FAQ:
>Which version should I get?
>Where can I get the ISOs?
>What the fuck is an .svf file?
>What does LTSC 2019 have?
>How do I verify the ISOs aren't fake/infected?
>How do I activate Windows?
>How do I change to a different edition post-install?
>How do I disable backported telemetry in 8.1/7?
>What software do you recommend/should I install?
See paste. (your other unmentioned question is probably here, too)

>How do I debloat/debotnet Windows 10 1803-2004?
Offline (pre-installation): Optimize-Offline
Guide: https://rentry.co/mdl-optimize-guide
Online (live installation): privacy.sexy / wpd.app / W10Privacy / privatezilla
Don't mix offline & online tools with each other.

>Do I really need to debloat it?
If you had to ask, then no.

>Can you get the Ryzen scheduler on LTSC 2019?
No. Wait for LTSC 2022, or use SAC (semi-annual channel) editions.

>Can I upgrade to LTSC 2019?
Only from a previous LTSC build(s) w/o doing the upgradematrix hack in paste.

>Is Windows 10 2004/20H2 OK?
Only Education & Enterprise.

>I already run Windows 7, but don't want to clean install?
The non-LTSC installers can upgrade.

>Are homebrew ISOs safe to use (Gen2/Ameliorated)?
Depending on trust&rep, almost never. Most of the time these are unverifiable and unreproducible.

I mean even if I just type "python file.py" it works, but I'd prefer to just be able to type "file.py" as I could before. Half tempted to just uninstall py2 anyway since I don't use it much anymore though idk if it'll break dependencies for some older programs I use (EventGhost would be a big one that I know uses Python2 though it might be bundled with the program itself)

Overall I'm happy with it besides a few minor issues (some bugs in madVR, Python file association issues, no expanding folders in start, right click crashes explorer rarely) nothing enough to make me feel like reverting or installing some 3rd party tweak though. Also thought I'd hate the center-aligned taskbar/start at first but after giving it some time I think I actually prefer it this way now, it feels more natural for the eye to stay focused on the center of the screen than to be forced to drift to all the way to the left all the time yanno?

Only thing that bugs me is that the Shift+F10 shortcut they suggest doesn't actually work from within that menu to show more options immediately, you have to close it and then hit Shift+F10 while selecting the item in question.

I just mapped mid click to up+enter when this context menu is up to quickly show more options when needed though.

>>
>>83784294
Memory usage for modern Windows is kinda hard to mesure as Windows obfuscates what a process actully needs and instead counts all the memory a process has allocated regardless if it's active code.

Windows 10 in particular really uses about ~600MB before you start having active OS components running in swap.
>>
>>83786000
It's a type 1 hypervisor like ESXi. It has a different purpose than Virtualbox, where you VMs alongside a workstation where you work with the host OS mainly. If you use Hyper-V, the host OS becomes a parent VM, so you won't get full bare-metal performance and won't be able to run type 2 hypervisors efficiently. On the other hand, all your VMs should in theory perform better than on type 2 hypervisors.

You work mainly on your host OS while running VMs on the side = stick with type 2 hypervisors
You're dedicating the machine to running high performance VMs = use type 1 hypervisors

perhaps is possible to have a desktop gui on proxmox/unraid then enjoy the best of both worlds
based on the microsoft docs hyper-v encapsulates the whole system so basically your whole desktop is a giant VM and the hypervisor gui sends commands to the to the host kernel to spawn/destroy VM instances and reallocate RAM and CPU
in a way you can both use your desktop and still enjoy VMs however VT-x and AMD-v will not work for the desktop (but the host kernel can use it just fine)

Congratulations, you've discovered DRM. Also that question has nothing to do with Windows.
Anyway last I heard some specific capture cards with some specific chromecast revision could trick HDCP into letting you get a bit-perfect signal on a second output that you can encode. It's a lot easier to just torrent a web-dl, which almost all netflix series have, and record from that

>This 83790268 is where it can be changed
No. Wrong. Disabuse yourself of that notion. Diskpart and the command line have nothing to do with your issue. Everythings already right on that end. Your problem is that bios for some godforsaken reason has decided to list windows after the drive it's on. So you need to fuck around in your bios settings looking for a way to correct that. I don't know what all menus you got. Disabling secure boot may help. Might come down to just wiping bios to defaults.

