Who are your trusted tech reviewers? This dude seems alright, but I don't really know much history of people in the industry. Open to suggestions. Who do you like and dislike and why.
>>
>>77745810
Do not trust steve, he's friends with Jayz and both agreed to shill for nvidia.
AdoredTV is all you need.

To elaborate on how I buy tech. I usually do a sort of aggregate of a bunch of different reviews. Then I'll typically wait 2-3 months on new tech and read user reviews on amazon and similar sites. I tend to look for a trend in horror stories to understand what I'm getting into. To me, the 1 and 2 star user reviews tend to be the most useful in that regard.
>>
I really hope OP is baiting
>>
I only trust myself; at the end of the day, you, yourself, is the best tech reviewer.
>>
>>77745810
I don't trust any of them. I base my purchases purely off of brand marketing materials. Sold my 1080ti and preordered 3080 already! Who's with pascalbros?
>>
>>77745880
Baiting how? My endorsement of him was lukewarm at best. I literally confessed my ignorance on the subject and asked for suggestions and critiques on reviews. Not everything is 360 walk away bait. People ask legitimate questions.

Anything but actual data is meaningless. So far none of them have been accused of falsifying data to please their [insert brand you don't like right now] overlords that they supposedly shill for. Just pick one at random, look at the results, then look a the price and make a decision based on your needs and budget.

>>77745810
Notebookcheck, since they give a LOT of data and have very standardized methodology, which helps comparing devices.

I can't imagine giving a fuck about the subjective opinions of some e-celeb who may or may not run a few basic benchmarks and has the job to generate clicks and entertain.

i still remember how Jayz treated his cameraman for forgetting to turn on camera for his build with terry crews build, and then proceeded to film a fake "reaction" video with terry immediately afterwards
I remember Jayz shitting on his audience a few years ago, the whole "my life is so hard" "none of you could understand what im going through, etc etc"
dropped that shit and never looked back, zero respect for such a deplorable human being

>>
>>77747729
No don't. Most of them don't know a shit about testing and hardware and computers in general or they do but pretend they don't. Really Steve is the only one (I know of) who uses proper robust testing methods. Starting from basics like checking fucking motherboard settings to see if your CPU isn't overclocked when testing. Still it might be interesting to see some other results but take them with a grain of salt.
>>
>>77748714
I have never supported the argument that /g/ is for all technology. Video games belong on /v/, cars belong on /o/, dolls belong on /toy/ etc.

If the doll incorporates significant electronic tech than it can sure as hell be discussed here. You are free to not enter that thread.
Graphics cards are full of tech, often new tech with exciting possibilities, gaming is driving much of that, whether you like it or not
>>

They all get samples by manufacturers and sign NDAs so they can get shit before release so they all can't shit too much on these products if they want to get more samples.
The best shills imo are IgorsLab, Phoronix, Buildzoid and maybe Gaymers Nexus.

lol this. one day we're going oto have to have a long serious discussion about what drives people to pledge a kind of deranged loyalty to a brand, most consoomer products have these brand warriors but it's at insane levels in the tech world.
Don't get me wrong, who doesn't like to hear that they made a good conssomer purchase, I do get it but I also want to know when I made a bad choice so I can avoid repeating it in future. We all make mistakes we all bought something only to find out later that wee could have got something better for less.

But going out to bat for a manufacturer?Usually a foreign owned manufacturer that treats its own staff like shit and frankly just wants your fucking money.

What kind of a person is it who wakes up with the intention of entering the digital battlefield on behalf of the multimillionaires who sold him some silicon last year? I will never get it.

yes, but part of the point is that reviewers can pick which games they review. Then can specifically review games Nvidia recommends comparing them to to give the most favorable results, or they can mix it up to try and paint as much of a realistic picture as possible.

The rest are split between full blown shilling (like Linus) or are purely irrelevant (the rest).

Igor's Lab
LTT for very basic level summaries of shit

GN has strong methodology, amazing investigative journalism and great case reviews. HUB has most comprehensive cpu/gpu gaming numbers, good analysis and good laptop/monitor/mb vrm testing. Level1 for the linux/workstation perspective. Anandtech for architecture deep dives and great analysis. STH for more enterprise stuff and again great analysis. Buildzoid for o scope/mem oc testing. Semiaccurate, adoredtv, coreteks for leaks/speculation/analysis. Just started watching MLiD, content and leaks seem alright but ego is distracting

AMDrones are far more deranged. I've never seen a genuine nvidia fanboy who's devoted to the brand no matter what, the closest thing to that are people who refuse to buy AMD because of bad experiences, leaving nvidia as the only option. But on the other hand you have literal religious devotees on r/AMD that treat AMD like it's the catholic church and chant JUST WAIT JUST WAIT JUST WAIT

Like every phase count. Often manufacturers are dishonest (like doubling the number of phases when they use doublers which actually do not double then number of phases) and sometimes just blatantly lie and pull the number out of their ass. Concrete example? Let's see, Asrock says B550 Taichi has 16 phases. Well, the controller is only 8 phase so it's the first case (doublers). X570 Pro4 is supposedly 10-phase. It's 6-phase without doublers, only some components were duplicated to appear as 10-phase on the board. Notably a third motherboard I sloppily randomly selected was actually right: B550 Aorus Master does have 16 phases as in specification. Just take a look at a popular AM4 motherboard summary: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1wmsTYK9Z3-jUX5LGRoFnsZYZiW1pfiDZnKCjaXyzd1o
If "virtual" VRM phases count isn't "all true phase" it means the manufacturer is lying to some degree.
