How do you feel about pastel colored keycap sets, /g/?
>>
>>84459557
Pastels were a really cool colour scheme especially if you were going for that cute aesthetic but now trannies appropriated them so you can't use them or people will think you're mentally ill.

Is the Evga Z15 any good? It's a hotswap board with speed bronze or silvers stock. Has high polling rate which is appealing to me. $40 on sale. I've been after a 100% board and was looking at coolermaster before

>>
>>84459742
This is peak dimwit take and a terrible strawman.
I don't feel threatened by it but say you liked the colour scheme and decide to wear it in public. You WILL be identified as a trans person if you do that or at least identified as an ardent supporter of them.
Imagine someone wearing something with a swastika on it because he likes the symbol's design, he'd be immediately identified as a nazi so naturally nobody, but nazis, do that. Do I feel threatened by 8 straight lines because some universally disliked group of people use them as a symbol? Answer that question yourself, retard.
I know vir/g/ins like you don't ever leave your basement but some of us do and giving people the wrong idea for no reason is a pointless endeavour.
The colour scheme IS a symbol and is widely accepted to represent a very specific thing and therefore I am NOT going to have anything in that colour scheme. How can something so simple be so difficult to understand for you?

Is there any 60 keyboard with 2 fn keys on both sides? I found this one but it has arrow keys and I would rather not have them. I want 2 fn keys so I can press button along with fn key with just 1 hand. I think I would prefer fn key to be on or near the edge of keyboard like Thinkpad keyboard but I can live with them being near the spacebar.

if you have a soldering irons splits cost next to nothing.
if you get an ortho look for one that had some space in the middle so your wrists will stay happy
there are some that have actual space between your hands like the lumberjack, you can also make your layout like picrel so your hands are seperated.
this is enough space to start being comfortable imo
i would 100% reccomend going with something split though, ortho or column stagger

can't recommend them enough really. I like them more than my alpacas, others have put them on the same level as alpacas. I didn't bother filming my jwicks and the factory lube job is excellent. considering how cheap they are I can't say enough good things about them.
the only negative thing I can say about the jwicks are that the left stems are pretty bendy but out of 150 switches none of them were broken. straightened a few bent ones with tweezers and they're a-ok, just make sure they're straight before stuffing them in your board.

Yeah, I'm not saying that it's bad stuff. Would honestly say that it's often some of the best stuff at the price point. Especially talking about the fake wood stuff here.
Just that it doesn't seem like something you would value on a more "emotional" level.

But yeah, for solid wood I got some Ivar shelves that are quite nice, the basic storage room look grows on you I feel. I also got a raisable desk of a solid wood(moddes a bit, not actually for that base), that seem sturdy enough. There is something were solid wood should definitely be your choice. Don't have to worry about the monitor stand clamps squeezing through it and such.

"Case" is included in the 27€. They are those sandwiched FR4(PCB material) ones. MCUs are more like $5 each, so $10.
Caps and switches are true that they are a cost which can not be avoided, unless you have some old keyboard to steal from.
There's also stuff like this (not fully split) which includes MCU, for 19£. Then you do need the case instead though. If you don't use it on just a piece of cardboard like I've seen some people do.

No idea, I don't really play games and don't have the keyboard. Some more gamery anon might have an input. I have a sofle in the mail atm though. Are you speaking about the Lumberjack or the Lily 58?

I don't think it would be any problems with any of them, as long as you don't need the function keys and can't use them in a layer. Since they both have numkeys you have all numbers readily available which can be a problem otherwise.
What people seem to do on the column staggered ones is to have a gaming layer where you right shift qwerty so you get a more comfortable position for aswd. Something like lumberjack obviously don't have that needed though.
They are both fully programmable as far as I know. The Lily on QMK, the other may use something else.

Note that you do have to solder them though. And if you don't like it you can probably resell it at a profit, or at least I would think so.

oem keycaps and easy-to-break costar stabs aside, it definitely feels cheaply made as if you'd want to replace the entire body with an aluminium one if that were possible.

not only do i take off all adjacent keys from now on, but for stabbed switches i use two keycap pullers, one on each side, and i weigh the keyboard down so i can have an even pull and not fuck up the stabs like i did on my micro 82 and kbd75.

