A $140 MSRP graphics card for $300 as a "black friday deal".This market is a fucking joke.
It is barely even better than my gtx 960 2gbit seems impossible for me to upgrade right now but there is no point anyway when the only cards available is shit like this
shit I bought 1060 6 for like 450-500 I forget, back in the day of course
>>84468328we will never go back to normal, won't we
>>84468328You better take it because it's never gonna get any better.$450 is the hard minimum for entry level now, but it's not even a waste of money, gpus retain their value so you can sell it in a few years and upgrade it without losing your initial buyin cost.
>>84468389You got the sweet coronabux, what did you expect? But muh gibz.
>>84468328get a gaming laptop with a 1650 inside
>>84468328first of all, >>>/v/second of all >>84468404is right, blockchains are here to stay and if you can't afford the value of the card you don't get a card you stupid gamer
>>84468389We will when ETH2.0 launches. But given their track record it does not seem likely to happen until 2023.
>>84468485You are stupid if you think there isnt gonna be a hard fork with everyone still mining 1.x coins.
>>84468465Mobile 1650 is roughly half as powerful as the desktop version, it's comparable to a 1030
>>84468517a 1030 is really fucking good then damn. I have a 1650 and it's enough for literally everything
>>84468524not halo infinite
>>844685241080p sub-60fps gaming on medium is ok for you?
>>84468499What, and have it go the same way as ethereum classic with ludicrously high transaction fees?Sure it will probably happen but I’ll put money on it that it will turn into a shitcoin overnight with no value and hence miners will cash out and sell their used and abused cards to desperate gamers for MSRP.
When are they gonna start making APUs with good performance again? Something like an RNDA 2 with 11 CUs.
>>84468547Yes. I never had more and therefore don't need more. I am not even going to try 4k or above 60fps because it would make me CONSOOOOOM
>>84468596APUs are hard limited by your ram latency. There's a reason dgpus use their own specially wired ram buses clocked to more than 10000MHz.The gt1030 which is normally gddr5 got a secret ddr4 version and it cut performance by 70%.
>>84468467>scam tech fad that the SEC just started regulating is here to stayshut up retard
>>84468667Nah, it's fine. APUs usually do reward those extra CUs. Memory is also a bottleneck but just as often, it's the CUs.btw even just your normal desktop memory is much faster than the DDR4 version of the 1030.
>>84468328The price on those is arbitrary, they just had some and chucked them up for sale. A 7nm 1050ti would be like a handful of mm2. Shit I figured this all out when tsmc 7nm density came out and a 1080ti rehash(without wasting 49% of the die on RT and tensor) would be like 200ish mm2 I can't remember the exact figure. You know, the kind of card that's profitable to sell at $199.More so than cryptofags the problem was shilling computers to consolefags who belong Infront of their TV. reddit and YouTube are mostly to blame. Zoomers and younger cannot look at some information and draw a conclusion they are confident in. They won't look at their keyboards pcb and say oh yeah I can desolder this or look at their computer and think damn that looks fucking easy to assemble. They need to be told that it's okay to do something like that by a source that they think is authoritative(determined by views I guess) and even then they'll go around asking the same question 500 times. It's not until something reaches a critical mass of acceptance that they will do it without the blessing of a YouTuber. Playing games on desktops and assembling them has reached that critical mass.According to my son essentially every single boy in his school wants a ryzen and rtx. You can buy actual computer parts are best buy. They used to only sell what today is essentially a gt730, maybe a power supply. It's over, you gotta pay money kids can't compete with but you only get products made for kids for that money. The 2080ti and 3090 were fucking pathetic. at least the 7900xt is about 3x as fast, 4090 ~2.4. these pieces of shit still can't do 4k 120.
>>84468786lmao, no, Best Buy has always sold computer components. They'd never lower the price on some things, which meant you'd see a Geforce 6200 on the shelf for $100 right next to a 9600 for $150, but still, they've always sold modern components.
