Why won't it die already?
>>82646822It's very simple and more than enough to carry GODs chosen resolution (640x480 VGA 256 colors).https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l7rce6IQDWs
>>82646822it is cheap and jusy werkz
>>82646822you can't kill what's already dead
>>82646822It just works
cope zoom zoom
ITS OVER, oldfags
>>82646822Because it's cheap and it works.
>>82646822do you really need anything else for a local server terminal? I don't want to waste money or risk the problems of putting a gfx card with displayport into a server that I will only even plug a monitor into once a year
>>82646822it's not on my main display or GPU but its on all my other old shit.it'll be gone soon.
>>82647173Looks like the VGA socket burned off
>>82647173pic related just werksthe gpu even knows that its vga
>>82647306if its on one of the most expensive motherboards (WRX80E-Sage SE) it's not going away
>>82647503it has a header and comes with a vga cable that you can optionally attach to a pci slot. no cpu support needed either (obv since threadrippers don't have graphics built-in)
>>82647427>just werks>bottlenecks 4k@144 to 1.6k@60Cope boomer fag. Your time is up.
>>82647776The retardation in this post if off the charts!
i still use vga, nothing wrong with it
>>82646822You have to wait a few more budget cycles for schools, universities and government bodies to replace old projectors.
Not everyone is an uber 1337 g4ym3r with six 9K 57" monitors. There are millions of boring office PCs with VGA monitors and no reason to replace the monitors themselves. As recently as October Dell were still selling VGA monitors.
>>82647776>>82648077 beat me to it. Learn how physics works, boy.
>>82646822the latest gen of gpus finally killed it though right? dvi is gone too I think
>>82647776the absolute state of the /tech/ board
>>82647446workstation boards aren't representative of consumer hardware trends.i bet we'll be seeing them on servers and rack KVMs for the next 15 years minimum
>>82648193Nope. Still exists on enterprise laptops.
>>82648441I thought I heard somewhere that AMD was removing support for ramdac or lvds from the display controller part of their GPUs but I can't really find anything supporting this.
>>82648193my 2070 doesn't have one.neither did my 290.
>>82648881Didn't the 290 still support it through a passive converter and DVI-I?
>>82647173not on my watch kiddo
>>82648401you are correct, and vga is already pretty much gone from consumer shit. I manage a bunch of hp and dell workstations, they all have displayport, no vga or even dvi, sometimes they have hdmi. VGA is terrible for modern graphics and displays, but great for 80x25 character consoles
>>82649027but why tho
>>82649113to keep high end crts alive for the modern age
>>82649135damn u right. fuckin doom and quake with raytracing on a hd crt is ecstasy
>>82647776Hope your brain damage clears up anon.
What was the point of these?
>>82647559>>82647557>>82647532Thats probably a matrox card or similarly useless stuff. Mainly for remote server management so the VGA out is just an extra
>>82647776It depends on the DAC used. There are a few that support muh high refresh rates and they are just a few bucks
>can find tons of cheap monitors that are VGA only>still come in most motherboardsIt feels good to be a VGAchad.
VGA is the lowest common denominator, and it's great
>>82646928it's good enough for 1920x1080.
>>82646928woah hold it there God's chosen resolution was 640x480 16 colors
>>82651223Anything above 48kHz is pointless.
>>82652061Humans can't see more than 1280x720p so that's overkill.
Who else comfy hdmi dp and usbc master race?
>>82652874>usb cOh no.
>>82646822because my monitor doesn't have audio so maybe VGA is enough?
>>82652874>phone charger master race
>>82652643wrong, humans cant see more than 360p 30fps
>>82648193Nvidia 900 series killed it, but it returned for some rare models of the 1030.
>>82646822Projectors and old monitors (old LCDs and CRTs)
>>82651014Digital unlike vga and a precursor to what we use today
>>82646822It is dead already, I have an ancient monitor with VGA only as my secondary and I have to use an adapter for literally any modern computer or video card.
>>82650932Noo don't throw the dog off plane
