What is the best music player and why is it foobar2000?

>>70163772It's indeed foobar. Because it's great.
>>70163772audacious because i dont use windows. it looks almost like old winamp too
>>70163772Audacious and Clementine. Anything else is shit.
>>70163772Windows: foobar2000Linux: Clementine
mpd. Even Plex, Inc. agrees.
>>70163772musicbee is pretty comfy
MusicBee is better. Sad that it's not avaiable on Linux.
>>70163772>He doesn't use Dopamine
>>70163772Foobar is proprietary.
theres no reason to download FLACs.. 320kbps is good enough. You're just being weird if you do
>>70163772Nice, you massive faggot.
>>70164257foobar is based
>>70164266Stop being poor and buy some HP SAS drives, store all your music as FLAC and encode to opus if you want to play it on your shitbox.
>>70164266I cannot tell the difference between MP3 320 CBR and MP3 V2 with an ABX test but I still have a lossless collection. If you just download 320 CBR music, you can never re-encode the music to a lower quality without fucking it up even more. Having a lossless collection so you can encode to a decent quality for your phone while minimizing the file size is the way to go.
>>70163772>proprietary windows garbage>>70163783>streaming
>>70164316>>70164393>>70164543autismYou turbonerds must have a very small music taste. Unless you buy terrabytes for music storing. And even then what a hassle it is to go through and download/encode it all. Lol. I pity you

>>70164561>what a hassle it is to go through and download/encode it all1. Buy digital album in FLAC2. Follow link provided to download it3. Done; as soon as my phone connects to WLAN, i can see it in my music player and stream it there or just keep it locallySetting this up took about an hour. So much fucking work, anon, i'd totally rather pay monthly to "own" a shitty encode on spotify. And the 10TB SAS drives really aren't that expensive, if you have a job.
>>70164561>I pity youi don't think about you
>FLAC>24bit>Greater than 44.1 kHz>No font smoothing>Classic windows theme>Kpoopget help anon...
>>70163783I used to use spotify until I realised it was keeping song files around of things I hadn't listened to in monthes, my spotify appdata was over 10GB. I could save more space having everything locally.I used FB2k back when I actually cared about music, now I just use musicbee,
ncmpcpp + mpd
foobar is just to comfy
>>70165350fuck off dumb zoomer
For me it's ffplay
>>70163783>just be a cuck anon, why host locally your music?Zoomers, everyone
>>70165866how do you get spectrogram view with ffplay
>>70163772I prefer MusicBee
>>70163783>no control over quality>no control over format>no control over library contentsit's the fool's choice
>>70164266i store my music as FLACs and then convert to V0 mp3s for playback on my devices. i know FLAC is placebo for listening purposes but I like having a perfect copy of the disc I purchased backed up in case shit happens.
>>70166488It should be the default when opening files without a video stream (unless you suppress the window with -nodisp). Also you can press w to cycle through the show modes.
mpv works fine for music.
>>70163805>>70164045Is it sad that when I just got linux I got QMMP and I'm still so attached to winamp I downloaded a skin to make it look like the bento skin on 5. Hell I even tried to get winamp working on fucking wine.
Not one cmus post yet?
>>70166753hopefully you dont have albums with multiple artists
>>70166807They're all in a huge list under "Various Artistis"
>>70166753absolutely based, how can anyone compete?
Why isn't there a single decent player with smb support? Why do none of them store Metadata locally so loading my library doesn't lag like shit
why bother with streaming services if you can literally download everything off of deezer
>>70163772Because foobar2000 is the best!
>>70163772Recently switched from Rythmbox to Clementine and it's a lot nicer. Still wish I could have Winamp back
>wintoddlers actually believe the r*ddit music player is the best music player
>>70166713its this one that i like
>>70168718Yeah I made it look like that but just with the Bento skin colors on the right. They call it Bento Classified if anyone is interested.
I use musicbee
Youtube to mp3 is better
>>70163772>not using audacity
>>70163772V. L. C.>>70163783Some people want to OWN their pirated music.
>>70166753I don't use cmus, but I use a knock-off mpd client :^)
>>70163772Audiophiles are the worst. Just use youtube to mp3.
I don't see Mixxx posted often in these threads, but I use it for DJing
All you need is well organised music library in explorer and MPC.
>>70164686>Really aren't that expensive>$1000More than three months my pay before literally any expenses.
>>70163809>thisAlso, music bee is ok if you dont want to set up foobar yourself
>>70164072Puke... install mpd
I like clementine.
>>70163783You zommers act like Spotify is always going to be there. I remember when I thought all of my memories were safe, preserved forever on the "cloud" that was MySpace...where are those photos and conversations now, anon? At least have a hard drive of your favorite toons somewhere safe. You'll thank me later.
>>70170151Is this bait or are you actually that retarded?
>>70170295VLC is underappreciated for it's ability to have playlists.
>>70163772the 2019th year of our lord and people don't use adobe audition to listen to music
>>70172664Did MySpace really go under overnight, without you having a chance to backup stuff?
>>70172964You think I was going to go through thousands of posts and pictures. It would have taken days, and I didn't have the time. Also, back in the MySpace days, I had a slow as hell Internet connection on a failing XP machine that probably didn't have enough storage available anyway. Also, they did just sort of announce that it would be going away over night.