>>84468517What the fuck is wrong with you retard? Wh yare you lying out of your ass? The laptop 1650 is equally powerful as the desktop 1650. You are thinking of the 1650 max-q which is still faster than a desktop 1050. Imbecile
>>84468865Yes, they did. They sold Nvidia fx5200's which were about as fast a pentium 4 igpu and a handful of other garbage. some ram and psus. They didn't sell ati 3850s and 3870s. No motherboards or cpus. by 2011 they still basically only sold cards that were good for rendering a web browser and they had some shit like Corsair 120mm aios.
>>84468389Assuming supply ever catches in demand, we will see a return to prices close to MSRPBut higher cost of goods in general is here to stay; ever since Nixon eliminated the gold standard, inflation has gone up every decade, never down
>>84468906No they sold pretty much everything. You just didn't notice because they'd rarely restock. And they'd never put older models on sale so they'd rot on shelves for years, giving you the impression that the only thing they stocked was old stuff. But if something new came out then they usually did stock it, and they'd stop restocking after only six months, emptying the shelves of that still current GPU or mobo.
Welcome to the 2020s.You will not travel. You will not repair anything. You will not own anything. And most importantly, you will not question anything.

>>84468961Who's preventing you from traveling?
>>84468958Dude I don't know which best buy you went to but mine absolutely did not sell anything worth buying short of some mice. At all. Lived in that store. Nearly every single teenager today wants to put together a computer for gaming, all of the zoomers at work do and I do manual labor. It has reached a critical mass that in turn ruined everything.

>>84468404Is this true?Should I start investing in GPUs as a store of value that only appreciates over time?
>>84468903At this point, beggars shouldn't be choosers. Either they pay up or just sit it out.
>>84468328my friend sold me that graphics card for like $30 a year ago when she got a rx 570
>>84469712No, you should have started last yearGPUs are back in stock, their prices have stayed the same for a while now, with a slight downward trend.
>>84469743Your faggot boyfriend will never be a woman.
I got my rx560 for $80 in January, now its being sold for $300.
>>84468961Might you be a Time traveler?
>>84469048>Nearly every single teenager today wants to put together a computer for gamingthey're going to be in for a lot of disappointment.
I felt like a tard when I bought a bought a 5700xt for $380 back in may of 2020.The card has payed for itself 3 times at least from mining ETH when my pc idles.
>>84468328It seems like I'm keeping my 750 Ti until 2050
>>84470132Did you account for all the electricity you stole from your parents house?
>>84468328I picked up an rx5600xt for 300 euros 2020 February. Good, it was a good time to buy
>>84468933Nvidia has no interest in selling budget cards
>>84470365What happens in 2050?
>>84468328> $140These cards should be < $100 by now
Lmfao before covid, I got the 1050ti and the 1650 for less than that. Both costed me 288 together.
>>84468389No. Supply of many cards is okay now. I look through online retailers and see loads in stock. They're just at double the price they're supposed to be. Companies have had a taste now of what people are willing to pay, and they're not going to go back down to MSRP (or anywhere near it) unless sales literally stop entirely. I predict we'll see a drop of ~25% at most from current pricing, which will be hailed as a win for gaymers and tech "journalists" will tell you to buy NOW NOW NOW. Then the next generation wil come along with much higher MSRPs to stop people bitching about cards costing more than they're "supposed" to.
>>84470785Have you foreseen your death?
All jokes aside, why wouldn't someone go with an M1? You can run Windows/Linux in VM and while it's no /v/irgin machine, it'll get the job done for what it is. At least with M1 you're paying MSRP and getting a great value compared to paying $300 for a $140 card, not to mention everything else alongside it.
So searching for a good deal on a video card this year would be stupid right?
>>84471097>searching for a good deal on a video card this year would be stupidIn the past, people have been fortunate with bots or standing in line at Best Buy or Micro Center. I'm unaware if those strategies are still viable.