I know Linux has versions of their OS you can boot from a disk or usb drive. Does such a thing exist for Windows?
If not, that means I would be forced to make a partition and install another version? Use a virtual machine?
>>
>>83791104
What I'm not hearing is "I've reset my bios to default settings. I've tried disabling secure boot. I've gone through every goddamn bios menu and clicked on the relevant entries to see if there's any sub menu I might have missed"

Your problem is that your bios is being dumb, and you've been unable to locate a very basic setting to correct it. You could google the model of your laptop to find a manual and see if you're missing any settings or if there is a more comprehensive reset available.

If you have absolutely exhausted those options, you can try using easybcd to relocate your boot files to your C partition and seeing if that makes any difference. Or install grub and see if your bios prioritizes that entry. Or memorize which keys to mash every time you reboot.
>>

What's the easiest way to modify the boot menu after installing W11 (the one that asks if I want to boot into W11 or W7 since I have partitions for each)

I used a tool called EasyBCD on Windows 10 but it doesn't seem to work anymore after installing Windows 11, and I would like to bypass this boot selection screen entirely (so I only boot to W7 when I explicitly choose to do so rather than asking me every time)

As long as it has a HDMI port I don't see why not. Obviously the resolution might not be great but it should work to some extent.

Also if it doesn't use HDMI but some older format like DVI or VGA or something you can probably still use it with an adapter.

Not sure if it called tablet-mode. The keyboard and trackpad are deactivated when this happens and the icons in the taskbar get a larger space in-between them.

What the hell am I missing with the taskbar on Windows 11? I know you can't ungroup tasks, which is completely stupid, but still.

I mean, let's say I have two windows of the same browser opened. If I click the icon in the taskbar, it doesn't split and ask me which one to choose. It just does nothing. It doesn't bring any of the windows into focus. The only way I can do it is holding alt+tab and seeing all my opened windows. But even then, it also shows me like 6 tabs as tasks. So even if I have just two windows opened, it still shows me like 8 tasks and it's even worse if I have other stuff opened.

Is there something I'm missing or am I just retarded (even though yes, installing Windows 11 at this point was probably retarded).

It's actually a pain in the ass to use it for normal desktop shit as for some reason certain consumer drivers are blocked from installing (certain Intel NICs and consumer AMD cards come to mind)
Things like directx have to be enabled through some desktop experience package

You can somewhat avoid the driver issues by manually installing inf files but it's really not ideal for GPUs

the pre-release win11 isos didn't have the tpm requirement. the real release win11 iso does. however, there's a registry hack that microsoft released themselves allowing you to disable the tpm 2.0 requirement. you can open a command prompt in the win11 installer and add it to bypass. or install win10 in a virtualbox, then do the registry hack in win10 and upgrade to win11 through win10 using their upgrade assistant.

Hey anons, looking for some general advice running LastOS XP (this modified version of XP after its EOL and the source code leak) -- what can you do with an XP machine on old hardware these days?
>>
Just had an update on my machine running LTSC 1809. 21H2 is going to be next year isn't it

yeah you can't recover anything if you change partition. this is why chrome is not portable, and thus completely shit

I can't help it. I think I'm going to switch over just because of the sounds

Yeah, the sounds are nice. I enjoy hearing the startup sound every time I turn on my pc.

how do I install windows 7 from usb? I flashed an iso from https://tech-latest.com/download-windows-7-iso/ but my laptop gets stuck at the "windows is loading files" screen... what do?
>>
>>83821648
Don't you need to slipsteam drivers for usb 3 into the installer before it'll work on modern systems ?
>>
>>83821776
I'm planning to install it on an acer c710 chromebook, which is from 2013 I think... does that count as "modern"? I've corebooted it etc. so I know write protection isnt the problem

>>
>>83820973

You can, they're just .wav files that you could easily copy from one to the other.

What is the best way to integrate Simplix updates into the Win 7 ISO? One way is to simply drag & drop ISO onto the update pack file and the second, longer way, is from that Nordek dude from the oszone forum involving using UltraISO. Which one shoud I use?
