Last I checked, the fruit models are like around 100 bucks on ebay.

the expensive ones are the g4 cubes

The G3/G4 Powermac was honestly fantastic. The case design, the specs for its time, the Linux compatibility almost right out of the gate... it was the high point of Apple targeting actual nerds.
>>

I know I'm toasting in a troll bread but

>see $50 mac pro 1,1 on craigslist
>$50 seriously? that's less than these ebay fucks charge for just a bare case
>go pick it up
>boomer owner knows nothing about it other than it won't boot anymore and the genius bar was gonna want a small fortune to fix it
>"yep i've gotten 13 years of pretty good use out of it so, might as well hand it off to someone who likes these things. enjoy!"
>get it home
>does its boot chime, shows a folder icon w/question mark on it
>swap out the original 160gb hdd with an ssd I had lying around, install snow leopard
>works fine
>buy 32gb of generic ecc ram off ebay for $30
>buy a pair of x5365's (fastest xeons you can put in the 1,1/2,1 mac pros) for $60
>flash firmware and smc to 2,1
>install El Capitan with pike's bootloader
>throw $70 craigslist r9 280 in it
>runs great
>rips through pro tools sessions like a hot knife through butter
>total investment: $200
>>
>>78823506
whoever had it before me did because the sticker says 32mb but the stick inside is 64mb
>>
>>78823404
The g4 emac was better. Same form factor, better specs, no gay rainbow colors

Ah yes, classic 'ol Apple.
>>

g3 are slow as ball, unless you use os9 but then the software support suck.
i'd rather have a pentium 3 machine at this point.
>>
>>78823707
I've used Windows my whole life. Still do for everything but music.

Don't defend yourself against them. There's nothing you can do to stop them, even if you say a PPC computer is better than the M1.
>>
>>78823791
A PPC Mac running GNU/Linux or OpenBSD is guaranteed to be free of spyware.

Macs are literally hardware backdoored NSA glownigger trash.
Crapple are literally under the FBI's thumb and have been for decades.

kill yourself, apple was different back then
unlike 90s windows shit it was made by white people in white countries
>>

are you actually fucking retarded? powerpc 750 is immune to all the exploits and there is no space for botnet in the firmware, the tray loader doesn't even have a boot picker

>>
>>78823850
Yeah, a Geiger counter iPod made in collaboration with the Dept. of Energy in 2005 totally proves their PowerPC devices, the last of which came out in either 2005 or 2006, have NSA and/or FBI backdoors
>>

yeah it was. i wanted a dual g4 powermac so bad back then. when i got into high school and took an animation class, it just got a brand new g4 dual 800mhz powermac. it was super nice and i so badly wanted one. when i was able to get access to it i installed halo and starcraft on it.
>>
these were comfy, but the coolest fucking computer I ever saw was the sunflower iMac
>>
>>78823702
The biggest downside to the emac is its a bitch to carry. That and three of the 5 I have owned had crackers of some sort in and around the disc drive.

none, overheating wasn't an issue again until late g4/g5
>>
>>78823850
That’s not true, the secret laws passed right after 9/11 were what spurred research into backdoors. Apple was forced to switch to Intel because IBM wasn’t going to bother redesigning a backdoored CPU.
>>
I've thought about picking up a G3 as a word processor, but there's no real reason to beyond aesthetic.
>>
>>78824169
>/g/ nerds playing halo and starcraft is soi
What the fuck are you talking about? What the fuck is wrong with you?
