Anyone here design their own PCBs and cases? that's something I would like to try but haven't gotten around to it yet because I'm borderline retarded
so I built a 60% keyboard with aluminium case and I did put a foam for the case but the keyboard still feels and sounds hollow when typing, should I add another foam layer to the case+get a pcb foam?
>>88011032Normally when I put a foam for my case, I make such that there is enough to where it becomes compressed by the fixture you're applying it to. This sandwiching allows the pcb foam or case foam to absorb sound best. This is keeping in mind things like two-piece, cnc'd, aluminum top mount, but even if this isn't your board foam can still go a long way. If it's tray or o-ring gummy mount, pouring liquid silicone and letting it rest to become more firm, is a good option if you do your homework.
>>88011032foam in-between the plate and PCB made the biggest difference for me with my tofu60
>>88011032foam is a meme and anyone who claims it makes a difference is experiencing placebo
is there a significant difference between cherry and OEM profile keycaps? I found few gmk clones in cherry profile that I would like to get for a couple new builds, I basically only used OEM profile all my life (except my laptop keyboard), and my concern is it would be weird typing on cherry profile but most people say its pretty much the same and I tend to think that too because the profile is almost the same but I just want to be sure.
>>88009392what is this keyboard
>>88012347Cherry is pretty much just shorter OEM.
>>88009084fag lol
>>88009392>blue switchesit's gonna sound like shit. very poor choice. I have the red switch version of that keyboard (c1) and used it for a long time with a few mods, so the keeb itself is good but those switches are gonna be awful
>>88012230nah there's definitely a difference it's just not major
>>88012519Can confirm. I bought one with blue, thing gives me a headache.
>>88012502No my serial number starts with FCG, alas I couldn't find a P99c with a FAG serial though I am still looking. They are out there lol
Why does the stupid Vial website say to put VIAL_ENABLE in rules.mk when you aren't supposed to? I had to go to their stupid discord to find this out ffs.
>>88009510why is kde like this? I've never been able to use it for 5 min without encountering bugs with the most basic use, and I've tried like 6 or 7 times the past decade
>>88007906Just bought GMMK 2 (Needed full size).Shipping was pricey (from EU), but after using cheap mechanical keyboards - this is just something else.Comes pre-lubed, stabilization is excellent, linear-keys with red, fox switches - very quiet, I can't even hear typing on my DT770, and without its just very satisfying sound.Regular ESC keycap replacement for orange one is included. It weighs a lot lol (probably aluminum), overall - very well made.
>>88007906DOES THE META KEY OPEN YOUR INSTAGRAM? LMAO
Does any legitimate version of this layout exist? I'm not too keen on the idea of "havit" switches. This in wireless with hotswap would be my perfect keyboard i think. Maybe make the top bezel a little thicker to add volume roller.

>>88014483oh wait, its on aliexpress..i wonder if its really the keyboard though...
>>88012407Keychron C1 non backlight version, cheapest keyboard they make AFAIK.>>88013151Honestly it usually works fine, this is the first time I've had it pull some bullshit like that.
>>88014461RK's stuff is solid, some consider it on the lower end of quality due to its entry level price point but I've had one for years without issues. They also seem to be the only one in town to come up with tons of wireless and hotswap options for many layouts which is cool.

>>88020590>I'm going to get myself a Ducky One 3 full size because of that $120 price tag. This really sounds like a joke. Building a split keyboard (Lily58, 58 keys) and I want advice for the keycaps and switches I should get:Currently have a Logitech G610 with cherry brown switches. It's good.Things I like:Switch feel when typingThings I don't like:Surface of the switch gets shiny quicklySwitches I am considering:Gateron browns, because people say the click isn't as scratchy as on the cherry, and they have about the same weight as my cherry brown.Keycaps I am considering:£15 blank PBT keycaps from AliExpress, because the ones with printed letters have an awful font and the texture should be nicer than my Logitech.Advice?
