why are you people so poor
speccy is dead
Thinking of getting a Ryzen processor (and a new mobo to be compatible with it) for Christmas, and a new graphics card + 2TB SSD for my game library storage. Trying to figure out which processor is best for maximum single-thread performance, and which graphics card would pair best with said processor.
Waiting for DDR5 before upgrading
>>78796874>he doesnt upgrade his cpu and motherboard before buying a new gpucringe
>>78796827big noavi arrived today
>>78797995My fellow Skylake nigga. Mine is paired with an RX 570. Im going to wait another 5 years.
4 more inactive monitors since i couldn't get the nvidia cards to work properly in windows
>>78797101>>78799178Will we ever get a new CPU?
>>78799292Sure, once DDR5 lands.> no AVX2> no VT-dit doesn't cut it, let's be honest here.
The win7fag extinction is so beautiful.
>>78797440hwinfo is a botnet
>>78799178>>78799292Tbh the core locked 3470 is m not the same beast as a 3470k which can boost over 4ghz. I know because i have a 3470.
Caved and went with the 2060 option plus a new monitor instead of upgrading the whole system. Will coast on this for at least 2 more years before doing a full system build. One weird thing is that I found a problem with one of my memory sticks that was causing crashing in games, ran memtest and found I had one that was faulty. First time that's ever happened to me
>>78799580man thats hot
I really dont get it, speccy can't read hardly anything correctly. Incorrect temps, incorrect vram. Wont report SDD smart temps. reports HDD as SSD.But it can detect and identify a VGA monitor running through a chink converter cable?
>speccyI was forced to switch to HWinfo64 even though I hate the layout after speccy became unable to detect my zen3 processor
>>78797016>10gb dual channelWut? 6gb and 4gb sticks?
>>78799798>rx 570>Based and polaris pilledMay our beloved GPUs keep drawing watts for another decade
Been trying to upgrade to an i7 3770 or a ryzen 5 if i can manage to get a good deal but literally no luck so far. 3770's are extremely rare here, most common is the K version which goes for retarded amounts of money. Stuttering in modern games is really starting to get on my nerves.
>>787998508GB and 2GB :)
>>78799880google for the Xeon E3-1240, it's basically a i7 2600 without integrated graphics and you can get it for cheap on ebay or aliexpress
>>78796874i have a ryzen 2600 and a radeon 7950i was upgrading everything but then some family shit happened and i have no money anymorei hope i can upgrade gpu maybe next year
>>78800002>caring for family over consooming techAbsolutely based. This is how a real man handles shit.
>>78797412because my country is shit and dont have an affluent daddy that could give me school or contactsall my family is to me is burdens and problems
>>78799969I know about those xeons, was eyeing e3-1270 v2 for a while but didn't buy it because i was hoping to find something locally. It seems like the prices for it have come down quite a bit so maybe. But i think i would rather save the money at this point and get a ryzen. It's going to be like a 250-300€ investment but probably worth it in the long run because even 4/8 isn't completely butter smooth in some of these newer games. I just picked a wrong time to actually want an upgrade, no stock for 5xxx series so people aren't selling their old shit.
>>78800023Thanks anonThis may be dumb but I really needed to hear thisI'ts just nice to see some form of affirmation for once
>>78796874>>787968272600X and 750ti owner here. OP for once isn't a faggot.
come at me coomsumers
Maybe one day I'll be able to get a card with more than 3.5GB.
>>78799784Gee Bill, how come your motherboard lets you have 12 processors?
>>78800145Well to be honest a powerful PC wont have your back like family. Even the worst family. We might all be in for some tough times ahead. Americans like myself dont have a fucking clue.
>>78800170I see no problem with thisI bet you can handle any game at 1080 at least in medium settings at 50-60 fpsAnd well really who wants more than that
>>7880020250-60fps average is irrelevant when it drops to 5fps every time something actually happens on screen.
>>78800202No, he can't. That shit misses half the instructions used in modern cpus.
I got this 144hz 3440x1440 monitor for $150 because it had one dead pixel and no standprob the best deal I ever did
I also have a egpu enclosure at home with a rx570 which i use for opencl + gaming.
>>78800197Thats true man. Thanks. I wish the best for you too.

>>78800231Haha, that gif never fails to make me laugh, even after buying a 970 myself.
>>78800029I hope things get better.
>>78800202you are right but im not your typical zoomer gaymer. last game i used to play a lot was world of tanks avg 100 FPS (with a lot of shit deactivated for minmaxing purposes like explotions, grass and some other shit that literally impares the players vision on what its going on, so even if i had a NASA tier pc id have those exact same settings anyways)the newest game i play is risk of rain 2. medium-lowe settings. more than 50 fps easy for sure but in long runs (+3 hours) starts to gg, like most of pcs. too much shit on screen>>78800240>>78800249never happened, but as i said, newest game i played is not that exigent
>>78800240Probably but when one spends so much time with hardware like that that shit becomes normal. I spent so so many years playing at 20-30 average fps that I dont really dislike it so much>>78800249Tbh I dont know about AMD I just estimated with a 2007 intel that I still used until recently and performed pretty good for its ageI guess amds were really that terrible then
do you guys think that there is a possibility that a 650W PSU and a 3600 will bottleneck a 3060?
>>78797480not enough cash for a 3090? lol
>>788007033060 was rumoured to be around 2080 performance, so no i don't think so.
>>78800756650W PSU is enough for a 2080?
