Hey anons I have a question, I haven't really found much info about it in my searches and I think it's because I'm not quite sure how to word it.
Basically, I just bought a new phone recently that I'm waiting on delivery for. It has 64GB internal storage, and the site said it supports expanded storage up to 256GB, so I also bought a 256GB microSD to keep in it. I also bought a USB-C male to USB 3.0 female OTG adapter. What I'm wondering is, can I use said adapter to hook up my 2TB hard drive as well? Like if I wanted to copy a movie to the SD card to watch on my phone. I'm just not sure how the OTG thing works, and don't want to fuck anything up by exceeding limits. I'm sure formatting will be an issue too though, so if it's any help, I currently use the drive on my Linux computer, but I don't know offhand what it's formatted to.
In any case, I'm not opposed to buying another backup drive/USB stick to use just with the OTG. But I just want to know first whether the expandable storage limit will cause me issues with it.
>>
Any advice about phone size? I was thinking about trading in an old S7 either a S21 or S21+. I think I'd like the larger size more, but I'm not sure if it would be a bitch to carry around or not.
>>
>>80334720
Larges phones aren't that hard to keep in your pocked unless they're stupidly large (depending on pants of course, if you're a girl your pants pockets will usually be much smaller than guy ones so you'll have to carry your phone in your purse if its anything above small). The bigger problem with large phones is that you can't use them one-handed comfortably and have to move your hands around a bunch while using them.

Of course a smartphone is never going to be as good as a dedicated camera but they have been getting better and better every year up to the point where they are almost as good as DSLRs now

I own mi 9t, and soc is what kills it for me. Otherwise it'd be quite great. I see poco f2 pro, but don't feel like upgrading into an already old phone.
Main requirements:
Good chipset
Pop up camera only, no stupid notches holes or other retarded shit
As big of a battery as possible
Cheap, sub 500 definitely
Hate tall phones, but what can you do in this retarded trend times
Prefer to have 3.5mm. Fuck dongles.

Slow. Browsing web hangs sometimes, especially as I use desktop versions.
Everything is bloated to heaven. Can't tolerate mobile site versions.
In general, run into hangs every once in a while, where more processing power seems to be required.
Opening programs sometimes is slow, also especially if you do open several and keep switching around and they keep on getting killed in the background. Minor things, but it adds up into one big frustration after years.

Also s9 here, waiting to see how the galaxy s21 fe pans out. My sticking point is a SD card slot, just got a 256gb card last year for $40. No I don't really NEED the space. It's just lame of phone makers to remove something so simple. Also hoping camera holes get removed somehow, probably won't happen til a year or two from now.
Would also like something with little bloat if possible. I know Samsung is shit with that. Pixel and oneplus would be alright alternatives for me, but again, no sd slot on those. Also the hardware for both would be step downs from Samsung in almost every way.
Samsung, get rid of bloat shit and keep focusing on software. Then you reign king.

What are the best flagship android phones right now? Only thing I care about is how easy it is to unlock/root and install lineage on. It needs to last me several years.

Well, I've found poco f2 for 380e, seemed like a good deal and bought it. I should kms for being a consumeristic whore, when I have a mi 9t.
But was a bit afraid this might be the last phone even worth buying for the several upcoming years.
Underscreen cameras are still years away and retards just HAVE to do these idiotic punch holes. Holy molly am I triggered.

I doubt the first issue has anything to do with the SoC, and I know the latter one has nothing to do with it.
Aggressive RAM management from shit MIUI or not enough RAM is why your apps are getting killed.

Samsung will start from the S10 series to update their phone's Android version for 3 years instead of 2 like the rest of Android makers.

I bought an iPhone 12 and I hate everything about it. I can't bring myself to trade it in for a new Galaxy because of the extra money I will have spent to do so rather than just buying it outright. Idk if I can make it a year for the 22 to come out. How do you faggots like these things.
>>

Mfw i buy poco f1 for 100 euro each
>>
>>80345154
We warned you, Anon, they are called itoddlers for a reason
>>
>>80345154
How long have you had it? Return it today and just shell out because the longer you wait the more you'll regret not doing so. Besides, you only shell out extra if you get some exuberant Samsung phone. Why wouldn't a galasy s20 fe do it for you? Those can be found below $500
>>
>>80345298
i thought it was just irrational hate and a meme.
>>80345328
About a month. Too late to return it. I'd sell it on eBay but I'm scared of getting butt fucked by a scammer claiming it didn't work since eBay always sides with the buyer. And I don't have a Facebook for marketplace.
>>
>>80345367
Just assuming you'd want a s20 fe:
1. go to samsung website
2. select phone, buy now with trade in
3.i just did this and it and iphone 12 = $600 trade in
Basically makes the new phone "free". I'm the one waiting for a s21 fe to come out, otherwise I'd jump on this deal personally. The red color looks hot.

