For NVME/HDD, which brands are best?

From what I read online, Samsung was the go-to for NVME's, whereas for HDD, some say Toshiba, others say Western Digital (7200RPM)

What is the AMD equivalent to the Nvidia 1060 3gb?

Not just in terms of gaming performance, but also in terms of HEVC encoding. I am tired of dealing with the Nvidia blob driver on Gentoo, but have a feeling to get equivalent HEVC encoding I will have to shell out for 5000 or 6000 series card.

1. Processor: Core i5 7400 3.0 GHz
2. Mother Board: Asus Prime B250M-A
3. Ram: 8gb SH Hykins
4. SSD M.2 Intel 256gb + 32gb Optane
5. HDD : 1Tb
6. Corsair Carbide Spec-Delta RGB
7. Cooler master liquid cooler with Radiador
8. PSU XZEAL XZ650W 80Plus Bronce
>>
>>82642991
dont forget that 2 horsepower chiller and 1600W PSU you'll need to run it.

>>82643074
not really. you can get an old optiplex with equally good CPU for half that price.
and that PSU is a housefire hazard.

if i put too much fan for the mobo plug and go above the 1A limit, does the mobo will shut down or limit the fans RPM ?
>>

Its garbage. The CPU, motherboard, RAM, SSD, and PSU are all terrible.

This is an overpriced office computer worth maybe half that.
>>

You don't need more than 6 case fans
>>
>>82643287

It should limit the current to 1a and the fans may not run at the proper speed.

I can get a prebuilt right now with:
MSI X570 Tomahawk Wifi
5600X
3070ti
16 GB Crucial Ballistix 3600mhz
And the other stuff of course but they're pretty basic and would need upgrading ASAP.

I can get it for $1900.
Should I pull the trigger? I can't hold on much longer.

You're an idiot, it didn't destroy anything. If your motherboard, or cpu mem controller can't handle the xmp ram speed's, it just won't post, you will get a black screen. What are we fighting about?
>>
I finally figured it out. High resolution monitors are just a scam. I'd been thinking for a while about why some people are so passionate about resolutions even though we used 1080p for years and never had a problem with it. The reason why you're seeing such a huge push for 2k and 4k gaming is because "they" want you to keep buying new products. If you bought a 1080 5 years ago, you'd still be able to play any game coming out today, at high if it not max settings, and still get 60fps. But that's bad for business, so they get shills to go online and start pushing this 1440p meme. Games aren't getting more graphically intensive enough fast enough to justify buying a new card every 2 years or so like they want, so they figured out they can make older cards artificially obsolete by just increasing the amount of pixels. And the monitor companies love it too because they can sell a 1080p monitor for $150 or they can sell some retard a 4k monitor that cost 10 bucks more to produce for $500.
But ask yourself if the extra 300 lines resolution was really worth spending an extra $600+ on new equipment when your 5 year old card and 5 year old monitor worked just fine.

No, higher resolution doesn't accomplish anything for the average gamer. If you work with AutoCAD/Blender or something else that actually benefits from higher resolutions, then sure, you could make a case for that, but they don't require high end GPUs in the same sense and for gaming it's just a waste. 24-27" screen is pretty much the optimal for desktop use and at those distances and sizes, 1080p is well enough. t:different anon

1080p is literally stone age resolution
>>

kek, i know i should

I agree. There's probably diminishing returns for typical desk sizes and/or viewing distances but 1080p/24" is not there yet. Once Windows gets fully integrated fractional DPI scaling 4k/27", and maybe even higher, will be viable. I'm not holding my breath though; ~100ppi has been the standard for a long time and Microsoft seems more worried about including enough brown people in their ads than actually advancing the state of the art.
>>
>>82646406
Wrong, for immersion 1080p is not cutting it anymore

Yes though you're kind of getting close to the edge should you heavily stress both the card and CPU at the same time. Should work though, don't OC too much as this can significantly increase power consumption.
>>
I have a 1TB SSD with windows installed, a 500GB SSD, and a 2TB SSD.
How do you guys suggest I organize stuff?
I'm using the 1TB SSD for everything, but I dont know what I should put in the 500GB SSD... Maybe some games?
The 2TB HDD I'm going to move to a home server because windows is always accessing it and slowing down everything.
>>
>>82646486
Thanks, I wasn't planinng to oc, should work fine.