>>78800770We are talking about 3060 which is 60-class card. 650w has always been more than enough for a 60-class card.
>>78800231up until 3 weeks ago I still had a 970 and literally never experienced problems with the VRAM, even in games like RE2 which the settings menu claimed took over 4GB
>>788007703060 is rated at 180wattsI run a 2070S (225) +3600 no issues on a 650watt gold. The PSU fan only comes on if I'm converting a Blue ray on the CPU -while- folding proteins on the GPU.Playing any sort of game the PSU fan never even spins.Even running furmark + p95 the PSU fan is only on about 50% of the time, at its lowest speed cycling between on/off in about 3 minute intervals.
>>78800790>>78800880that's fucking great news, because the system isn't even a year old and i really have no intentions of upgrading anything else besides the GPU somewhere next year and keep it like that for the next console generation hoping for 1440p/144hz, thanks.
>>78800928I plan to keep this system a fairly long time.I ran an fx8350 Oced + Quadro fx 4600 for 4 or 5 years, and then went to an rx580. It all ran off a 650 or 750 no issues for almost 7 years. Then I moved it (and the PSU and RX580) to my wifes desktop, and she still uses the thing for WoW and dragon Age.Still have the quadro too.
>>7880064220-30 fps is fine if it's consistent, that's why console fags at the end don't really care. It becomes a massive problem when stuttering comes into play.
>>78796827Waiting for the 3060ti or AMD equivalent to come out before upgrading my 1070.
thinking about doing egpu via the mini pcie slot rather than expresscard because my soundblaster xfi notebook takes up the expresscardive got a spare gt 1030 just sitting around
>>78802376it would be great if some one made a custom quick access cover for thinkpads for this reason.
>>78802554the issue is the mini pcie is under the palmrest, so it would be easier to replace the sd card slot with an extension to some sort of external connection, basically replacing the sd card slot with a mini pcie "port" of sorts
>tempsspeccy is shit, never reports the correct cpu temp for some reason
>>78796827>All this talk of hardware scalping these days on stuff that is going out of date in a yearAm I the only one still comfy?
>>78796827Just waiting for a decent $300 gameman card to lunch...
>>78802719"25c" idle seems high for vishera. How overclocked is that thing?these things had no actual temp probe and just looked up a temp from a current and voltage + load table.at 4.8ghz @ 1.32x volts mine was around "8c" on the desktop, and I just ran a hyper 212. Loved that chip honestly. Only upgraded my stuff, to be able to "give" my wife a desktop PC to play games on.
>>78802776I normally do get the 7C idle temp with the cool n quiet on, I have too much crap open and playing a video, but this thing's cool as a cucumber with this big ass Hyper T4 cooler that is dusted every year.
>>78802802The longevity you can get out of that thing is honestly amazing. For day to day tasks and even most games I cant really tell much of a difference compared to my 3600.Internet is the same, cad ironically is the same because autoshit stuff seems to have issues using more than one thread for geometry updates. Only compiling software and converting movies is notably faster (but in these cases its like HALF the time to complete)Keep it alive for all us FX bro's
>>78802888The FX-8000 still have tons of life left as daily use systems, I came from a Q6600 5 years ago when I put this together, and even that old system would still be fine as a daily use today, I just wanted a custom built system that could overclock a little and took ATX parts.
the gpu fan doesn't spin LOL
The Vega runs ok on 1440p, but hits it's limit sometimes. But that's either because of bad optimization or when I really push the graphics on newer games.Really happy with my setup except the SSD is quite small now.
so many ramlets here.
>>78796874I'm rocking a Ryzen 5 5600x and an HD 7870 GHz while I wait for RDNA2 to come in stock. I upgraded from an FX-6300
don't care. still bought intel / nvidia.
>>78803600Did you actually need the 3090 over the 3080 or just buy it because you could?
I should be good with this for awhile
>>78803582>HD 7870 GHzAwesome card. Loved my Powercolor one back in the day. Just one giant fan with a shitload of heatpipes.
My shitbox. I plan to upgrade once the ryzen 5000 series can actually be purchased.
>>78803643i have no shame in admitting i only bought it because i could. i'm keeping it for four years at minimum. i came from a nvidia 670 and a 2500k.
>>78804096Get your SSD on one of those SATA 6 GB/s ports
>>78804320Only SSD here is the system 240GB. I just have such old HDDs they're on SATA 3Gb/s. Mobo doesn't even have slow SATA ports.
>>78803600here's my hwinfo to show storage. still don't care, bought intel / nvidia.
>>78803187the sad thing is, that nvidia 970 is more powerful than that amd 1200. and worth more. why did you get a 1200?
>>78804516It was super cheap and it does 60 fps in every game I play. (I just have a 60hz monitor)
>>78800703>3600>3060no, it should be fine. 3060 should be around a 2070 super to a 2080 super tier card. nothing from zen 2 was a bottleneck for that tier. a 3600x with a 2080 benched nearly the same as a 9900k. in terms of psu, a 650 watt should be enough but i would aim for a 750 watt. at most its like $20 more but that 100 watt extra headroom is nice to have. and no, its not a "waste" if you don't use it.>>78804558if you're happy you're happy i guess.
i5 2500k32GB DDR3GTX 970thinking of upgrading my graphics card to a 3070 to keep up with current games, but I'd probably need to upgrade my cpu, which means I'd need a new motherboard, which means I have to take my whole PC apart
