Got an RX 570 that I use for macOS in here too but have it disabled for Windows.

At work right now. I actually do some extent of CAD modelling on this crummy heap. Replacements on the way though, installation only delayed until further notice because of the pandemic. Not looking forward to Win 10.
>>79690927I wasn't looking forward to Win 10 either but it's really not so back once you tweak it a bit. I removed Cortana and all of the in-menu ads and annoying start menu tiles and it doesn't really bother me now. Still... I long for a simpler time.

>>79691821>upgrading every genWhy?
The only real issue I have with this laptop would be the 768p panel, but honestly I don't mind it one bit at 14", and I don't really need great colors or contrasts for word processing and translation work. If anything, the fact that it's kinda dull and washed out makes it easier on the eyes when working on documents with a white background for extended periods of timeThat little dual core i7 is pretty beastly for a U series chip
AM3+ is a dead end, and upgrading it any further would basically require assembling a brand new PC. Still, it's good enough for Minecraft and weeb VNs/JRPGs.
>>79687428>that RAM speed on Intelwhy
>>79689851Emulation & compilation reasons mostly. I also like to play games sometimes, so a 1650s is fine.
RTX 3080 soon. Also, is there any tangible benefit to getting an X570 board over a B450, other than having an extra m.2 slot and a few extra SATA ports?
>>79687618How are the temps? Heard the 5800X PBO temps are high as fuck.

My're specs.I sorta miss having a massive bang-for-the-buck PC, though. My last PC I sold for more than it cost to build even after ~5 years of use. This one only has maybe $400 bucks saved off new -- less if you specced a lower tier X570 mobo.
>>79693730w-what's the n stand for
>>79693750Remember when Europe sued Microsoft for bundling Internet Explorer with Windows? This is the result.Windows N doesn't come preinstalled with a few things, like Windows Media Player.
>>79693527Not all X570, but some support two PCIE x16 slots (running x8 each) direct to CPUAnd X570 has PCIE 4 chipset lanesBasically only useful for multiple graphics cards and PCIE drives

>>79695690>no SSD>8GB RAM>XMP not enabledYes, here's your prize.>>79695843It clearly says it has a 1600MHz XMP profile.
>>79695779Yup, I would've built a new machine this year if I didn't have to replace my old GTX 980 last year. It died on me and I ended up replacing it with the 5700 XT. I used it with a 1080p 60hz monitor for a while, but I finally upgraded to a 1440p 144hz monitor and I'm still running stuff like a champ. Averaging 115-120fps in Doom Eternal on Ultra Nightmare. Granted, not every game is as well optimized.
>>79695857why torture yourself with low framerate? drop the settings
>>79690071Wasn't AMD's resizable bar implementation available only with AMD CPUs?
>>79695850>It clearly says it has a 1600MHz XMP profile.oop
>>79695954Motherboard manufacturers quickly implemented it on their own and exposed AMD's bullshit.
>>79695951Because I literally can't tell the difference between 120fps and 144fps so I'd rather have it look prettier. I feel like when you hit around 120hz, it's hard to make out the difference at higher frames. That's why I feel 1440p 144hz is the sweet spot. On a 27in monitor, I can't tell the difference between 1440p and 4k.
>>79695984It needs to be supported both on the GPU and and the Motherboard though. If the drivers don't implement it, it doesn't work. I can see AMD being petty enough to do block it since they kinda advertised SAM as a big thing.
>>79693576Runs perfectly fine on my NH-12s. Never throttles under full load. Quite unless your maxing out more than half the cores (even then it's a noctua so still pretty quite). It's at ambient temp when idle. Normal loads don't get past 60C
