FAQ:
>Which version should I get?
>Where can I get the ISOs?
>What the fuck is an .svf file?
>What does LTSC 2019 have?
>How do I verify the ISOs aren't fake/infected?
>How do I activate Windows?
>How do I change to a different edition post-install?
>How do I disable backported telemetry in 8.1/7?
>What software do you recommend/should I install?
See paste. (your other unmentioned question is probably here, too)

>How do I debloat/debotnet Windows 10 1803-2004?
Offline (pre-installation): Optimize-Offline
Guide: https://rentry.co/mdl-optimize-guide
Online (live installation): privacy.sexy / wpd.app / W10Privacy / privatezilla
Don't mix offline & online tools with each other.

>Do I really need to debloat it?
If you had to ask, then no.
>Can you get the Ryzen scheduler on LTSC 2019?
No. Wait for LTSC 2022, or use SAC (semi-annual channel) editions.
>Can I upgrade to LTSC 2019?
Only from a previous LTSC build w/o doing the upgradematrix hack in paste.
>Is Windows 10 2004/20H2 OK?
Only Education & Enterprise.
>I already run Windows 7, but don't want to clean install?
The non-LTSC installers can upgrade.
>Are homebrew ISOs safe to use (Gen2/Ameliorated)?
Depending on trust&rep, almost never. Most of the time these are unverifiable and unreproducible.

This has probably been asked a million times, but can I do an in-place upgrade from LTSC to Education if I have the actual Education key?
>>
>>79656756
As far as I know it is officialy a non supported upgrade path, but you try the update matrix trick from the paste.
I can say it is not a "type the key and let windows do the trick" kind of upgrade, but with the right ISO and modified matrix it might work, Eductaion 20H2 is more modern than LTSC 1809 so I don't see a reason why it should fail based on the windows versions alone. I tried the other way (2004 Edu -> 1809Ltsc) and it failed, but if there is not a really good reason to do it, I wouldn't.

Other way around, anon. You suspicions are actually correct: you can upgrade from LTSB/C to SAC because they're later versions - but not from SAC to LTSB/C, because that generally entails returning to an earlier version.

I have a 20H2 ISO which uses an install.esd. It seems that I can't mount an .esd file with DISM, but I can extract a .wim file from the .esd. However if I did that would I then have to put the .wim back inside the .esd, or could I just stick the modified install.wim in the ISO and delete the .esd?

MCT generates unreproducible isos so you can't easily hash check them for corruption, nor reproduce any problem someone else might be having. if you want downloads from microsoft, tb is better.

My initial idea was simply to use a linux system and dd to move the Windows partitions (EFI, MSR, Windows, Recovery) to a different drive. It didn't work. Although to be fair I did forget to move the 16MB MSR partition.
>>
>>79670300
99.9% of peopel don't hash check so it's better to have them download it from the official website. Yes adguard, rufus, etc. can download ISO's but what if they go rogue and start dishing out infected ISO's. Always something to consider.

Yes, because as others have mentioned, other than disabling feature updates it provides no advantage. And if you really need to disable that, you can always keep updates disabled post-installation with software tools.

LTSC never made much sense except for those who are too stupid to ISO optimization themselves to have a minimalist setup, but it especially doesn't make sense now that those who are too stupid to optimize can do the same with one click software post-installation.

Weird question but let's see if you can help me out.

Is there any possible way to add a specific folder to the list of "Search again in:" folders when using the Windows Search? I want to be able to quickly search for files at a specific location from any location. I know that the "Custom..." button does this partially, but everytime I must select that folder through that option, which is as time consuming as just reaching the folder I want and just using the search there instead.

I know there's search programs out there that may be faster, but I want the functionality and convenience of the windows search itself.

LTSC makes sense if you don't want/ need updates except security updates, with SAC you are forced to update at least once a year. My SAC install broke early last year by the update from 1909 to 2004 (something in the powermanager and thermal solution didn't work correctly anymore, fan spinning all the time and battery runtime was crap), switched to ltsc and won't have that problem on my notebook anytme soon. LTSC makes a lot of sense if you have drivers and stuff that are prone to break, less big updates reduce the risk/ problems.

And for the minimalism point you are right, Education and LTSC are simmilar after debloat.

Anyone have an issue of having their system shut down completely when running a full scan through Defender?

Quick and offline are fine though. My noggin is joggin in circles over here.
>>
>>79705642
Because it's reading everything vaguely executable on your drive during a full scan (which chomps big gobs of CPU too), I suppose it could cause runaway cache growth, which would push a lot of shit into your pagefile. On shutdown, code pages would generally need to be paged back in, I suppose.

