Why won't it die already?
>>
>>82646822
It's very simple and more than enough to carry GODs chosen resolution (640x480 VGA 256 colors).

It just works

ITS OVER, oldfags
>>
>>82646822
Because it's cheap and it works.
>>
>>82646822
do you really need anything else for a local server terminal? I don't want to waste money or risk the problems of putting a gfx card with displayport into a server that I will only even plug a monitor into once a year
>>
>>82646822
it's not on my main display or GPU but its on all my other old shit.
it'll be gone soon.
>>
>>82647173
Looks like the VGA socket burned off

it has a header and comes with a vga cable that you can optionally attach to a pci slot. no cpu support needed either (obv since threadrippers don't have graphics built-in)

Cope boomer fag. Your time is up.

The retardation in this post if off the charts!

i still use vga, nothing wrong with it
>>
>>82646822
You have to wait a few more budget cycles for schools, universities and government bodies to replace old projectors.

Not everyone is an uber 1337 g4ym3r with six 9K 57" monitors. There are millions of boring office PCs with VGA monitors and no reason to replace the monitors themselves. As recently as October Dell were still selling VGA monitors.

the latest gen of gpus finally killed it though right? dvi is gone too I think

workstation boards aren't representative of consumer hardware trends.
i bet we'll be seeing them on servers and rack KVMs for the next 15 years minimum
>>
>>82648193
Nope. Still exists on enterprise laptops.
>>
>>82648441
I thought I heard somewhere that AMD was removing support for ramdac or lvds from the display controller part of their GPUs but I can't really find anything supporting this.
>>
>>82648193
my 2070 doesn't have one.
neither did my 290.
>>
>>82648881
Didn't the 290 still support it through a passive converter and DVI-I?
>>
>>82647173
not on my watch kiddo
>>
>>82648401
you are correct, and vga is already pretty much gone from consumer shit. I manage a bunch of hp and dell workstations, they all have displayport, no vga or even dvi, sometimes they have hdmi. VGA is terrible for modern graphics and displays, but great for 80x25 character consoles
>>
>>82649027
but why tho

to keep high end crts alive for the modern age

>>82647532
Thats probably a matrox card or similarly useless stuff. Mainly for remote server management so the VGA out is just an extra
>>
>>82647776
It depends on the DAC used. There are a few that support muh high refresh rates and they are just a few bucks
>>
>can find tons of cheap monitors that are VGA only
>still come in most motherboards
It feels good to be a VGAchad.

VGA is the lowest common denominator, and it's great
>>
>>82646928
it's good enough for 1920x1080.
>>
>>82646928
woah hold it there God's chosen resolution was 640x480 16 colors
>>
>>82651223
Anything above 48kHz is pointless.
>>
>>82652061
Humans can't see more than 1280x720p so that's overkill.
>>
>>82646822
Baste connector.

Who else comfy hdmi dp and usbc master race?
>>
>>82652874

Oh no.
>>
>>82646822
because my monitor doesn't have audio so maybe VGA is enough?
>>

>>82652643
wrong, humans cant see more than 360p 30fps

>>
>>82648193
Nvidia 900 series killed it, but it returned for some rare models of the 1030.

>>
>>82651014
Digital unlike vga and a precursor to what we use today
>>
>>82646822
It is dead already, I have an ancient monitor with VGA only as my secondary and I have to use an adapter for literally any modern computer or video card.
>>
>>82650932
Noo don't throw the dog off plane