>>84467192
oh hey manchild i can help you a bit
the xd75 will take a couple of days to get used to.
the absolute biggest annoyance is that when im running forward in cs and i want to switch to my pistol the button is right above my W.
its still absolutely reachable but slightly less easy compared to a staggered board.
the answer is its great for gaming and so far thats the only complaint i have at all with my experience with my xd75.
i have not had a single issue with dota either
>and I don't want to have to use layers
you're already using layers, look at shift, it literally shifts layer for your num row.
desu you'll adapt really quick as long as you're not going with something like a corne layout.
its not like you have to put more than like 8 keys on your layer or something atleast if you're going with something like the xd75
with the lilly it might be a bit more but still, itll be no issue

>>84470361
column stagger will not make gaming impossible at all but be ready to make some gaming layout changes
being able to adjust the space between, the angle and tenting angle (all proven to be better for you when done right) is absolutely worth atleast trying it.

>>84469693
theyre pretty great but theres a learning curve. people that say its bs dont even know google scholar otherwise they should be able to apply the logic behind them.
its no cure all for ergonomic issues, duh. that seems to be what some autists rage over and its cringe that i even have to explain this. its a fucking keyboard so its not gonna solve all your issues but if you are trying to get a more ergo setup this will be a good replacement for the traditional keyboard, its a no brainer.

i ordered 13 switches and put them all in my old 6gv2.
a couple of kailh linear clicky and tactile
a tealio
a gat brown and blue
and an nk blueberry
these looked like they were well spread across what you can expect from switches and that helped me narrow it down a lot.
would i reccomend you to get these switches ? probably not because these were the only available in low quantities. i would reccomend going to a seller (i used candykeys) and just order what you can to give a good representation.( this was around 10 euros for me, expensive for the switches i got but itll save you the money of a keyboard or bag of switches you dont enjoy
i would reccomend paying attention to just if you like linears, at what weight you like them
if you like tactile how big of a bump you want
afterwards id reccomend to look among brands like jwick akko jwk durock boba to find what fits your needs, these are amazing in quality but might be hard to get single keys of.
for clicky i reccomend just getting a gat or cherry blue, a kailh box jade and a kailh box white. the kailh clickies are my absolute favourites and they make it hard to enjoy mx style blues but i reccomend to still get one as theyre cheap and who knows. theres people with shit taste, chances are theres some among us.
( oh yeah you dont have to solder or mount the switches but it does help a lot for having correct feedback, enjoy my dust and dirt on the keeb thats my gift to all of you)
>>
I wasn't sure whether to ask this in /sqt/ or here, but semi-mechanical keyboards are probably close enough to the thread subject and you guys are probably more familiar with them than /sqt/.

I've always avoided mechanical keyboards because they make unique sounds and a trained ear (or a microphone with an algorithm) can hear which keys you press. Semi-mechanical keyboards are apparently a lot quieter; am I right to assume they aren't audio keyloggers like clicky mechanical keyboards are?

membrane keyboards i know nothing off.
i hear niz topre and hhkb are good keyboards and theyre quieter than your run of the mill cherry equiped board.
the quiet variety i mentioned of mx switches are incredibly quiet, i have zilents myself and this kinda switch is what i would bring into office

what's the deal with "rounded" tactile switches? i get what they are, but how do they feel?
>>
>>84471499
Sadly, while that's quieter than I'm used to for mechanical keyboards, that video (particularly 0:19 - 0:26) shows exactly what I'm talking about. The QWE, ASD and ZXC pressed have distinctly different pitches, and while it's more subtle, the Z, X, C and V also sound different from each other. (It's not just semi-random factors like the way it's pressed either; when he repeatedly presses the V the sound is consistent.)

>>84471436
>>84471550
It may be schizo to be worried about it as you need to specifically practice for the specific keyboard to be able to identify the keys, but it's definitely a thing.
>>
>>84471121
>>84471306
Thanks /g/ents. I might just go with a switch tester, since I don't have a hot-swappable kb to plug switches into to test, and raw-dogging it on my desk seems like a real shitty way to test.
>>84471306
The problem is I don't know where to start on any parameters (except no clicky). Been using Cherry MX Reds for a while and hating it, so I know I need either more force, tactile feedback, or both. But beyond that, no idea, so I think a switch tester will be best to start with, then I can narrow it down with individual switches.

the "9 Key New Tester" from this https://nl.aliexpress.com/item/1005001728325295.html page offers some nice switches, is mostly the nice inks for linears that will be very interesting. the t1 and h1 are also amazing switches.

>any object tapped in different places will make different sounds and i do not believe theres a keyboard in existance that doesnt do that.
Yeah, but some are worse than others, and typically mechanical keyboards are the loudest and very easily identifiable.