>people want as sharp a picture as can get.
Do they? Or have they been brainwashed by marketing companies into thinking that's what they want?
4K to me is no different than the big 3D push from 2010. It's a gimmick with no real benefits, it doesn't make a better viewing experience in any way, but it's a way to get people to get rid of their old stuff and buy new stuff. 4K just happens to be sticking to the wall better than 3D.
>>
>>82646549
Mmm it depends
Most real world games in 3D break immersion at 1080p in my eyes
>>
>>82646290
you are so fucking retarded, poor and tech illiterate that it's sad because you actually seem to base your personality on this shit. pathetic beyond words.
>>
>>82646608
>games
I meant more like TVs in general. You don't remember when Avatar came out and 3D was going to change the world? CES 2010/2011 was like 95% 3D TVs.
>>
>>82646290
you are opening your OS to a complete stranger on the internet to save $3 and you trust this complete stranger because a forum full of hackers says it's fine.
can you guide me through this thought process where you are not an absolute fucking drooling, windowlicking, mouthbreathing mongoloid in this case?
>>
>>82646549
Better specs is the last thing effective marketers want to use to sell their shit. It commodifies your product to the point of fungibility. Creates a race to the bottom where margins are razor thin and nobody actually makes any money.
>>
>>82646669
Yeah I guess, 3D was cool and I dunno why we didn't follow it, I guess the VR goggles are better
>>
>>82646290
>>82646685
and the most fucking ironic thing about all of this is that you don't actually need any fucking mstoolkit bullshit to activate it. you can just call some faggot kms server and never run any potentially malicious shit on your machine. but again, looking up how to do that would take more time than making $3 unless you flip burgers.
but of course you don't even know about that while claiming that you know about tech. fucking poetry.
>>
>>82643074
You fucked up. If you follow sales on new hardware you'll see brand new desktops with i5-10400s or whatever selling for ~$400. In used computers I'd be expecting to pay about $150-250 for that thing you bought, but I wouldn't because you could get a Dell with an i7-6700 for the same money.
>>
>>82646750
Alternatively you can run kms.

windows copies are cheap.
>>
How to get legal Windows 10 for free: Scrape a W7 license sticker off an old computer being scrapped. Install Windows 7 on your new computer and activate it. Run the free Windows 10 upgrade tool. Presto, you now have a licensed copy of Windows 10 forever hardware locked to your computer.
>>
>>82646697
Unless the """better""" specs aren't actually any better and don't cost hardly any more to produce but have a grossly overinflated perceived value that means you're actually making ass tons of profit per unit. As long as no one breaks the pact and starts making reasonably priced ultra high res monitors then it's easy money for the whole industry. But eventually someone will and then the price will fall out and they'll find some new gimmick to sell new products. But you're a fool if you don't believe bigger numbers are the king of marketing. You can't nearly as easily get people to buy a new product that's better than the old one just because it's better, but if the number is bigger then they'll fall over themselves trying to get it. They don't know what type of panel it has or what the viewing angles are and even though they just stream low bitrate content from youtube and hulu, they see 4K 240hz on the box and think "those numbers are bigger than my numbers, i gotta have it!"
>>
>>82646763
Nope. They just stopped automatically rolling it out. If you run the upgrade tool yourself it's still in effect.
>>
>>82646765
KMS is cheaper.

