Ah yes I loved waiting 3 minutes for my spreadsheets to load on that little guy
>>

Is it worth buying one if I'm planning to use it as a home server?
>>
>>83822190
Install a minimalist Gentoo on it and play games that run natively on GNU/Linux.
I can play Total War on my 2016 middle class Thinkpad this way.

jesus why do electronics costs so much less in 1st world? this piece is worth costs more in dollars after converting it from my 4th world currency
and that translates to almost 3 full months of median wage labour
>>
>>83822251
Overpriced
>>
>>83822186
Oh yeah, I was about to buy one. Tell me anon, is it good for hosting a shitty server?
>>
really they are great for a personal desktop, server or as an emulation machine but not much else. IMO a better value is a gaming laptop since you can disconnect it from your monitor and take it with you when you travel, and when you get home you can plug your laptop back in. If you wanted to do esports gaming for cheap for under 400$, you'd get a optiplex sff for 80$ and then buy a 1050ti for 300$.
>>
>>83822251
Holy shit if i'd be willing to pay that price I would buy an M1 Mac Mini and install Linux into it, nowadays Linux on M1 is running fine without wi-fi and GPU acceleation which is fine for running it as a server.
>>
>>83822351
It's even cheaper in the US
>>
>>83822398
You M1 shills are the most annoying fags on this board, no one cares about your aluminium foil laptop with a phone CPU.
>>
>>83822451
Seething x86let. I hate Apple, but you have to admit the M1 is amazing
>>
>>83822509
i'll admit no such thing it's a 40 watt laptop apu like any other, the only performance advantage it has is from being on 5nm before anyone else
>>
>>83822509
It's not "amazing", it's good in some use cases but still not competitive in most. The circlejerking fags who praise it as the most powerful cpu in the world right now are mentally disabled.

I have one of these as an always on machine and then have had a regular desktop for gaymes. But with work and life shit I didn't even turn on my regular pc for the entire summer, so no, I don't really need any more
>>
>>83823476
>superfish
boo hoo some preinstalled adware
don't tell me you use the OS that comes with the computer you buy.
just install loonix or do a clean install retard
>>
>>83823655
>t. CCP Government shill
>do a clean install retard
Doesn't make a difference, it's baked into the BIOS.

>boo hoo some preinstalled adware
You really don't think the Chink CCP Government haven't injected other malware and spyware hidden in the BIOS?
>>
>>83823688
>it's baked into the BIOS
Source(s):
Dude trust me

>You really don't think the Chink CCP Government haven't injected other malware and spyware
yes I think they did and not only on lenovo laptops but probably on every piece of hardware that is manufactured there that's why you do a clean install first thing after getting the computer
>hidden in the BIOS?
again no source but even if that was the case do you think chinese spyware could be worse than intel ME that every computer comes with?
if you care about spyware and privacy that much you still have options flash your laptop with libre/coreboot that way even if there is malware in the BIOS it's overwritten with a libre BIOS
>>
>>83823774

>Dude trust me
Even Jewnovo admitted it was baked into the BIOS, it's on their website.

>>Doesn't make a difference, it's baked into the BIOS.
>posts links to LSE not superfish
gg retard

>may run on certain Lenovo notebook systems that do not have a Lenovo preloaded operating system installed
>Lenovo has released a BIOS update to disable Lenovo Service Engine and a utility to remove services and files left on the system

And even after reading the articles you posted, LSE seems to just be a BIOS feature that had a vulnerability and not malware like superfish.
I looked at wikipedia and kaspersky blog articles about superfish and not once the word BIOS or firmware is mentioned in them.
It's not great as it supposedly sends data "once at first start-up" of the computer to lenovo but it's not as bad as superfish and you're yet to prove that superfish was embedded in the BIOS.

The best games typically run on iGPUs anyways. I say this as someone with a 2070S even (mostly gets used for encoding and CUDA workloads).

avoid the physical stores like saturn and mediamarkt at all cost

best option by far is to buy used on ebay or ebay-kleinanzeigen

What should be said is that private sellers on ebay and especially ebay kleinanzeigen can do pretty much anything to scam you. It's not too common but happens a lot with GPUs and modern PC parts in general
>>
>>83829874
Yeah I wouldn't order anything sight unseen off there, but I picked up a nice 1440p monitor off kleinanzeigen last night, the guy was happy to bring me up to his apartment and plug it in to show it worked etc. My Rewe German was surprisingly useful
>>
>>83830648
I also got a bike off there a few weeks ago and the seller drones on for ages about any tiny thing he'd noticed was wrong with it and then drew up a contract which we both signed lol. I like germans you cunts are kind of weird and nerdy but actually very friendly
>>
>>83829874
They added a secure payment system like on ebay. so in case of scam you can get your money back.
Had it happen to me as well, naively payed 150€ and package wasn't "arriving" even though i gave him the right adress. So i got ghosted and no chance of getting my money back. These days are over now.

I'm the original guy you replied to.
I use Hardwareschotte.de to compare prices, they have a more robust filter system and show more products / data per page than Geizhals. Literally like the difference between powerusers (HS) and consoomers/normies (GH).
I also use Mindfactory often as they have free shipping if you order between 0:00 and 6:00 (Midnight shopping) and their "DAMN" deals where they dish out great hardware deals and it's not even bad stuff. But I don't shy away from using other vendors as well if it makes sense. ALWAYS CALCULATE SHIPPING COSTS AS WELL, otherwise you might pay more than if you just bought it from one store outright if you're not careful.

If you're talking used hardware, see ebay and "ebay kleinanzeigen", the latter of which is a more local search centered around your Zip code and distances.

Another great tip for used parts and PCs are "junk" handlers or Recycling-Places (Wertstoffhöfe) where they might even give you the things for free (if you know the people).

Willkommen in Deutschland Brü, welche Stadt? Und warum 'Schland? Nur aus reiner Neugierde.

>>83829410
I know. The sole reason I don't buy cheap chink stuff. If I could get things cheap from outside the EU I'd push >>>/g/csg/ into the bump limit every hour all by myself.
