could learn more about the secret sauce and license it for their own controllers—it would start a revolution for SSDs, making DRAM cache chips obsolete for all but the most high-end designs. However, I'm quite positive that WD is keeping this a closely guarded secret, so they can sell more of their own product, which is well-deserved, of course

It's more like $50-100. My old shitbox SATA SSDs do fine for any of my tasks.

According to this it's read speeds that matter for Direct Storage. Does write speed affect gaming at all?

the short answer is no, not right now, but it may not always be that way

write _latency_ absolutely can affect frame pacing in games like Elden Ring where the game is constantly overwriting your save

but Unreal Engine 5 is also bringing back virtual texturing, which id software called "megatexture", and that game typically used a texture cache which it was constantly updating—that game's textures were low-enough resolution that it worked even on the PS3 HDD, but future UE5 games may want faster SSDs, particularly in terms of latency

it's also possible that people might, y'know, copy games around, or just move files around—I sure prefer when my files copy between SSDs at > 2GB/sec and not sub-SATA speeds
