This makes my eye twitch every time I see it because it gives people a massively skewed idea of how much programs can actually benefit from parallelism; some tasks are inherently serial (each step relies on the result of the last step so they can't be split up) and in other cases the overhead from synchronizing threads actually makes it slower than a single-threaded program that does the same thing
>>
making a burger is paralel tho
the bread and lettuce dont come out from the same place as the meat
>>
>>70553924
Assembling the burger is not parallel. Gathering the materials is not parallel. The only parallel part is grilling.

>distributing workload is going to be done in hardware in the coming years.
AMD couldn't make it work, no one really has yet.
Bulldozer was designed in mind that the issue of non-parallel workloads being able to be recompiled or on hardware reinterpreted in a way to have parallelism. They thought they could have many cores and solve the workload issue... but obviously that didn't work out so Ryzen is a course correction of that since they know appropriate that you can't simply made a Bulldozer was designed in mind that the issue of non-parallel workload in to a parallel one easily.

I don't think it's reasonable to assume the average user is going to hook their fucking PC up to a window unit air conditioner just to hit 8GHz.

that woman is too old, you can tell by her arm
beside the fact that Jobs is alive so you know that photo itself is old, before she was even involved in Yahoo (add onto that that you can clearly see some other woman is there representing them)

man xxd says -r is for reverse hex to text

I'm not baiting dude, it doesn't work like that in a sub shell because globbing works differently.

Please respond.

xxd converts data to hex and vis versa. It's really cool. You can use it to convert any file to hex and then copypaste it around. You can upload binaries, images, whatever, to pastebin. Then to download them you copy the hex and reconvert it.

>Assembling the burger is not parallel
u wot m8
You can easily assemble adjacent layers into pairs in parallel independently of each other, then combine those pairs into quads, etc. It isn't full parallelism of course, but it's still better than stacking ingredients one by one like single-threaded retard.
>Gathering the materials is not parallel
Unless your fridge is stack, you can grab all your elements simultaneously. At the very least you can grab buns in separate thread since they come from different container anyway.

in fact the op image is an example of why the whole concept is flawed from the very begginning. if the processes execute out of order, you get a burger with lettuce at the bottom where the bun should be

The Internet was even way different back then.
I'd imagine the vast majority of traffic is between data centres and mobile devices.
Thot culture: Snapchat and Instagram.
Home laptops and desktops are in sharp decline.
TV is making a comeback with streaming and vidya.
Yahoo is nowhere as popular as once was.
Microsoft is mainly for work purposes.
I'd imagine if that graphic was made today Facebooks platforms would be a lot bigger. And Netflix and streaming would be big.
I also think the Internet has many divisions by sex, men watch porn more. Women are more likely to be driven to make purchases by social media influencers etc..
>>
>>70584811
Uh-huh, and when a task is dependent on another task or group of tasks?
>>
>>70584834
Not the issue >>70584729 brought up. If they depend on each other, you topsort them.
