AAC is only good with iphones and macs because of the way apple handles bit rate packages, it effectively delivers 500kb/s, while android and windows only do 250 or so.

Apple pulls it off decently but that's it. If you're into that kind of stuff you can use a homebrew android OS and force SBC XQ, which is better than aptx hd and retrocompatible with all sbc headphones.
>>
http://soundexpert.org/articles/-/blogs/audio-quality-of-sbc-xq-bluetooth-audio-codec

>It turned out that almost all modern BT headphones, speakers, receivers ... support SBC bitrates up to 730 kbit/s just out of the box. And that patch (SBC XQ) helps to encode BT audio on Andriod smartphones at the following bitrates:

Ok after listening music with them for a few hours I must confess that they aren’t as bad sounding as I first thought, but they’re still not what I would consider a true upgrade for someone that previously owned the T2’s. The Etymotic are amazing to listen to electronic and rock music, but the T2’s are better for listening to other genres of music.

I feel like the Etymotics would benefit a lot from being connected to a dac. It feels like my iPhone alone isn’t able to truly extract the true power of these things.

do you use your iems when exercising? is it that bad for them?
>>
>>86933764
I have used them for certain exercises at home, wouldn't use them while doing something that requires awareness of your surroundings like swinging kettlebells or running. I doubt it's bad for the IEMs, but maybe some BA drivers won't be able to handle quick movements and shocks as there are some BA's that are marketed as being able to resist damage from this better than others.
If you want to be safe with most exercises then go for dynamic drivers only and use wireless with passthrough, real open back in-ears, or earbuds with silicone rings so they'll say in your ear.

The thing that I’m hating the most about the etymotics right now is the fact that I have to increment the volume of my phone up to 70% of its full capacity to get some decent sound clarity. At a volume of 50%, the sound of the etys is so low despite the fact that they’re inserted as close to my brain as possible.

very nice, i have thought about doing the same thing, i have an as16 that i dont use. in my picture i converted ha-ae5t that i got for 40 bucks at a local place. it came with some interesting tips that ill share later. this iem has a 6mm dd, produces some nice thick bass and great highs. only issue is that it's completely unvented, so i have to squeeze a small wire covering in between the tip and the nozzle for some ventilation, otherwise it's vacuum hell.

For in ear listening doesn't it make sense to only listen to binaural stuff (recorded with one of those dummy head contraptions)?
I have speakers, over ear and several pairs of iem. And honestly I prefer them in that order, even though technically I can hear much more with in ear.
Is binaural mastering even a thing?

which one bros
the braided aesthetic of the third one is alluring me, but i'm afraid of getting chinked due to so few orders to get reviews from
sure they are all cheap basic stuff but it turns quite expensive after conversion to my local currency (setting it to usd lets me buy slightly cheaper rather than directly from my currency)
>>
>>86939628
Yes some binaural tracks are still being produced, however since the dummy head won't be exactly the same as your head it still won't sound exactly as if you were sitting in the room when it was recorded. Also binaural recordings are pretty rare so you'd have a fairly limited library.
Another solution is to use a personalized HRTF with certain software, which can simulate a more speaker like presentation. This won't be perfect either, but it'll give you a much bigger variety of music to chose from.

Somewhat DIY measuring of your own personalized HRTF:

They are a little "duller", if you found the original to be a tad too boomy or bright, this one has the same overall signature but slightly attenuated.
>>
>>86939781
I got two pairs from the left one, people say the blue cable ones have better QC, I bought blue unknowingly because they seemed cute. They aren't as cute IRL but they work just fine.

On the other hand people swear by VE so any choice is fine.

The hackmd has some budget foam tips listed you could try. Depending on what kind of texture you want out of the foams you may want something that isn't listed like Dekoni foams or New Bee foams, but if you just want to try out foams for the first time then maybe try the tennmak ones or something.

check venture electronics ali page, they offer CX31993 (abigail) and Realtek ALC5686 (avani), they look nice. Also it seems they have some uhh promos or something with their earbuds line, maybe u can get a small discount.
Personally I'm satisfied with the left ones (blue cx31993) but I might buy an avani later with some VE buds.
>>
>>86941620
you're right, just started properly researching into it and they do have a very nice looking build
apparently this is an improved cx-pro in both durability and tuning then? i did find one or two disagrees, but for the most part people seem to agree
also it seems they refuse to send the dongle separately now, right?
honestly not a big deal, found a place outside ali where i can get the abigail+monk plus without shipping fees, making it cost about the same as the other options
thanks again for the heads up, guess i'm switching plans to give this one a go

all iems have a significant degree of tinnitus due to eqr canal resonance

…didn’t he tune dusk before he found out about vk4? could be possible for CRN but idk. I genuinely believe the dude when he says he got chink’d by KZ.

It wouldn’t surprise me if KZ sold one of their discontinued drivers to QKZ and then halted because of how popular it was getting + crinacle collab. So they put in a similar driver and QKZ had nothing but shitty EDX rejects. since they can’t tune for shit even WORSE than kz They’re basically irrelevant now

Hello,

I didn't come here for advice, today.
I came here a few times before, looking for iems that didn't fall off my ears when I was working out, like the BL03s I first bought did.
After those, I had some Moondrop Arias (bad tuning, bad QC, kept shocking me everytime they touched my skin), and some Tripowin Meles (good tuning, bad QC, the connectors bent BADLY after putting them in my pocket once).

I just wanted to thank you guys for the recommendations and advice, I finally found some iems I'm satisfied with.
I got some BL05S with a TFZ cable - I was unsure if they'd fit, but they do - and they work well.

Thanks, pardners.