>>84471086>discussion about pricing on graphics cards intended for video games>but why don't you buy this piece of shit that is complete garbage at the use case being discussed?Because it's complete garbage at the use case being discussed, that's why not.
>>84471097Depends on if you have all day to sit around and watch price alerts. I've gotten 23 cards this year for MSRP or very close to it, mostly from Amazon and mostly 3060 Tis and 3070s (plus four 3060s, one 3070 Ti and one 3080). But you need to order within seconds or they're gone.
>>84471187You're clearly too stupid for /g/ if you think the M1 is 'garbage', but if you think paying a markup to play video games is fine then your manchild brain is too fried to reason with already.
>>84471197What do you need 23 graphics cards for?
>>84470597I stole it, so it's free (as in free beer).
>>84468389Nope, inflation and increased overseas labor costs means everything imported will cost twice as much as it did 10 years ago to produce. People have this glimmer of hope that US fabs might solve this but they forget that bob and sally want $20/hour to assemble 100 laptops per day (assuming they'll be able to).Mexicans are our best bet but they're probably too busy hiding from the cartels on a daily basis.
>>84468328It's not a bad deal when you consider the card works for you when you're not making heavy use of it.
>>84468485so you think everyones going to throw their mining gear in the trash when ethereum switches? they'll just move to another shitcoin and then spam on the internet how it's going to the moon to try and get people to buy into their pyramid scheme.
Hopefully intel gpus solve the low end gpu cost
I was annoyed by the GPU pricing, but it totally made sense when I started mining. ROI on tons of cards hovers around just 6 months or so, and even after the ETH difficulty bomb things like Ergo, Ravencoin, etc will just absorb the hashrate, probably go up in value, and we'll just keep chugging. Gamers are pretty cucked, imagine making a big investment just to use it to consoom and buy more shit. Funny thing is, if most gamers mined in their fucking sleep and when they aren't using the machine, they'd profit enough to be able to easily buy a new card every year, even with these prices, but they're so diametrically opposed to miners that they will just spend that year shitting themselves screaming when they could easily just have their new shiny consoomer hardware basically for free by now, even with these prices. If you have a midrange 10-series card/480 or above, and you've been waiting a year for prices to go down, you're a fucking fool who could have gotten something way better by now solely based on what you already have. But noooo, these are consumption devices and consumption devices only! Spend money to spend more money! Kys.
>>84471374or the kikes can cut their profits?
>>84471847This. This is the way. US needs to control it's own production lines, with high wages and a strong lower class.
>>84468328>goes to newegg and looks at a product not sold by newegg but some 3rd party>complains about the pricethis is your average 'pc gamer'
>>84471810>a forced doubling of purchase cost is ok because of these useless ponzi scheme digital codesCrypto is an extreme waste of resources and the only money you make is taken from fools. It's low IQ to even support the concept.
You're better off buying a prebuilt.
>>84468328how much can i sell y 1070ti and 1080 ti for right now? i got them new for $500 and $780 4 years ago
>>84471810lol, it would take over 200 days for any real card to 'pay for itself'. Anyone who buys a $1000+ GPU just to mine in order to pay for it a year after you've bought it is a boneified absolute fucking retard.
>>84471966But they would still have a card while you do not.
>>84468328Op don't be stupid be a smarty come and join the loot party
>>84472031Never do this. California has an extremely advanced secret surveillance network.
I bought mine a few years ago and I've been mining passively when not using my pc. the card has paid itself off 10 times over.
>>84472047LMAO yeah they surveil the person getting away and then they drink more wine and ignore the issue.
>>84472031How do you steal when all the GPUs are locked behind a panel? Break the panel? Now you're charged with destruction of property. Steal it from someone who just bought one? Now you're charged with assault.
>>84468328I bought a 3060 TI and been mining with it for months while also using it for gaming. One of the best decisions I made, already ate through almost 1/3 of the cost and the sell price increased since then.I can just keep it running until I'm in full profit.

