Why is everything in Loonix so idiotically overcomplicated? Take GTK bookmarks, for example. A normal person would just make a folder with symlinks, but these dense fuckers decided to invent some retarded XML config file. Or app menu. Again, just put links in a special dir. No, let's parse some retarded fucking desktop files. Unix way my ass.

If you like the unix way, don't bother with a desktop environment.
The only real way to use desktop linux is using xinit and passing control to your window manager of choice.

So like Windows does? Oh wait, it's using a database for this now (TileDataLayer). And it's not network-transparent any more either.

Desktop files make sense because they allow you to define name, comment, localized versions of those two, execution in case you open it alone or with a file, icon and mimetype associations. And there's nothing retarded with it. It's a simple key=value file.