Is the distance from the ram slots to the processor socket standardized? (AM4 mobos) if not what's the best way to check if a CPU cooler/AIO pump will block the closest ram slot or not?
>>
>>82646780
They need to recover from the costs associated with advancing resolutions, eg. manufacturing the denser screens with micro sized pixels
>>
gonna sound retarded but i just got my parts
can i just socket what I have now into my mobo to save time doing it later?
I can't plug it all in and move it into my current PC case (using my current GPU/hard drives) until Saturday
Just wondering if essentially slotting everything into the mobo before putting it into the case will make it fucky to plug in all the wires or not

I would like to build 5 fairly top-end computers. I tried calling places like Newegg and TigerDirect, etc. to try and get bulk discounts, but they won't give me any.

I know about alibaba. I see some cards, ram, mobo's, etc on there. Some parts I can find for way cheaper, some parts are listed way more expensive than if I just bought on scamazon. I'm more concerned with the reliability of these parts, and whether or not they are genuine.

For example: AMD Ryzen 9 5900X
I can find this part for $950 on Alibaba. But on Amazon it lists for $570. Going through the list of info, it seems to be the exact same product on Alibaba. So why so much more expensive?

There are some reverse examples of that, too. So my question is how to build my computers and get discounts on bulk buying 5 of everything I need?

Alright, /pcbg/. I have a Ryzen 1600 with a B450 mobo, 1060 6gb and 16gb of ram running at 3200mhz.
I want to emulate the Switch with Yuzu and Ryujinx, as well PS2 and PS3 at good speeds.
I plan to wait for 5600x prices to go down which should be by end of this year. I estimate that AMD will mark it down to $200 or less.
Do you think it is a good choice to wait?

>>

you can already emulate PS2 at nearly the best speed, because pcsx2 is ass and doesn´t quite take advantage of multithreading iirc.
As for the switch, I recall it being still fairly new and not very optimal. Dunno about PS3.
Personally I would definitely buy a 5600 if it gets cheaper, regardless of emulation

hahaha you don't even know what KMS is. if you had 10% of an idea what a clueless nigger you are you would kill yourself out of embarrassment. please stop humiliating yourself, this is self harm at this point.

Well sure but we're talking about increasing pixel count which absolutely costs more to produce. Specs sell, for sure, but they don't really get you ahead in any way because they're too easy to compete on. LG releases an 8k monitor, how does Samsung compete? They up their own resolution. That costs money both fixed and ongoing. The effect? We're all using 8k monitors which, regardless of your opinions on the matter, are objectively better in at least one way. Samsung and LG have just blown a load of money on R&D but neither significantly improved their position in the market. If Samsung's marketers has been a little more clever they might have "proprietized" the 8k resolution. Called it SamCinema or something. How the fuck does LG compete with that? They can't - SamCinema means Samsung. That's true genius marketing. That's the kind of marketing that put Starbucks in every town in the country - they didn't sell you better coffee they sold you 20 minutes of feeling like you're in the ruling class. That's the kind of marketing PC component manufacturers wish they could use. Sometimes they even do. Apple is the obvious example, Retina to be specific, but Corsair also manages it closer to our own area. PSUs are a commodity but people here, tabula rasa, want a /Corsair/ one. They don't even make anything and they're worth $240 million. That's good marketing.

did you ever consider that there's smart people out there trying to fuck you over? by let's say using a honeypot of MUH FREE SHIT? you are obviously way too fucking dumb to assess any risk or analyze anything, you are clearly just giving strangers online keys to your house for no other reason than not having $3. i am not sure how to get this point across to your two brain cells. maybe it's just not possible.

I'm looking for better IPC in single-core performance and also in multi-threading productivity. I frequently do video editing as well, aside from emulation.
>>
>>82647051
I do none of those and the 5600 still looks pretty juicy, sadly I have an old mobo with no support, so I may get a 3600 or 3700 in the future, as a last upgrade. And some 3060 or something.

Do you really think the R5 5600X will go down as low as <200$?
I'm planning to upgrade too but the cheapest way possible of getting a new CPU from my country is a Amazon, and if something is above 200$ they end up charging you like another 100$ of importation fees.

Why don't you just say "I don't know" and be done with it?
