seems I cant use my second monitor on linux.
VGA is disable on last kernel update.

CRTards btfo!!!!!!!! oh wait, they use rca cables. nvm lol
>>

C'est pas le noyau, c'est le driver iGPU de AMD.
Y a probablement un paramètre de noyau pour changer ça, mais ça doit demander une recompilation du noyau.
Flemme de vérifier.
>>
>>84471102
well, seems I cant use linux.
>>

just.... buy a hdmi/dp cable? if your graphics card doesnt have enough ports, then upgrade. if your monitor doesnt support them, then upgrade.
>>

already have it.

Is the only output that works now.
cant use my second monitor which uses the vga port.
>>
>>84471143
theres probably adapters, idk. although, im sure that the monitor has already paid for itself since i assume you bought it a decade ago. its time to move on
>>

there's only one HDMI output.

Both the VGA and the other output doesnt work.

They used to work and they work on windows.
>>
>>84471176
if you want to be stubborn, then you can downgrade your kernel. updates dont really matter, they just add support for hardware that you will probably never use anyways
>>

The AMD devs are clearly plants to fuck up open source. Back in 2013, you could run full screen anti-aliasing on a good performing 3d fully open AMD driver. They have since removed the option to force it. Instead the devs say its the programs fault. So instead of them re-enabling an option they had and every other driver has, they expect you to, on a case by case basic, go around getting every game and program to implement the option. They also give you half assed joke attempts like that jiminez bullshit.

seriously, the amd 3d driver team is fucking infiltrated and has been for 8 fucking years now.
>>
>>84471293
servers arent running the latest kernels, they literally dont care about whats going on with linux
>>
kernel 5.15 also fucked up standby on lots of machines, and the new ntfs driver is missing the stuff to make it usable from the GUI
>>
>>84471344
yeah but what happens when they decide to upgrade? a decision like this SHOULD NOT be made unless there is some catastrophic reason why vga cant be used anymore, which is not the case......
>>
>>84471367
why would they upgrade? theres businesses still running prehistoric operating systems. wanna know why? cause they do everything that needs to be done. if they want to put in the costs to upgrade, then they will shell out cost money to upgrade hardware as well

>a distro's precompiled kernel drops support for absolutely ancient hardware
Linux still supports 486 CPUs and just updated support for them with the latest kernel release. VGA is still used and is the most common video connector in the poorer parts of the world.
This is not related to kernel configuration, there is no magic setting that enables AMD VGA support.
> you only really need to upgrade kernels when you need a specific feature or fix
Or you know when security updates happen and your old kernel is vulnerable. But oh wait you know literally nothing about security because you're a wintoddler. Take a guess how I know that you also don't update your BIOS.

I honestly think ubuntu LTS is the closest to ideal, but someone that needs adobe or autodesk etc. probably wouldn't think that way. macOS is much better than windows but fuck having to buy dongles for everything, and distros like arch are straight up hobbyist territory with how often they push out potentially breaking changes. some people have no choice but to live in the land of shit that is windows 10, even if the idea that it "just works" is right out of fucking fantasyland

Roll back since you don't have to use the newest kernel?
Make sure to report the bug since you are literally integration testing it.
If you want to actually use linux, get some stable EL distro with security backports?