>if anyone is able to obtain sound that you dont want then your nitpicky keyboard sounds is not what you have to worry about
Actually, that's the whole problem: my home is dead silent. I'm the only one living here, I never talk (not even voice chat), I use headphones for everything...any device anywhere in the room would be able to hear my keyboard very clearly. There's nothing else that could leak, but at the same time that makes the keyboard sounds all the more distinct. If the keyboard can be quieter (or rather, not consistently louder) than what little background noise I have that's sufficient.
>>

How’s the shine resistance on ABS MT3?
>>
>>84475200
All ABS plastic will shine up mostly the same.
>>
>>84475200
It might take longer to shine up if only because the texture is rougher than other keycaps.

guys I'm new to this world
can someone fill me in on ducky availability in Europe? I want an RGB ducky but it's sold out on all sites
how often do big resellers restock? am I just shit out of luck and it happens randomly every few months?

A very good no-frills prebuilt for the price. It was my first real keyboard, and I still use it to this day.

It may not look like it in the picture, but the case is metal, not plastic. It's also quite heavy too

Aussie dollarydoos here. About $70 cheaper than the Q1.

So /mkg/, how disappointed will I be with this? Current daily driver keyboard is my RK84.
>>
>>84475892
I don't have an RK to compare, but the GMMK Pro is good. It is very "muted", which you may or may not like (I like it personally), and feels very well made.
The main issue people have with it is the stabilizers being sticky, but on mine (that I got a few weeks ago) they're completely fine. You can always clean out the stock stabs if needed (glorious has a how-to on their site), and it takes other types of stabs easily too.
>>
>>84475932
I plan to go with a silent build. Perhaps with Gat Black Silent Ink V2s.
>>
>>84475945
then I think it's a good choice. it almost doesn't resonate at all. I have gat pro yellows and only hear the bottom out, which isn't super loud even then, so with silent switches it should be very quiet.

listen to sound tests, find ones that sound nice
also look at the most popular/hyped switches
buy a hotswap and then buy like 3 switches of whatever interests you
switch testers normally dont have the good shit, and you only get 1 switch of each

i am looking at the AKKO MOD007 kit, it looks decent, only issue is that the plates dont fit the durock stabs like the gmmk pro did
they have put effort into machining bits out of the bottom case for sound reasons, i think it sounds better than both the pro and q1 stock

that said at this point im leaning towards the gmmk pro cause of popularity, stabs and software

First of all, you're a fag.

Secondly, the GMMK Pro is on sale right now from PCCG. $199 AUD for barebones keyboard kit, $25 for Gateron Red Pro Switches (90 or so) and $25 on some cheap gay pink keycaps and you have a decent kit there.

For the latter two items, have a look at AliExpress and you'll find a plethora of cheap shit to buy there.

what is it about mechanical keyboards that draw so much hate from people who just don't understand
>>
>>84478177
I don't hate, but I have a membrane keyboard from logitechand I have a clickety mechanical keyboard, the ducky one.
I use the logitech. I tried the mechanical keyboard out. Bought the one that clicks, MX blue I think, it feels like a fucking toy. Just doesn't feel right. It sounded nice through video but the click feeling just sounds fake.
Membrane keyboard just does the job, it's simple, comfy, and I can type fast with it without it feeling weird.
Id be happy to try another mechicanical keyboard out one day, but MX blue is just not for me.
>>
>>84478274

>>
>>84478298
Logitech G213
I don't have a lot to compare it with, my previous keyboard was an old flat keyboard, felt horrible.

Fuck, I should have known it.
Anyway, I have the intention to get myself a split keyboard one day.
I'm focused on productivity, so I just want something that can make me type faster, and apparently those are great for that purpose.
>>
>>84471727
just buy a nice keycap set for now, like akko's on amazon or somethin, like your switches are fine unless you know you hate or love the bump/click

you can get a barebones mech keyboard down the road, but the keycap set would be an immediate upgrade if your corsair was like my friend's corsair mech keyboard

Yes. Chuck it in the bin and buy a proper keyboard instead of an ergotranny dilation apparatus.

put some foam wherever you can. get silent switches if you want a silent keyboard. cant sound hollow if its a fr4 construction as there isnt a hollow space, its an open space

What's the deal with cables used to join split boards? Can you replace this with any male to male headphone cable or are there specific specs to look out for? The one that came with my board is way longer than I need and keeping it bound and tidy is a bit of a pain