Do you have an SSD? Does it do better if you manually close all your memory/CPU-hogging programs before hitting Shut Down?

For some retarded reason my LTSC win10 install has tied itself to an old 500GB ssd that contains an old backup copy of win7. The system will not boot (invalid boot media) when the ssd is not connected. I figured this out while trying to clone the 1TB sdd win10 is on to an new 1TB NVMe I got for christmas. When I use the AOMEI clone feature it tries to make two partitions on the NVMe, one for the 1TB sdd, and another for the 500GB ssd. I have tried system repair with boot media, but it says it must be an offline OS to perform an sfc check? Can anything be done to fix this or am I looking at a new install?

Okay so I just bought a new gayman laptop since it was a good deal. It of course came with Windows installed and all the manufacturer's shitty bloatware. So I bought a Windows 10 Pro key and clean installed Windows.
Now my audio won't work. It says it finds the device, the audio mixer shows audio playing to the speakers, but no sound is actually coming out of the speakers. I don't know what to do because most troubleshooting advice I find online are all driver issues or otherwise Windows can't see the device or something. If Windows thinks it's playing audio I don't know how to fix it. Audio was working before on the bloatware Windows install. I did try reinstalling drivers, uninstalling the device and reinstalling in Device Manager, setting it to default audio device, anything I could think of. I'm lost.

Oh, no it isn't external speakers connected via 3.5mm jack. I'm just trying to get the internal speakers on the laptop to play audio.
>>
>>79721032
can you test if it outputs audio on a 3.5mm jack? also did you try SDI Origin?
>>
>>79721032
Check keyboard for mute button.
Laptop you may need to use the Fn key
>>
>>79721052
I second this...

Get some headphones or speakers and try using them on the 3.5mm jack. This will tell you if you have a broken jack in the port if you can't fully plug in the jack.
>>
>>79721052
Unfortunately I'm kind of in the middle of a move. My headphones and external speakers are back home. I'm going there this weekend so I can test it then. Thanks for that advice. As far as SDI Origin, I did install a bunch of drivers, but it keeps wanting me to reinstall a few (including audio drivers). I think I figured out I need to download others rather than reinstall the ones it wants me to. I'm downloading a few right now and I'll let you know how that goes. I've restarted a few times after installing different drivers and tested again to no avail yet.
>>79721064
Tried this as well. It wasn't muted before, but tried hitting it, testing, hitting it again, testing, but nothing. That isn't the issue but thanks for the tip. I'll take anything at this point.

>For some retarded reason
Because that's where your bootloader is.
>my LTSC win10 install has tied itself to an old 500GB ssd that contains an old backup copy of win7
Because that's where your bootloader is.
>The system will not boot (invalid boot media) when the ssd is not connected
Because that's where your bootloader is.
><more stuff that the answer is "Because that's where your bootloader is." snipped>
>Can anything be done to fix this or am I looking at a new install?
Yes, install another bootloader on your SSD. BCDBOOT will help you.

Look further up the thread, where I actually tested it, so you didn't have to.

I can see they already tested, but then why is a thing if it actually does nothing. I can see pajeets and pedros spreading this

>>
>>79723571
oh, you have actual mvs, neat. their uploads are retarded, for example some have the same iso. anyways, the highest ID is the one you need, so the bottom one there
>>
>>79723585
Thanks mate
>>
>>79723585
That's not actual MVS, it looks like RGAdguard's MVS download page. It's still good though, pulls the ISOs straight from MS's servers, according to MDL.

Hang on - yeah, I think they call their version Techbench.
>>
>>79723854
nah, techbench is the name of the site where you used to be able to publicly get windows 7 isos (aside from digitalriver). nowadays it's just the normal windows 10 download site when visited from non-windows useragent.
their version of tb is at tb.rg-adguard.net but it has a different design.
meanwhile i figured out which site it is: https://tb.32767.ga/products.php?search=20h2&prod=all
>>
>>79723868
Umm... doesn't "tb"in the link stand for "Techbench"? Or am I losing my marbles?
>>
File deleted.
>>79723899
yes it does, because it mirrors microsoft's used-to-be-called-techbench-but-not-anymore.
it's not a mvs mirror and never was, and techbench is not a name adguard invented

if you want insider isos for testing there's uupdump.ml
however
- building process has some problems and the resulting installs *might* be insecure. so only do it on a vm
- you still need to be insider to upgrade them later

What's wrong with Pro though? I have activated windows. My key comes form Dreamspark (when I was studying) and it was for 8 Pro. I upgraded it to 8.1 and then for 10 pro. I don't have an access to Dreamspark for 6 years already, but my system is activated (and it's always activating after reinstalls or even complete hardware swap) after converting it to win 10.