>>84472070California is an organized crime network disguised as a state.
>>84472083Yo, just have 50 niggas roll up to the store in 10 BMWs and do a massive smash and grab taking everything that's not nailed down and shooting anyone that gets in your way, then hightail it out before the cops get there. Ain't nobody gonna try and pull some vigilante shit on you neither because there's 50 armed niggas in the store that can put a cap in yo ass. Just like the Louis Vitton smash and grabs in LA. Go raid a Microcenter or a Frys or some shit. Hell, go raid an Amazon warehouse. You only need 50 niggas, not that hard.
>>84472458people can't wrap that around their heads no matter how many times you spell it out. they are criminals in every sense of the word, but it doesn't register no matter how much you say it. people are programmed to only think criminal=street level thug. until that changes, everyone will be fucked.
>>84468328My GTX 970 died mid last year, the timing couldn't have been more perfect to fuck me over. My CPU was old too so I eventually decided to settle for a 5700G so I could at least play SOME games instead of opting for anal rape by scalpers or miner cunts. The problem is that I don't have PCIe 4.0 support, 8 less PCI lanes and half the L3 cache, which means any graphics card I put in is gonna get fucked and I'll get ~15% less FPS than with a standard CPU. It pisses me off, but I'm not going to buy a card. Fuck that.

>>84472631Why do people shill this thing so much? It has LPDDR5, a gimped form with less bandwidth than PC modules. It has 8 CUs, not the full 12 that Rembrandt will have. It will be low power with a TDP configuration of 10w, similar to the Switch. All that added together, and you're not getting performance any better than what current PC APUs can output, not to mention that if you tried to mirror it to an external display, it doesn't even boost or clock up to make it better. You're basically getting a sub-PS4 experience, minus the tight optimizations consoles get. He wants a PC card for a PC gaming experience. Not a handheld.
>tfw you bought a 1080ti in 2017 for MSRP at basically the exact moment before crypto ruined gaming forever

The image you showed is for nicehash, a piece of software where you mine the most profitable thing your card can, and get paid in BTC regardless of what that is.
>>84474717Adding on to my last post ( >>84476237 ), the price of most crypto could go down the shitter and it may very well mean nothing assuming the difficulty also does. Then when the 5700 XT came out, I ordered one, returned the 1070 I previously "traded" in the 5700 XT box, and Amazon once again gives me my money back in exchange. >>84476331It showed $2 a day for the 1070ti and $2 a day for the 6700xt I just used whatever default settings, adjusted the power cost to .$0.135, and let it sort through all of the coins.I can't imagine the supreme waste of time juggling 15 cryptos for $2 a day just get a 2nd part time job at that point and shovel all that money into buying them.
It's cheaper to buy prebuilts rip the GPU out and sell everything else on ebay. some $1400 system with a 3060Ti will still cost $200-300 less than the market prices after shipping and ebay fees.I work with a guy who bought a PS5 for $1200. How are "team red" builds nowdays? Thinking of grabbing an AMD build since I hear their GPU and CPUs work together. Are they alright for game emulation? I love emulation of all kinds, be it N64 or PS2. Back in the day Intel used to be great for emulation but what about now?

>>84484896If all you really care about is emulation, then you can just get some dingy 5600G, forget the graphics and have a go with even PS3 and Switch emulation no problem, at least for the games that the emulator has compatibility with so far. If you want to go above and beyond the original specs of the emulator (eg 60 fps hacks on games that were never meant to run that speed), then Intel still has an edge. Xenia, the Xbox 360 emulator needs a stronger GPU than what an APU can provide due to the weird way the devs programmed it, but the compatibility is trash and it's not worth using for nearly any game basically, so it's not an issue.
I sold my 1050 ti for $250 and I'm playing with a 1050 2gb. I got like 700 saved, waiting for the 1050 to hit a hard wall. So far I can play MH Rise at med settings.
