Are there any modern phones that have the following:
>removable battery
>headphone jack
>microsd slot
>unlocked bootloader and/or rootable
I have a google pixel 3 on graphene, and I really enjoy it but god damn I miss removable batteries and headphone jacks.

The Fairphone 3 is the only one left with all of those features. Hope you aren't American.
>>
All of the phones above suck, use the LG 5. It's the best Foss-capable phone out there. They are dirt cheap, batteries can be procured on eBay for $5-10 a pop, and the phone is USB-C capable
>>
Idk I'm considering ziptying a touch screen to a libre sbc with a cellular hat at this point

Yep. technology gets more shit.
I have some Chinese shit phone(android) has
>headphone jack
>microsd slot
However the battery is impossible to remove.
its full of Chinese shit software and I bet 100% of what I do is send to china.

>graphene
I wish I can use this, can I even flash this to my chink shit phone or will it brick my?
>>
>>82025564

The bad news about LGs is that VoLTE won't work with custom ROMs. Since most carriers are requiring that now in order to make a fucking phone call, its gonna suck ass.

i want one with a headphone jack and fm radio tuner. yes i know i sound like a boomer

1st three should be available on plenty of $100 androids
>>
>>82025779
Grapheneos is only available for the google pixel series of phones iirc. If your phone happens to be the Xiaomi Mi A2, look into calyxOS. Otherwise, look into lineageOS, I have seen it be well regarded on /g/.

For more options, take a look at the "popular choices" part of the instalgentoo wiki.

This can be it.

Thanks for the info is there something that can return the phone to its default OS if I fuck it up with free tard shit ?

Its a phone used for business so its not like anything to sensitive is going on there.
Literally everything has spyware and some cloud shit that asks you to have access to everything even the calculator !

Sony is open to custom roms, they check everything off here except for removable battery. Only phone I know of these days that has a removable battery is linux community stuff like the pinephone or Samsung Xcover.

old motorola E models have dual sim and removable battery.
>>
Motorola E4.
Headphone Jack, (sadly single SIM), SD card, removable battery, decent camera, probably can flash a custom ROM on it, not too big, not too small.

Has shit power though so if you're planning to play PUBG on it forget it.

I don't see it specifically listed on the Lineage website but Lineage is supported on the slightly "upper version" G-line so I don't see why it wouldn't be supported on the E-line.

The Moto G4 Play is specifically listed on Lineage OS and has basically the same specs as the E4.

It's a little smaller though

That's the reason I'm still using the LG G2 mini. Headphone jack, SD slot, removable battery that still holds the whole day, 4,6" screen, flashed with Resurrection Remix (fork of Lineage), Android 7.1.2 is the newest version sadly. Haven't had any luck finding newer phones with those specs, no idea what I'll get when this one eventually dies.

Alcatel U50, but it's a piece of garbage
source: I own one
I got one for 100$ at wal*mart

only thing is you have to pop the rear panel off to access the microsd slot

it's a burner phone through and through. 3g only afaik, almost never comes locked

>>82032364
just measured my U50, it's nearly 6" overall and the screen is 4.97" according to my shitty digital calipers

>>82025571
you can get laptops with WWAN cards. most business models (i.e. chinkpads) have them. install skype and you're g2g, it's only like 4$ a month for a stable number and unlimited voice calling

>>82032634
this would be reasonable like 10 years ago but usb power packs are like 4$ each while replacement batteries are hard to find and usually very expensive. you can literally get 1500-2500mAh usb batteries at the dollar store and can use them for more than just your phone
>>
>>82032589
So if software bricks/buttons don't work you don't have to wait until the battery dies to restart it.
>>
>>82032666
usb batteries don't help much when the internal battery dies. replacement batteries really aren't that hard to find for flagship models (well, they weren't back when those had replaceable batteries)
>>
my xperia XA2 has 3/4. If you cure your schizophrenia you might be able to live without a removable battery

>>82032684
internal batteries can be replaced, you just need tools. and when batteries die it can be messy and will likely ruin the phone anyway. these shits catch fire in your pocket these days

>>82032671
an actually fair point tbqh laddo, can't disagree there
for the record I do like replaceable batteries but it'd never be a dealbreaker for me and stinks of meme-laden autism to absolutely demand
>>
>>82030317
It's a developer phone still in BETA. I wouldn't get it unless you like tinkering/hacking. I can certainly do those things you mentioned; it's essentially a PineH64 (similar to RPi4) but with less hardware acceleration in a phone form factor. The battery life also sucks donkey dick. What is cool about it is that you can connect a HDMI monitor to it making it a basic linux desktop experience. If you want a reliable phone, the pinephone isn't for you.

>>
>>82032754
Meh, often times they die by just refusing to charge or by bulging up. And yes you can still replace internal batteries, but it being made purposefully harder to turn you into a consoomer which in turn makes spares harder to find is fucked up.
>>
>>82032820
>turn you into a consoomer
if you weren't a consoomer already you'd just get some bullshit burner flip phone at a superstore instead of coming to /g/ about it and asking for product recommendations
>>
>>82032846
Functionality shouldn't come at the price of having to produce a shit ton of waste and buying a new phone every two years. I'm not asking for recommendations because i know all phones suck, so I'll keep using my shitty buggy no-name smartphone i bought refurbished years ago until it explodes
>>
>>82032846
>burner flip phone at a superstore
I fucking wish I could. Here (Wurstland), you have to register your phone number with your ID, even if it's a phone plan from Aldi. Pre-paid cards also need to be activated in person (or webcam) with ID as far as I know.
>>
>>82031208
>I hear it lags a shit ton
That's because it has the performance of a 2014 phone and these idiots slap GNOME and KDE on there. sxmo works flawlessly.

modern phone?
just get a random phone from the last 10 years.
look around for one with a radio chip but other than that there are literally 10000+ models of phones the last 10 years which fits that criteria.

no, to go online and register the phone number, retard. Do you think every american tourist has to get their photo taken at the border to associate a phone number? Get a phone number from another cunt, doofus.

>I'd rather not go to prison because of a phone,
you're a massive pussy if you think you'll get imprisoned because you have the wrong area code.
>>
>>82034643
You can't read German, can you? You need to register it with your ID or passport, your IP is irrelevant.
>>
>>82034692
You don't need to register your german passport with a non-german number if you get that number outside of germany :^)

The VPN is to avoid automatic redirects that VoIP (and other) companies have probably put in for compliance. Even then, there's all those ridiculous pacific and west indian islander phone companies that sell phone cards for immigrants to call home. Why not just get a stack of those?