>>70173059So if what happened to MySpace happened to Spotify, you'd have plenty of time to find an alternative? Pretty bad example then.
>>70173073Not really. Actually it would be worse in that case. Imagine being a premium member and having a ton of custom playlists and settings that could never be ported to any other platform. You'd have to go from your comfy config to starting from the ground up.
>>70173177You still could do it manually, even if they don't have an export feature. So not quite the disaster scenario you painted, it would just be possibly tedious to move from Spotify to local stuff. (Though in reality another streaming service would be a more likely alternative.)
>>70173197Yeah, but the thing is you never have to worry about that if you store everything locally. You never have to worry about an Internet outage/censorship either.
>>70165436I only started using Spotify because I figured it'd be a little more convenient than having to download all of my music, my internet is complete shit. I haven't paid attention to how much storage it takes up on PC but on my phone it literally took up probably half of my phone's storage. If I'm entirely honest, I haven't listened to music "locally" in a major sense in a long time. I used to have a portable sony CD/DVD player and I would use limewire to get music and burn it onto CDs, basically since then I just listened to shit on YouTube (unless you count turntable.fm, rip)
foobar2000 on computerdroidsound-e on my android phoneanswer is because they both have vgmstream to play all of my video game format music.
>>70173222Well there's other concerns.
Based LOONA bro
>>70163783you will never be able to convince me to give up local storage.
I used foobar for like a year after I got my laptop for college. Fun times. Eventually I got pissed at the skin I had and then tried a new one, it was also equally shit i eventually just gave up because i'm terrible at organizing all my music and I couldn't find a cool enough skin.God that was all so long ago, I used to download so much music and stuff. Now I just listen to anything I want on youtube, but I still have like 200GB of music on my computer for no reason I guess haha.
>>70173839>Now I just listen to anything I want on youtube
>>70173740Care to elaborate? I'm guessing that 'streaming' is some script, and 'music' is a folder?
>>70173921kek, no.the stats are from mpd, and the rest was me failing to greentext in my terminal.
>not using FL Studio to listen to your very own music on an infinite loop that continuously evolves due to an elaborate setup with lots of carefully placed randoms and masterful automation
>>70163772foobar2000 would be the best, but it can't fucking download album art, so into the trash bin it goes..
>>70163882cant you DL flacs from spotify?
>>70173920it just werkssometimes i have to use soundcloudoccasionally i have to use some other siterarely I have to actually hunt down and download the album
>>70163772i like how the cringy new form of weebism instead of jap shit it is korean shit, like lol why choose koreans, they aint even make any cool shit like anime and music. lmao, kids these days, they just jealous they didnt get in on the jap era of weebism when their brothers were into it and they felt left out, so they found some random asian shit, korean shit in this case, and acted like its some kool underground wap shit.
>>70166753i really enjoy the keyboard shortcuts of cmus and its design, but i cant quite get over no album art, because once i was without it i realized that my entire music memory was based off of the albums art
>>70173921I see. Figured maybe you'd set up a custom database full of links to mp3 files and then automated some sort of port-forewarding process. I'm liking the looks of this mpd approach... seems to have little baggage.
>>70163772Based LOONA player
>>70163772foobar2000 mastee race
Look at all this bloat OMG
>>70172467Do you live in Zimbabwe or are you on gubmint benefts? In any case, you can get them as low as 50$ (in yuropoor) with some slight mileage on them. Data centers replace them as soon as there's one bad block or whenever they upgrade (which is retarded, but hey, dirt cheap SAS drives).
>>70164112God I wish musicbee was a thing on GNU/Linux
>>70163772just use VLC you moron
>>70173965Aren't there plugins for that?
>>70175249Good taste>>70163772Blackplayer is pretty clean
>>70172703>for it's ability to have playlistsI think Playlists can be saved in some standardized file format anyway.I just use it because it's pretty simple for playing L I T E R A L L Y A N Y T H I N G(srsly, the only three things they could add support for now would be AV1, SSH and image/pdf viewing)>>70173962based and FLACpilled
>>70163772>not using the superior mother russia piece of software that is AIMPkys
>>70163772>24 bit, 96 khzcringe
>>70175249Mind sharing your configuration?
>>70163772op is a massive faggot
>>70163772mpd is fucking cool but i miss the support of all the formats foobar2000 had
>>70179872same.I like mpd, but it has straight up wonky .cue support, and foobar can literally play anything.
Does anyone know a good plug in for visualization? i just got a new 55" TV and I want to sit don and enjoy some music.
>>70180028Don't know your set up but I play my music on Kodi when I use my TV.
>>70180044Sorry, I forgot my pic. I mostly use foobar2k. What is this Kodi ? Is it a full player or an add on?
>>70180053It's a video/music player that lets you manage your library and fetches metadeta to make it all pretty. It's standalone and it has visualizations you can download if you use it for music.I let it play in shuffle in my living room and it's pretty nice, work well with a remote control.
>>70180066Oh, this looks intersting. So you install it in your PC and then display on the TV as a secondd monitor? Or can you stream directly to the TV?
>>70179912most people on /g/ will probably think i'm a pleb but i'd love if it could handle video game formats better, especially .vgm. i like that it can play modules, at least.