https://www.samsung.com/us/mobile/galaxy-s20-5g/buy/galaxy-s20-fe-5g-128gb-unlocked-sm-g781uzbmxaa/?skipDevice=galaxy-s20-fe-5g
>>
>>80345367
>scammer claiming it didn't work since eBay always sides with the buyer
America is scary, when I sell secondhand stuff here, such things don't even cross my mind because it's unheard of
>>
>>80345433
I'd do that, but that basically means I paid $880 for a s20 fe. Which is why I'm hesitant to trade in. Trading in for a s21 only gives me a $700 credit so I'd have to come out of pocket $100 to cover the rest which would mean I paid $980 total for the s21. I guess I'll just see if I can get a friend to post it on Facebook or hold it for a year to get my moneys worth out of it. I really just fucked up. Guess I learned my lesson. Apple...never again.
>>
>>80344974
I know, that ram manager is killing stuff, but also programs needs ram, esp. so in the year of 2021, where there is one thing assured on this desolate and forgotten earth, is the fuckibg bloat up the ass. But how does processor speed nothing to do with soc?
How does flash speed nothing to do with loading stuffs?
I had a poco f1 and it was certainly better than this speed wise, but I gave it away, due to notch aids. Skimped the money on 9t pro, now paid for it twice.
Also what is lineageos
>>
>>80345089
Best build quality?? Are you trolling?? Only phone I ever had cracking was a S10. Best cameras are debatable and changes all the time so you can't say they have the best when in 2 months it's gonna be a new device. Best displays my ass. Looks no different than any other high end amoled phone
>>
>>80345492
Think about it, that phone was almost a grand when it first came out last year. s21 was a grand. Notes even more so. Big picture, $800 for a s20 fe isn't too bad of a self inflicted price gouge. Idiot tax.
You fucked up by waiting, but you know that.
Act NOW. Either put up a listing TODAY to sell it close to what you bought for, or do the trade in method to guarantee a new phone without getting scammed.
If you put up a secondhand listing, wait a week or two for bites. Should keep the $600 trade in window open for you. If no bites, quit being an indecisive pussy and just trade in.
Again, the longer you wait, the more you only fuck yourself.

I've been using Galaxy S4 for years but now I figured I need to upgrade since my phone is too old to participate in my mobile programming classes and also makes pretty shitty photos which is bad because I need to make photos of paper during online exams.
Is Galaxy A21S the best thing in its price range or can I get something much better at minimal price increase?
>>
Phones are at a point where an upgrade doesn't offer me anything.
Battery already easily lasts a day, 5g is a meme unless you have an actual use case for more bandwidth (it won't improve coverage since cities are already covered and it's too long range for countryside), I don't give a fuck about a camera since I'm not a girl nor a fag, I'm not a gayyyyyymer and since I only use a few apps they stay in memory so I don't even experience the 'horrible' 1 second it takes to open a new app, less than 2mm of bezels on the sides and phones can't get wider without being uncomfortable to use (and height is a meme that doesn't matter to me).
The time has come for phones to be as boring as computers. Or maybe even more so since only retards play games/compile/render on their phones so even the speed improvements don't matter besides bragging rights and maybe more processing power for better photos.
>>
>>80345587
Exynos modem is know to have poor signal, so probably yes
>>
>>80345019
Why should I have to do that when my 10 year old cellphone could do it for me? Are you actually trying to justify that a brand new smartphone should have LESS functionality than a 10 year old cellphone?
>>
>>80345924
keep in mind phone manufacturers program their signal bars to display differently so you can't make a comparison based on that, what you want is an app that shows signal strength in dBm.

Karate chop and wrist turn gestures for camera and flashlight is something I will never be able to live without again. Stereo speakers are more balanced than my S10e and have lowest volume not being loud asf(yes wtf Samsung... You can't even make the speakers proberly).

Anandtech summarised it nicely in their S21 review:
>On the S21 Ultra, frankly speaking, Samsung should ditch their 108MP sensor in favour of their 50MP unit. It’s been an interesting experiment for these two generations, but we’ve seen that the sensor offers little to no advantages other than being able to market the 108MP figure. The picture quality advantages of the 108MP sensor otherwise just boils down to better details in daylight shots – otherwise the 12MP sensor of the S20 and S21 are pretty much equivalent in every other way.
So pretty much the only reason they're using a 108MP sensor is because it's easy to market to the tech illiterates who think bigger number = better.

it's completely gone, you could enable it via ADB in 8.0 but they later removed it.
when I "updated" my tablet past 7 my battery life tanked because of this bullshit.
there's WiFi Automatic and Sleepywifi but I don't get why they'd remove a decent feature.

I've used Lawnchair for a long time, the customization is decent. I used Nova before that many years ago.

Newpipe, which I agree breaks randomly and is not always reliable
Our youtube vanced. Been loving that so far, though its kind of annoying it needs two other apps to make it work. Youtube vanced itself, its update manager, and a microg app to work with google shit if you so choose.
